Great video! My dad had an orange 55 2 door with a 396 out of a 69 camaro. Looked just like this one, only it had Rambunctious painted on the rear fenders and Heavy Chevy painted on the front fenders. Sure wish we knew what happened to that car

Nice, although I had a'57 Ford back in my high school days of '64 and '65, my best friend had a maroon '55 Chevy convertible in which he swapped a 283 with Duntov 30-30 cam, power pack heads, 12 Jahns pistons, Mallory, various carb set ups including 4-2s for a couple months, 4 speed w/Hurst, 4.11 posi, chrome reverse wheels with 7" cheater slicks, no front bumper...A true back yard garage high school kid Hot Rod...Oh, the Joy...Great memories... And when he got drafted in '67, I think (I was in Nam), his folks had the junk yard come pick it and a '55 2 door sedan up and scrapped them both, much to his horror...

I can relate. Back in the late 60's, I had a 55 Chevy 2 door sedan. The 3rd engine was a built 331ci Corvette motor with a monumental amount of speed equipment, Pontiac Muncie 4 speed and a 4.88 strip posi rear (4.11 street). open headers, 10 in slicks, zero lash the valves (H312 cam), 14 deg intial advance max at 38 deg, drop the clutch at 3800 and shift at 7800. Best time in quarter 11.96 at 114+ mph. Never should have sold that car !

That sounds awesome! 11.96 with a 4 speed in a 55 would be stout today, but even more impressive back then I bet.

@@dloneyv8 Thanks. What I didn't tell you was I worked part time in an automotive speed shop back in the late 60's (while attending college full time) so I couldn't drive a slouch. A customer (and friend) who owned a machine shop did all the machine work on the motor. I assembled with some help. First two runs were 12.26 and 12.31. Last run (11.96) was perfect with a 5.02 reaction time, the 5-5 didn't miss a beat. Sold the 5-5 in 1970 [long story] - BIG mistake. Presently own a rare 71 Chevelle Malibu 400 ragtop I have owned since new, over 52 years ! My son owns a 72 pro street Chevelle (owned over 34 years under a previous iteration). Yup, we are a couple of motor heads !

Great video! The track looks so different now. Forgot about the trees along the west side of the track.

It was fun to put together. Those trees were murder for people with allergies, I’m glad they’re gone.

That car is not stalling at 5500. Not even close.

You’re right, it was a 5500 converter but it won’t stall that high behind a 327.

@DLONEYV8 Motorsports You should have taken it out and called someone like TCI and said I'm running this combo, it's stalling here, make it stall at 5k. They could have done that for about $100.
