Everyone who takes this too serious and doesnt laugh at this should really ask themselves if they have any happiness in life. Tristan Tucker is known for his sensitive way of riding and if you have just the slightest of knowledge of Dressage, you can see that he barely even touches the horses mouth or doesn't even really kick his flanks. So please, stop crying out "poor horse" if you have NO clue, what's going on here. His horse is super relaxed, has his head in just the right position ALL the time, is not swishing tail and the ears are in an alert pose, mostly forward ot a bit sidewards. NO signs of anger or pain. Hecc, he is even pooping in the beginning xD Which horse does that if it was uncomfortable? The bit he uses isn't even a curb if you look closely xD Its a normal English bridle with a (seemingly) soft bit. *What is happening?* So basically, this rider seems to be jumping and bumping around in his horses saddle and pulling on the reins like crazy. But look closer. He gives just the right prompts in just the right time. The horse gets exactly what he needs to know. He NEVER lifts out of the saddle ONCE. The only thing he does is messing with his upper body (which is fake, because when he's not goofing around, he actually rides better than most Grand Prix riders do). And the horse must have an ENORMOUS amount of balance to still go in a beautiful extended trot or even a passage. It's crazy, if you think about it. And now look at the horses mouth, not at his hands. Yes, he shakes his hands around, but NEVER is the horses mouth affected by that. When he moves his hands, its mostly up and wown, not forward-backward (which would actually hurt his horse a lot). He is so cautious and soft with this wonderful animal that I wish, more riders would pay so much attention to their horses. Please, if you can, watch him riding a bit more seriously than this here. He is not a circus clown, he actually is an absolutely talented horse trainer and rider.

SAMMYTASTISCH! That horse has his mouth open while foaming. That’s a pain response. Look it up. He rode great and the skit was hilarious, but there is still too much contact with his mouth regardless. There are horses who keep there heads like that with nothing more than a neck rein, so the added contact on the mouth really isn’t really necessary.

Heather Collins excuse me but I’ve been riding English, including dressage and jumping, for four years now! Western style too! I’m not a newbie nor have I even rented a horse. I take lessons and work with mustangs. I know full well that bits cause pain, my instructor knows this, half of the equestrian world knows this. Why cause a living breathing animal pain just for a competition? It’s not necessary. Plain and simple.

I have watched this now 3 or 4 times and get a kick every time. His timing and riding ability with legs only while acting so uncoordinated up top is amazing to watch. The sandwich, the 'hand free' phone call the commentary done so very well. Gorgeous horse is completely relaxed through that 'test' and is a beautiful mover.

It's actually hard to ride the wrong way once you learn to ride the correct way. Lol. Yet he still gave the right cues to the horse for what they needed to do. He's truly made this horse "bomb proof". Wonderful trainer. (:

Wonder if the people commenting understand how much ground work and training has to be done with a horse to be able to perform at that level..... if that horse was in anyway uncomfortable scared nervous or anything like that there would have been many a sign. For example nervous pooing for example ( to shed around 3 pounds of its bodyweight to then bolt away) pulling back in restraint or even simple bucks or kicking of the leg, there was none of that, and to say it's getting it's mouth yanked is utter pish, look at the amount of foaming at the mouth it's doing (That's a good sign btw) and the horse would have more than likely have a bit that is custom made to it's mouth or been specifically fitted, fuck the horse will be looked after a lot better than some people look after there kids!!!!

It's funny for horseriders. Because the gives off the illusion of making every mistake when riding a horse. Fake janking on the reins, only the angle changes not the distance. Fake bobbing around. His hips stay firmly seated. Etc. Those mistakes usually hurt the animal and aren't allowed but he makes it seem like he is riding like a beginner while actually masterfully controlling the horse without hurting it.

To all those saying he was yanking at the horses mouth, the distance between his hands and the mouth stayed the same, just the angle changed. And he is not bobbing on the horses back, it looks as if, but he just sits deeply in the saddle and moves his hips to create the impression.
