Real nice, your design, you made it your self, that's a hell of a lot better than off eBay to you.

Very nicely made. How much improvement have you found with it, & How is the side pressure, does it affect anybody standing near you. running the chuck in reverse for filing is an excellent idea

Big improvement on recoil reduction. Only slightly less than than an MPA break I had installed with ports angled 45 degrees to the rear. My complaint with that type of brake is the effect on shooters to either side and the noise from super sonic gas directed rearward.

Interesting way of doing the timing. I would be worried that it would lose that timing over time with multiple detachments/attachments, as the threads get worked. How has it held up, and do you keep it attached all the time?
@bretthl16 жыл бұрын
I have had no reason to remove it. I leave on when cleaning.

How durable is this finish? It looks very nice.

Can you blue the barrel this way or is cold blue better
@bretthl13 жыл бұрын
Cold blue or hot blue definitely. Selenium Dioxide from Brownells works good for cold blue. Cericote is another good option if you like the look.

How does the finish hold up over time sir?
@bretthl15 жыл бұрын
Good so far. I have it on two rifles.

It will scratch off with hard use but given the ease of application and next to free cost it is pretty great. I finish lots of 1018 parts with the same method at work.

Looks great have you gotten to test the rifle out?

Yes. Happy with the results. Built another for my 6.5 Creedmoor.

Why do you run the file backwards?
@bretthl15 жыл бұрын
It's not, the spindle is turning away from me. If I mess up and contact the chuck it won't jam the file toward me.
@duckslayer110005 жыл бұрын
@@bretthl1 that's a pretty good idea. 20 years working in Machine shops and never heard of that one.

Question isn't 12L14 kind soft for a muzzle brake.
@bretthl14 жыл бұрын
4140 Rockwell B = 92 12L14 Rockwell B = 84 So far so good, have not seen any pitting. Machines nice too.
@michaelhale40414 жыл бұрын
@@bretthl1 ok didn't want to act or come off as any type of know it all by no means. I do agree 12L14 does machine nice.

what kind of oil for bluing ?
@bretthl14 жыл бұрын
I use cutting oil because I can reuse it. Any heavy hydrocarbon oil will work fine. Do not drop the piece in when glowing red or the oil will burn and leave a film that is hard to remove. If you don't like the results, just wash, rinse and repeat.

What is the function of a Muzzle Brake?
@bretthl15 жыл бұрын
The function is to reduce the recoil; control (staying on target for a follow up shot) and comfort (magnum cartridge rifles).

Downside, it makes the gun louder for the person shooting it.

Nice looking but not much of a brake.
@bretthl14 жыл бұрын
It brakes. I had a reverse angle brake that was slightly better but too much noise and debris.
