He’s referring to Mike Henderson, Nashville writer and player. Played Open C and has some great blues albums from the 90s with his band The Bluebloods on Dead Reckoning label.

Using open tunings and feeling out the major scale has been profound in my awareness of the fretboard… specifically related to C6 tunings and lap steel-it should have been obvious long ago that the relative minor of the IV is a ii and V a iii. Joey has been such an inspiration getting me on my slide journey.

BRETT PAPA< I don't know how Joey Landreth does certain chords because he will angle/tint the slide + fret behind the slide to make let say a Dom7 or Dom7#9 chord. Try to make your own slide guitar lesson video about these angle/tint the slide + fret behind the slide type chords because I don't know how to do them really or what their chord names are.

Sorry guys but standard rules. Although I do love open C. Tuning lower than standard is to helps singers. Lets think..... They have been tuning standard for centuries. They must be wrong. Lets do it this way.
@BrettPapa2 жыл бұрын
No rules when it comes to making music. Everyone is entitled to make it however they see fit. That is why there is so much great music out there in so many different tunings. Whatever inspires you to create is the right thing.
@ricopetrilli10842 жыл бұрын
Standard tuning was developed to make the hand fit better in the larger fretboards of spanish guitars. The strings are in perfect fourth intervals except G-B is a major 3rd. Slide or vocals werent even a consideration. A large number, if not most Delta players used open tuning, Elmore James for one.
