WD-40 method worked for me. Thank you to the video poster and all others who shared their experience

Thank you very much!!! Following the advice from one of the comments, I sprayed this button with WD40 from the outside (without taking the machine apart) and so far it works like a charm. While spraying, I held the button down with a screwdriver and had the machine tilted to allow gravity to assist. Again, thank you for a great and detailed video!!!

Hey, I just wanted to ask that is the button still working I only have this option because I live in India and not many people have an espresso machine here so I can’t order the button online

It’s been working perfectly so far. To be clear, before I sprayed WD40, it also worked but I had to press about 3-4 times to activate the grinder. Now it works perfect. Don’t overspray it. Just a few short bursts around the button.

I knew this was the problem, having already sprayed switch cleaner into the actuator button and had limited success. But thanks to the knowledge gained for the disassembly method, I was able to get up close and personal with the aerosol spout, meaning it got a thorough soaking. Once all back together, it was singing like a banshee on the button every time. My tip for removing the three screws under the water tank is to use a small self tapper wound into the plug to aid removal, thus eliminating the need to dig all the way round the edge making a mess.

you saved me quite a bit of $$$ with this videoi, thank you! I opted to replace the switch unlike others in the comments that decided to clean their original part. And that brought up a problem, the Defond CPU-1113 you can buy on the market is a self-locking switch. the cpu-1113 that is used in the breville is not. So for now, until I find the right part, I have to push to start and push to stop my grinder as opposed to the self timer it usually have.

Interesting. There should be a momentary switch option rather than a normal switch.

Many thanks for your info.the broken Porta filter holder was bought in Australia the Switch Aliexpress a few$s. On Ebay $40-50 hard to believe such a ripoff, getting information in NZ was hopeless.

Hello, thank you for the information. Where can I buy this piece? Do you have a link where I can see it? I will appreciate it. The information is very good.

Fairly good instructions, but would be better if you showed removing the screw in the back under the plastic plug and also that you have to open that plastic box under the grinder to unplug the old switch and plug in the new one. You skipped over some important steps. However, I was able to figure it out and the new switch is working. Thanks.

I thought the same, but have suggested winding in a small self tapper into the middle of the hole plugs to aid removal without the need to start digging all the way round them first.

Had this issue too, but i'm lazy so I ended up getting my WD40 and spraying the button from the outside. I did it a couple of times and wiped it clean with a paper towel, that seemed to have worked!!!!!!!!!!! Will update if I still run into issues with this method

You sir are a genius! I am glad I saw your comment, BEFORE taking apart. Just like you, I sprayed WD40 right into the button from outside (while having it pressed with a screw driver) and it worked!!!! I did tilt the machine while spraying to allow gravity to assist. Hoping it will last. Thanks!!!

Thank you I did this and it worked 🎉 I sprayed the switch from the outside, tried it after 15 mins but it still didn’t work. So I sprayed liberally again while pressing the switch in and out. Tried after about 2 hours and it worked. Maybe it took some time for the wd40 to do its magic. Thanks again for the tip!

I broke one of the arms from that plastic holder surrounding the button and can’t find any video on replacing that 😅😅

I think you'll have to undo some screws from the back to remove that but unsure. One way to find out!

The WD-40 got the button working just fine again. Ordered the part for when it goes out again in the future. My unit went out one month outisde of the warranty. Insane a $600+ machine has such a crappy point of failure. Charge me $30 more and put in a non-China crap switch.

Hey man! I have another issue. Don't know if you'll have any tips. I can try and send you a video. But my machine works fine. The button, grinder etc.. But i can't change the grind setting from single to double or visa versa. The grinder only starts when i hold down the grinder button that you worked on here. So i need to hold down the button. And weirdly everytime i restart/power on the machine, the grind settings switch from single to double and visa versa. All the buttons works fine. I think it might be something in the computer side that's bugged

This sounds like a faulty one, you might be best off seeing if you can warranty the device. Here are some tips: Reset the Machine: Sometimes, electronic devices benefit from a simple reset. Turn off the machine, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. This might resolve temporary glitches in the system. Check for Obstructions: Ensure that there's nothing blocking the button or the grinder mechanism. Sometimes, small particles of coffee or debris can interfere with the functionality of the buttons. Clean the Grinder: Regular cleaning of the grinder is essential for its proper functioning. Coffee oils and small particles can clog the grinder over time, potentially leading to issues. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning. Inspect the Button Mechanism: Since the issue involves needing to hold down the button, there might be a mechanical issue with the button itself. If you're comfortable doing so, carefully inspect the button mechanism for any signs of wear or damage.
