I own this machine so I want to help clarify a few things. First, you CAN adjust the dose of coffee that is used. The default is about 22-23 grams. I was able to adjust mine down to 19 grams. Inside the tamper there's a small metal connector that can be adjusted with the included allen key. Also, you can still froth manually by leaving the milk button pressed for 2 sec and it''ll go into manual mode. I've owned several espresso machines, including some top of the line Super Autos and I can honestly say, this blows them all out of the water! Definitely on higher side as far as price goes, so not saying its for everyone, but if you have the cash and want a high quality drink, this machine is what you want.

So far the few dislikes I have seen around You Tube are coming from the folks that want a more manual level control, but honestly… the quality I see harmonizes well with the ease of use that I see which is exactly what I am looking for. When I am up at 7:30 am the last thing I want to do is work for the essential golden liquid of life lol

We have this coffee machine for over 4 years now, we used it everyday, and find no negative about it, yes it is expensive but if you want good quality coffee this is good investment. You can Control to froth, the brew, the grind, temp, pretty much everything, you just have to know your machine. Very easy to use. I love it and would highly recommend it.

You can do manual milk texturing/frothing with this machine, if you lift the steam wand and press and hold the touch screen milk button it will go into manual mode. I know this because I have done it on my machine, but I still prefer to use the auto function as that's why I brought it in the first place, I use my barista express for all manual stuff. Gail I love your demos I could watch them all day, thank you

Hi Gail! One thing I've noticed after demoing this machine at work many times, the number under the grind (28 in this video) isn't the amount of time it'll grind for, it's actually the grind fineness setting just like on the original oracle! It changes along with the bar when you're dialling in the shots!

I personally love breville products across the board, however I owned an older single boiler breville years ago, and never really loved it, the only breville product I didn't love...so I switched to several different machines before purchasing my current rancilio silvia which I LOVE. I do I however like the thought of a superautomatic, but like you said Gail, I'm not the kind of person who likes to "give up control". For that reason I think this "pseudosuper automatic" is exactly like the type of consumer I am! I am very interested in this machine... but can't see abandoning miss Silvia! If she ever dies...I think this will be something to really look into. Awesome video as always!

Quick tip!!! Change the group head rubber gasket frequently. Very easy to do! “Most important “ tighten the porta filter as tight as you can, it gives the steam wand more pressure and a much better froth. Also leave porta filter attached through the entire steam cycle.

I had a Jura end ended up selling it for money to buy this. My Jura stopped working and i found out it was a brew group error, that was caused by moving parts that get the ground coffee into the chamber, tamped, and out of the chamber. I figured that this would be a great solution because instead of gears and motors to get the coffee in and out, i just use my arms. Also, much much better foam. The quality of foam on the Jura was so bad, i ended up buying a whisk frother.

We have owned this machine 2 year.... Many say it is to expensive BUT if you figure you purchase 1 drink a day at only $4 (be fair, drink and tip... closer to $5 a drink) that is $960 a year meaning the Machine pays for itself in 3 years or less depending on how many drinks you make a day. You car never pays for itself... Clothes do if you wear the same style year after year. Shoes wear out....

Having owned a standard Oracle I now have the Oracle Touch (Sage branded in the UK). I notice on the Touch, there is a menu accessed by holding the power button and switching on at the mains. However, this menu is password protected for some reason (thought the machine was mine!). I'm assuming the settings to alter pre-infusion times and steam temperature are in here as they were easily accessible on the original Oracle but not the Touch. I'm finding a mid-grind setting on my Oracle (25) has to be set at around 42 on the Touch but this could be burr wear over the past 60 months. I'm also finding the auto-foam is poor - I'm setting the maximum value and just about getting a passable latte (although extraction, texture, taste are really good - no change there).

I may take the leap to buy this today. Reason: We have used the Express for a while and every single morning in the rush to get the kids off to school, I make my wife and I each a double shot drink. This ends up requiring a good 10 plus mins each and every morning and on some mornings that can be stressful, especially when you are bone tired and groggy. It makes for a long 10 mins. Now here's the thing.........my wife just has no clue how to make a drink on the Express, so every morning it's me making for both. She lacks confidence to use the machine well. This new model, while expensive would allow me to make both our drinks in half the time, and better yet, will give her the confidence to use the machine whenever she likes. Just wanted to add since the vid started with "Who is this for?".

Thanks for all the great video contents you put out. They're really helpful!! Just picked one up. Love the new Breville Oracle Touch. One quick question, does the machine change the coffee dosage based one Single and Double shot or it is only regulating the amount of amount of water that's put through? I couldn't really tell by the finished brewed Single and Double shot puck, they looked like about the same size. Thanks,

Hi. The Oracle measures the dose by the hight in the portafilter. The two cup filter takes more coffee with the same hight as the one-cup. See the comment from MrKulio above to learn how to adjust the amount of coffee.

Nice machine, but a bit on the pricey side I expect, Breville machines are called sage in the Uk for some reason. The original Oracle is around £1700, the touch one is not available here yet. i am looking at something cheaper like the Barrister Express, to replace my Gaggia classic.
@SeattleCoffeeGear
@SeattleCoffeeGear 7 жыл бұрын
The Barista Express is a killer machine that is quite affordable. We dig it for sure!
@ryc3rz
@ryc3rz 7 жыл бұрын
The reason is that Breville is a low quality,budget brand in UK people's minds, so they created a premium sub-brand SAGE so people would actually want to buy it at a premium price.
@zyborg47
@zyborg47 7 жыл бұрын
You could be right, but Breville do produce some good quality products. What ever I do a need a new grinder, i have a Dualit 75015, which while it was not overly cheap, it is cheap for a burr grinder and while it can grind pretty fine, on some beans it struggles. i get my beans from a local roasting company, they have a few different varieties. so do i go for a decent grinder, like the Sage/Breville smart grinder pro, which is around £200 and keep my using my Gaggio classic or treat myself to the Barrister express. which I can get for about £480. By all accounts Sage have something to do with some chef called Heston Blumenthal, not that it will make any difference to me.
@robinisathakur
@robinisathakur 5 жыл бұрын
KAMOMI Yer that’s basically right. The Breville name was synonymous with cheap toasted sandwich makers for many people in the U.K. They then did a creative partnership with Heston Blumenthal, a famous U.K. chef, and all these silver kitchen gadgets got released by Breville but branded as Sage. Nobody would buy a £2000 coffee machine from Breville in the U.K... It’s what stops me getting an Oracle in all honesty and more likely to go with a genuinely premium brand like Jura or Miele, as glowing as the reviews for this are.

I wonder if you can comment on the interior components of this machine; like heating element of the boiler being internal or external. For bells & whistles and practicality, I was looking into Saeco Xelsis Evo / Gaggia Accademia type super automatics but all that plastic in the guts of those machines doesn't give me the impression that they were meant to last that long. Please correct me if I am wrong. Unlike semi-automatic machine reviews, I have never come across a mention about the type of boilers that these units have, let alone those plastic parts to be BPA-free (safe) or not. Maybe it is a common knowledge that I don't know about yet. Breville Oracle seems to be another choice, but is it any better?

Always great to have a review from Gail!. I like this machine and like the easiness as I a lazy git lol. But cannot help think like others and a better grinder and Rocket type machine will be better in the long run with some discipline from myself to use them. Also, serviceability/lastability is surely a huge bonus for the Rocket. Although in the UK the Oracle comes with installation and a full course on coffee making.

My original Oracle (BES980) has died (main board failure) and I believe I will be receiving a warranty replacement. For the last year or so I have been texturing the milk manually due to the auto foam feature not working. As I understand it, with the new touch model can't manually texture the milk... Our machine is home use and makes 5-10 cups a day of mainly cappuccino or latte. What I would like to know is do you think it is worth putting in the extra to upgrade to the touch model or just just take the replacement original?

I don't think it's the built in grinder or auto-tamper that makes the difference between Rocket and Oracle. It's the easy to use programmed in options. Rocket is manual with one old school tethered control unit, no comparison to the touch screen user interface. On the other hand, I am sure Rocket is rock solid while Oracle is made in China and tends to break down. These 2 products are geared towards completely different consumer groups, a huge gap between them. I do hope, however, someday we could have one product that has the quality and reliability of Rocket, and the user friendly design of Oracle.

Hi, I have the machine since four weeks. The first few days it made wonderful rich espresso with different beans. It runs like honey down the rods of the porta filter and I got a good crema. Can't control tamping pressure? The original Oracle could though, right? Also: In customizing a drink, can you even choose the duration the shot pulls for? If I find that my beans of choice taste best at a 27 second extraction, is that possible? Or even as far as changing how long the pre-infusion lasts? :)

Not sure if you still care, but no, you can't control the tamping pressure in the Touch, and yes, you can adjust how long the shot pulls for. I have some beans that are set for 28s and some for 35.

There certainly is! The hot water spout is behind the group head.

The only thing that would give me pause about this machine is the anemic steaming performance. I would probably take a La Spaziale Mini Vivaldi II over the Breville. The MVII is also a double boiler and is a steaming demon. Costs $500 less. But the MV II doesn't have an integrated grinder. That said, pairing an MVII with a Baratza Vario would be a better set up than this and cost roughly the same. The Breville might win on aesthetics and have an edge on convenience.

Great video, but I think I like the older 'manual' buttons better than the touch screen :/

It's not for everyone! There's something nice about the streamlined experience older machines offer, but the touch screen options will definitely make for a pleasant experience to users!

The touch screen is amazing, and greatly simplifies the operation of this machine.

Are you able to control the temperature of the brew also? I'm just comparing it between the rocket premium plus w/ pid. Which one do you prefer?

There is no pressure gage so how do I know I am getting a 9 bar shot? Is that adjusted only by the grind and watching the flow of the shot from the porta filter? Thanks

can i use this built in grinder to put a more coarse grind into use in another coffee maker (french press, pour over, aeropress, etc)?
@SeattleCoffeeGear
@SeattleCoffeeGear 7 жыл бұрын
Hi pseudokiwi! Unfortunately the Oracle Touch does not have a function to be able to do that. There was a roundabout way to do it with the Barista Express (referenced here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpuwd6Gom8uEjsk), but even then it wouldn't give you a coarse enough grind properly prepare a French Press. Our recommendation would be to purchase a machine + grinder separately from one another! Let us know if you have anymore questions or need recommendations.

I am in the market for a new coffee machine. I currently have a Nespresso Lattissima Pro. Now the question is how much better will the oracle touch be. The Lattissima makes a nice cup of coffee but I want an upgrade.

Hi, Gail after searching for some time can you please answer a question I have, I believe the oracle comes with a single & double basket but correct me if I’m wrong but the dosage amount ( of coffee ) can’t be adjusted how does this work if a choice of basket is available ( double or single ) perhaps I’m missing something thank You

The machine recognizes which basket you are using and adjusts the amount automatically.

It doses based on pressure in the filter. I put a single filter in my oracle and the dose changed from 22g to 13g.
