The Phillips machine in the video is NOT a 3300, its a 4400.
@SeattleCoffeeGear37 минут бұрын
No, the machine featured is the Philips 3300 LatteGo! These machines do look similar but the 4400 has a different screen among other features but that is one way to tell them apart

Twelve grams of coffee is very weak. I use 17.5 grams for 10 oz. water. It’s not too bold/strong and not too weak. But 12 grams?

Nice video: it would have been useful to have some more "in-depth" explanation about grinding size, to see what is "too fine" or "too coarse" (e.g. a small b-clip showing the differences in grinded coffee, with some insight on how to spot a well grounded coffee from the other two cases).

Thanks for the informative video. We have the model with the thermal carafe. We’re trying to figure out how to turn on the warming plate under the carafe. I’ve reviewed the user’s manual to no avail. After listening to your video (especially one of your initial comments on the video) it sounds like you can’t turn on the warming plate. Oh no! Sometimes we make too much coffee for 1 day and want to heat it up the following morning. I guess that isn’t possible with the model we have. Oh well! Thanks!!

Hi, I recently bought the same model but when I flushed the system as instructed by pressing the single espresso shot, the water passed through and then the red light was on indicating low water level and everything just unresponsive even though water was at max level. I wonder if there were something I was missing?

I have the shorty at home, and I've noticed one thing that almost never gets talked about--the low retention of the EK43. I use the single-dose hopper and a flexible, silicon cup to grind into, sealing the cup to the spout with my hand, and using the on-board knocker to clear the burr chamber. Over the years, I've maintained retention of 0-2 tenths of a gram, occasionally getting +1-2 tenths. IOW, the grinder seems to retain an average of 1-2 tenths of a gram, which is as close to 'zero retention' as any grinder out there, afaict.

The original appartamento is a pretty machine but its always been over priced considering the features it lacks. It's a 100 percent analog machine. The TCA is better but its now almost priced out of reach of the newbie buyer. You may as well opt for a flagship model...

Great coffee, too much plastic, and the lines you love on the machine?…are good from afar, but far from good. I would be happy to pay more for something that would feel more like it will last.

Having worked on mine a few comments Shower screen screw. If it has never been removed, it can be STUCK tight. You NEED your screwdriver to FIT the screw perfectly. If it is a sloppy fit, you could/will round off the screw, and round off the screw so much that there is nothing left on the screw for the screwdriver to hold on to. If you do that, you have to send it in, for a tech to remove. To replace the damaged screws, I got replacement stainless steel M4x8 phillips screws at the hardware store. I later replaced the phillips screw with a HEX screw, so that I can use an allen key instead of a screwdriver. When you replace, screw in "finger tight." Do NOT screw it in TIGHT, or you could strip the threads in the bushing. Especially so if the bushing is made of brass, as brass is a soft metal. Over tightening could/will strip the threads, then you have to replace the bushing. What they did not tell you in the video, is that you should remove the shower screen about every two months or so, depending on how many shots you pull. And CLEAN the back of the shower screen and bottom of the boiler. The reason is, coffee residue WILL accumulate behind the screen. 1) Your boiler water is going through that old coffee residue, and picking up that state coffee taste. 2) The residue will accumulate and gradually clog the flow of water out of the boiler. The amount of residue you find back there will tell you if you need to clean more often, or less often. I use a puck screen to reduce the amount of coffee residue that gets behind the shower screen. Boiler bushing. Some bushings are made of brass. Brass is a SOFT metal, and is easily damaged. Your screwdriver has to again FIT the bushing well, and you have to HOLD the screwdriver down, so it does not round off the notch. If you round off the notch, you will have to send it in to a tech to remove. I have seen special tools to remove the bushing. If the bushing has never been replaced, the bushing could be REAL TIGHT or STUCK. "Discretion is the better part of valor." Know when to give up and have a tech remove the bushing. When you replace the bushing, do not make it tight. I turn till it just bottoms. Tip: When you remove the shower screen to clean the screen and bottom of the boiler, unscrew the bushing ONE turn, then screw it back in. What you are doing is making sure that the bushing does not freeze in place, and become HARD to remove, or STUCK. For parts that SCG does not have, go to Stefano's espressocare.com/

Good answer! Although for Jura it varies from model to model, hence why the Jura replacement scoops are model specific.

I typically use my espresso machine, and for that i usually use a bright-medium roast bean from Alma Coffee (Canton, Ga). either their Belen gaulcho, Honey process, or Natural process. But I also alternate in their main medium blend, Soulmate. I'm not a big fan of using darker roast/espresso roast for my coffees regardless of it being espresso, french press, or pour over/drip.

Thank you very much for explaining how to take the plastic out of it. My wife loves the machine but she hates the idea of having the plastic in there. When I went to the Breville store here in Taiwan, they told me it was impossible to take it out. Of course I should have figured that Seattle Coffee Gear would have the answer. I watched many videos on your channel and they are always extremely helpful. Again, thank you very much.

I was checking this video out to see if it would be worth it to upgrade from the Barista Express. After owning it for a year and buying some helpful accessories, I’ve gotten pretty good at tamping, steaming, and adjusting the grinder. So I guess I don’t need to upgrade since the more expensive models seem to just make the learning curve easier. Thanks for the very informative video!
