Why don’t more brands use the solar mecaquartz movement from Seiko? I’ve pretty much only seen it on aliexpress brands. Just seems like a no-brainer and a real missed opportunity. Changing batteries is not a fun experience.

@@YoureTerrific I’m not 100% sure if it’s a “mecaquartz” in the purest sense, in that it might just be full quartz without a mechanical element to it, but it is a solar Seiko movement that has a 3hz sweep for the chronograph seconds hand so i feel like it gets you most of the way there. I know Seiko has a range, SSC model names, or something like that, and Orient has one too. In terms of other brands using it I’ve seen exactly two: some kind of AliExpress brand called “Tactical Frog” and a microbrand called Farr and Swit.

I like them but IMO the best dial configuration for a VK-63 is the bi-compax layout: chrono minutes, 24-hr dial and no running seconds - with an hour hand. I don't think Brew has ever done that and they should.

Such a waste…24 hour dial Chrono when a VK-67 is readily available and just as cheap. A 12 hour totalizer is very useful. Try a window for the night time/day time thingy. It works! I will NEVER buy a 24 hour Chrono unless it’s a GS with GMT complication or something similar. A 12 hour totalizer is the way to go. That’s why all of the analog Chronos (except Zenith) that are icons have that sub-dial. Total fuel burn/time in flight…..they are TOOL watches. Fine show today. Thanks!
