So, I'm the residential mono-red mage at my LGS, and this Jaya deck is looking pretty neat! Have you thought about Captain Ripley Vance? I run that deck with all the Dash creatures I can, and it's surprisingly potent.

I love Jaya Ballard, I just recently made a deck with her, and I love her, it has alot of ramp in it, it has some underrated removal cars like "Scour from Existance" and "Introduction to Annihilation" (I feel like these should be auto includes in any RED deck to deal with Enchantments) not to meanting any lifelinking is insane, she's just a nice control card in a way and a huge finisher! Added in a few indestructible artifacts. Also some X spells since I have alot of ramp in the deck too! Crackle with fire for 13 x 5 at all the opponents is great! I personally don't focus on the discard aspect, I just add ways to refill my hand, the discard is just a cost for me, but this has gave me a few ideas. I do run Reforge the soul since I don't have money for a IRL Wheel of Fortune and I feel like Magnus won't survive for very long. Guess it just depends on your playgroup (which I don't have) I recently pulled a Ragavan foil so I'm trying to build a deck with im as the commander cuz why not? I don't play Modern and I don't sell cards so I might aswell have a $150 commander for once xD

Nice Seizan build! I built this exact strategy with almost all of the same cards you mentioned but in Mardu with Queen Marchesa as the commander. I love when people stop wanting the monarchy cuz they’re dying to card draw too fast. Being in red also gives you the benefit of wheels and red damage-based stax

Very nice, I actually have a Seizan deck and it's been my pet deck for a while. I just went on a slightly different direction, with less ping effect (beside the most obvious ones) and more effect similar to dark deal, and Ill gotten gains, and then some discard hate with megrim and Tergrid. Also lots of mana generation and finishers like exsanguinate and torment of hailfire. Just wins a lots of games witout getting any kind of hate, because will all these drawing effects, everyone gets to do what their deck wants to do and I love it, I'm definitely playing EDH for the pleasure of seeing what crazy stuff people though about and it's helping them showing this to me. And then they die but it's ok ;)

For Seizan don't forget Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted as another copy of Underword Dreams. You really need as many copies of that effect as you can to make sure you find one early.

I adore Jaya's design, she helps you play a lot of interesting MonoRed spells, without needing to worry too much about including burn. I once played vs a guy that did a pseudo landfall deck, where he had all the colorless ramp he could find, then included untappers and artifact recursion(like Goblin Welder) to recycle more ramp or just good artifacts. It was like MonoRed control. P.S: Mythos is pronounced Myth-os(os as in The Wizard of Oz, simple i know, welcome to Greek pronounciation XD)

I have a Jaya deck, it's insane and an awesome mono red control deck and you brewed it similar to how I play it, I lean harder on the color change theme and it's great fun

I have had a Jaya deck for maybe 7 years it was my first end deck and is quite a bit of fun. I found that distorting lense and painters serpent is not where you want to be as it makes your commander too big of a threat. Running the Protection from red swords is a must. So you can activate her last ability without killing her. The resent addition of witch’s clinic is also great giving her Lifelink from a land. Shadow spear or basilisk collar is great.

Seizan is by no means an underwhelming commander!! I have seen many Seizan decks and all of them are extremely enjoyable. Like Nekusar, but fun. :)

I think Nekusar dethroned Seizan when it came out. I was playing commander when that happened and I remember Seizan being very popular and then almost non-existent. Seizan is still a great budget version of the deck. Nekusar feels pretty bad about playing red and blue and not having Timetwister, Wheel of fortune, or Time Spiral. With Seizan you get a free excuse to not play those!

I used to run Seizan in a mono black group "hug" deck that was a ton of fun. I used cards like empty the catacombs, and exhume. It made for some chaotic games

seizan is my newest commander deck and I love it, every game is chaos some things I really like in seizan that I don't think are super useful in other decks: -duress effects are nice, when your opponents have such huge hands full of good cards, some hand disruption is nice, the fact they aren't good card advantage is offset by how many cards you are drawing each turn. -discard punishment effects (megrim etc), you can run lots of incidental discard and punishment effects like megrim since you know your opponents hands will always be full -temporal distortion

If you need more health for seizan deck, sangromancer is a great easy way to gain life and a flying blocker. Did my first game with nekusar recently and it was the mvp of the game.

Jaya was my 1st EDH deck. I've changed the commander several times, but I keep Jaya in the deck. Currently, the commanders are Dargo and Kediss.

I like the idea of off-setting the symmetry with Seizan by putting in discard effects.

Also worth noting that stax effects work great with seizan, because then they’re less likely to be able to use all the cards in their hand before. Like god pharaoh’s statue. Also this works well with black vise and ebony owl netsuke and the like

I always look forward to this series. This is peak commander IMO. These commanders really make you put the work in trying to make them formidable. Most of the newer commanders are just absolute value engines. Not as interesting or fun IMO.

I think you missed Ob Nixilis, The Hate-Twisted for the Seizan deck as another effect that damages opponents whenever they draw a card. It's also good removal.

With the jaya deck bag of holding has the potential to be really good, I've been sticking it in a lot of decks lately and it has exceeded expectations, especially if you don't care about your gy.

Niambi also works well with the new disturb legendary creatures like Dennick, Pious Apprentice so that's something to consider.

I forgot about Niambi. I would put Niambi into a Dennick deck. She could get your Dennick into position to be Disturbed all by herself - and draw you two cards and gain some life to boot.

I have a seizan deck n I treat it like mana black group hug until I get my waste not n black wheels with damage discard enchantments. I rarely win but it lets everyone play their decks and watching everyone draw 8 cards a turn is pretty fun. I only ask that they kill be last.

Please excuse me as I'm a newer EDH player and sometimes don't understand the cards. But isn't Jaya's abilities mana abilities? So the bracers wouldn't copy because your paying one red and tapping then discarding so isn't that a mana abilities? Could someone please clearly this for me because I find this deck cool and would like to try to put one together also including rings of brightearth.

a mana ability is an ability that gives mana, like form a sol ring.
