I'm from the SE Michigan area, so very familiar with Cedar Point. First time going to Cedar Point after Millenium Force was built, there's a point where you can the park's skyline across the water from the road. You're still like 30 minutes away, yet you clearly see the first drop go into the coaster before it goes straight. Holy crap!!! Then when you're actually on the ride going down that first drop and you see no tracks until you're halfway down. Holy double crap!!!

I was there back in 2001. Had to wait like 3 hours just to ride Millennium Force. If you wanted front car, add another 2 hours. Anoher ride I liked was the Mantis. Felt weird standing up while going through loops. My buddies and I piled in my 94 Pontiac Sunbird and drove like 6 hours from Pa to spend a weekend at that park. Loved it!

As someone who has rode all three of these rides, the magnum had a futuristic design bc at the time it was meant to be a sign that it was a broken record for its time, being 200 feet was "unbelievable". The Millenium Force is by far in my top three of Cedar Pointe, it has some of the best G-Forces that don't make your face compress backwards and is overall an enjoyable thrill ride. Ah, good ol' Top Thrill, the last ride that I rode at Cedar Pointe the last time i was there. Was never lucky enough to get a rollback but lucky enough to have rode it during its lifetime. During all of 2022 it was shut down and it doesn't seem to be coming back, at least under the same name. Not a whole lot is public knowledge as of writing this but what I can say is that from the top on a clear day, you can in fact see Canada. The last one i'll write abt is not one that was discussed in the video, however that is because it was formerly a wooden coaster up until a few years back. Steel Vengeance, formerly the Mean Streak, is a hybrid coaster using steelhorse tracks in a giant hive of wooden supports. It does several corkscrew inversions and all sorts of fun dynamic movements. There are no overhead harnesses but it does clamp you into the seat by your legs and a seatbelt (first iterations of the leg mechanisms did not have handlebars but they later added them when they got feedback of riders not having anywhere to safely put their hands) And thus, an overly long comment abt these rides plus the Steel Vengeance

5:08 They don't need to shut it down. According to ride designers and operators, a slight change in the weather can cause a rollback. The hydraulic launch system of the ride acts as a braking system in case the train does roll back. If the train rolls back, the ride computer automatically adds just enough energy to the next launch to make it over. The same system exists on Kingda Ka, the roller coaster in Jackson, New Jersey at Six Flags Great Adventure that's pretty much a clone of Top Thrill Dragster, but 36 feet taller and a bit faster with an extra airtime hill.

Regarding Top Thrill I’ve always found it crazy that there isn’t a 100% success rate of the trains getting over the hill, I was always waiting for it to be closed one day and be fixed but it never was now it’s getting completely shut down for something else

Because the catapult system is based off the amount of weight on the train and I suppose sometimes it’s either not completely accurate or you could also just encounter a lot of wind resistance that isn’t accounted for. You don’t make it over every time because there isn’t a chain like in a normal roller coaster to pull you over the hump.
