They remind me of my own haunting encounters. Also, there is a third reaction in addition to fight or flight, and that is freezing. It is the inability to react and it is terrifying when it happens.

People don't believe that this kind of shit happens, until it happens to them personally. My husband was a skeptic when it came to ghosts, and he used to make fun of me for telling him that our house is haunted. I have lived here for nine years, and so much freaky shit happened. We used to hear a lady singing every night between the hours of 1:00am and 3:30am. It started out sounding soothing, it sounded like a lady singing to a baby. Then after about an hour it would take on this creepy, sinister tone. It went on for months. Then one day I was fixing lunch for myself and our daughter who was about three years old at the time. I heard a grumbly man's voice calling out to my husband from the basement. It sounded dead. "Miiiike! Miiichaeeellll!..." I ignored it and thought to myself that I was just imagining it, trying to convince myself that I was just scaring myself. Then our daughter says, "Mommy, why is Grandpa in the basement? And why is he calling Daddy? He knows daddy's workin'." I was absolutely terrified because she confirmed that I did in fact hear a man's voice calling out to my husband and our daughter and I were home alone. Nobody was there but us. We have heard the front door open and close. We have heard someone come through the front door and make their way up the stairs. I'm talking running, heavy falling footsteps and our daughter and I went to the top of the stairs expecting my husband but nobody was there. There have been times where four people have heard the footsteps coming upstairs at the same time and there was nothing, nobody there. My husband nearly shit himself one night, he was sitting in our upstairs TV room watching TV. There's a door that leads to the attic stairwell. Well, something pounded on the attic door from the inside of the locked attic door. It pounded three times and it was pounding so hard the door moved on the hinges. There's nobody up there, nothing that could have caused that. One time the police showed up at our house telling us that a little girl called 911 from our landline. Nobody was anywhere near a phone. The cordless phones were both in their bases and nobody called anyone. My husband was cooking dinner, I was vacuuming the foyer, our daughter was five months old and sleeping upstairs in her crib. My husband's grandmother who had serious mobility issues was sitting in her recliner and the phone was across the room in it's base. There was no way. That was freaky as fuck. The house was built in 1906, and we know of two deaths. We have dealt with some crazy paranormal activity in this house. March is the month where it gets really active, but it's not as bad as it used to be. We started to ignore it and I stopped engaging with it and it kind of just went away. We still have small things happening here and there, but it's not as blatant and as terrifying as it was four to eight years ago.
