It's even more depressing when you realise that Cameron only called the referendum so he didn't lose a few seats to UKIP (who have pretty much been dying ever since Nigel Farage left the party), so in a way, it feels like it was all for nothing.

N.I isnt really a loss, if they wish to reunify thats good, we no longer have the issue of the IRA stuff, extra money sent to them is used elsewhere. Scotland could be an issue, however they currently are given more than is gained from them per person, if they leave they will find they cant rejoin the EU anyway, Belgium and Spain are very likely to block them, meaning its a case of stick to the UK or go it alone. Either way, good luck to them if they democratically wish to leave.

@Fhjthnl Lol Iuyo What is a good prank, however, is the way your country is and has been in utter political, economic and social mayhem by opting for this self-destructive path of "self-governance" and "protecting its rights". Unfortunately enough, a great many smart people (the Scottish and the Londoners, mostly) share their beautiful country with a lot of negligent people, of which you most certainly are part. Brexit was a huge mistake. For everybody. Don't try to hide it.
@TheGamingAirCon
@TheGamingAirCon 5 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanhenry1527 agreed. also "protecting our rights" our rights were already protected. if they mean stricter immigration control so that they don't lose a minimum wage job to a foreigner, then that's primarily their fault that someone who has most likely been through hell, and has a worse education is more appropriate for a job than someone who has literally been fed with a silver spoon compared to people in other countries, and has access to one of the best(although it is not the best- that belongs to the scandinavian countries) but has not utilised it.

Oh for crying out loud. I am a Commonwealth citizen, I am a Canadian living in Europe. To be more specific I have two nationalities, a Canadian and EU nationality. Our (Commonwealth) nations have made it clear that we WILL NOT be your replacement if you leave the EU. We've moved on, we have our own trade blocs and unions and we will listen to you less now. In order to pursue my goals and be close to my family I was hoping to first come to the UK with a Tier 5 document and after two years continue with my EU citizenship. I don't need to say anymore after that.

And when you consider that a significant percentage of the 48% who voted to stay in are not native to Britain and do not feel beholden to the traditions and freedoms that she stands for, then this vote takes on more than just the expression of what is being called "a divided Britain". If you subtract this nouveau-emigre internationalist element (who have neither knowledge of nor interest in the British liberal tradition) then you end up with a true groundswell of majority support for independence from the EU. The 52%, in all actuality, becomes probably somewhere around at least 60+% of the true British population.

You don't think the system we have today is in anyway similar to medieval feudalism? OK, in the middle ages we would've given our fruit of labor to the nobles for protection and land. In modern day society we give our land to bankers and still expected to work. So perhaps you're right, its worse than feudalism cause we're not getting anything out of it. We pay tax to allow these nobles today to bomb other countries while taking out debt that can never be paid back cause the debt or interest doesn't exist in a debt based monetary system. And when we can't pay it back they take our land/property/cars etc So you can't say its close to communism nor is it capitalism.. Personally i think its closer to feudalism.

***** So whens the last time one democratic country attacked another one? We could hardly call WW11 a war against a democracy state. For me the EU is the test child of a one world single currency with all the leaders packed into one building which has went incredibly wrong as its filled with lobbyists. In fact the EU isn't even democratic Martin Schulz = Germany= European Parliament= Party of European Socialists.. Did you vote for him? Note the word "Socialists" Is he left wing Marxist thinker? Donald Tusk= European Council= European People's Party.. Did you vote for him, People's party hey, i never voted for him, in fact i don't even know who this guy is. Yet he claims to be head of the people's party. Then again the European Council doesn't make any laws or regulations. Mark Rutte = Council of Ministers= Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party, Did you vote for him? What about Jean-Claude Juncker the President of the European Commission, vote for him? Truth is no one outside of these parties voted for these people. Sure we voted for local representatives which then voted these people into presidents seats. Who are these people and what do they do? The truth again, they do NOTHING, its the round table of industrialists that write the rules. Can you name me the building where votes are taken for new legislation to be passed? Before any new law is passed in the European Parliament its first handed to the Commission who then .. get this .. The Commission consults interested parties such as "non-governmental" organisations such as businesses!! Who will then allow it or lobby against it. So therefore, who's making the rules? You me or the corporations? British people like myself, we get it !! Pity others don't !!

With a democracy you don't always win. Some people seriously need to understand that. Too many people seem to think it's okay to call everyone who voted leave racist - even though that very insult proves how much you really know about the politics behind the leave parties. More people voted leave. That's it. You can disagree, that's fine but your chance to disagree was the 23rd June 2016. If you didn't vote then you have no right to complain about the results. If you can't vote because of age then that's just how it is - there has to be a line to draw with age or when does it stop? If you voted remain then you too have no right to complain, you took part in democracy and lost. Suck it up and realise that you csnf always win. Both sides lied. Both sides bullshitted. Both sides had good arguments. Both sides had good counter arguments. Point is, we as a country decided by majority to leave. You can't ignore that or par it off as 'racist, old views' just because you didn't get your way.

Exactly. Unfortunately, real racism does exist. But there is *no way* that the 17 million people in the UK who voted to leave are all racists; many of them had legitimate reasons for wanting to leave the EU. And, whether people like it or not, the result we got was decided democratically; to overturn that result instantly would make us no better than a third-world dictatorship. The people have spoken, and the will of the British people must always be respected.

The EU referendum shows that all most people remember about politics is the last propaganda headline they read, than what actually happens. They parrot on about Tony Blair and Iraq, but don't even remember that Tories had made us the so deeply involved as 2nd largest force with USA in region we couldn't have left if we wanted, which is why more Tory MPs voted yes to 2nd war than other Parties. It all stemmed from despite Tories getting us involved in European market in first place when they thought it would only be good for their tax dodging corporate donors, as soon as the EU was preventing them mistreating British people for few at top to benefit with making companies label genetically modified ingredients and allowing workers enough holidays, Thatcher started making the rest of Europe hate us to turn us into a USA state. She made us only country which allowed USA to use us as airport to bomb Libya which killed Gaddafi's child and led to Lockerbie. Other countries wouldn't give them airspace to make them fly around. Then despite more British troops being killed by USA 'friendly' fire than by Iraq in 1st Iraq war, John Major committed us to staying in the region as 2nd largest force, so we had many contracts, troops and equipments there were we couldn't have left. Then made Ireland on the other side hate us by making no attempt at a peace plan, putting us all in danger, and Scotland hate England. All while making more British people suffer than ever before, by making millions unemployed, leaving us with economy closely tied to the USA based on not much more than banking which crashes every few years when nobody can pay back debts they're encouraged to live on. It even crashed by early 90s, giving them excuse to not put money into what public services they hadn't stolen and sold off, making them worst in Europe. Some say it's about immigration or Islamic extremism, when it's UN who set out non EU asylum, and there will be more if we're USA lap dog, arming extremists in Syria, to overthrow Assad where Christians have lived in peace for 1000s of years. USA armed and trained extremists in Afghanistan to get one over on Russia. We have higher level of Muslims than many EU countries because of empire. Some people are deluded enough to think if money wasn't spent on the EU it would get spent on the NHS, when Tories don't believe in the NHS. Their whole existence is to help few at the top, while making the poor, or unselfish, happy to get by not being a slave for few at the top life as difficult as possible. That's why as soon as they last came into power they reduced tax for the rich, while increasing much tax for others with increased VAT, bedroom tax and student fees. Some say but we can vote Tories out of power, while forgetting that all most people remember about politics is last propaganda headline they read, blaming everybody else for what Tories cause, until they end up crying on Question Time because they believed them. Maybe Scotland can be lucky enough to demand another referendum to leave the UK to become a free of Tories and separate nation in the EU, as Tories harm more British people than the EU. I hope Nigel Farage won't be welcomed into the Tory party with his foreign wife who he employs on expenses, after many thought it's about immigration.

I'm an outsider, I'm Polish. I know that there's so many Poles in here, especially in London. But I came here to live a better life, to continue my studies and not be scared of being bullied because of who I am. In Poland being a homosexual and atheist is a death sentence. People will do everything they can to destroy you, because you're not "normal". My father is an alcoholic and my mother and I decided to try to live in the UK, joining my sister. We're not rich, my mother is working as a cleaner at the gym, while I study at the college and next year I'm progressing onto my GCSEs. We didn't do anything wrong, we're living a normal life. Now, as Britain decided to live the EU, it'll be harder for us, outsiders who are trying to live a normal life, because in their country it's impossible. Maybe there is too many Indian or Polish people in the UK, but hey, we're people. Some of us came in here to work and study, some of us came here to take benefits and do nothing. Do you really want to get rid of us, especially of this working and studying part? And I don't think the UK is strong enough to pull off their own economy, it's not time yet. By the way, to the all "Leave" voters, thank you for ruining outsiders' and youths' lives. You're just making it harder for us. Are you proud now?

+Steve Abnormal Rogers Yes, I've worked with many Polish people and Romanians and they think they run the place and are very rude and most don't even learn the language before coming here (which starts arguments and misunderstandings at work which again they worsen with their rudeness) they also don't have any love for this country or even knowledge. Plus many just take their earnings from this country into their own where it's worth more.

First of all I love Poland and I come there quite often (Poznan), and I know Poland has benefited quite well from the EU. But your argument is nasty and some kind emotional blackmail. First of all, you have no idea what they will decide about people like you. Ok, that's also not nice, but maybe it is just a bit worries, but nothing will change. You don't know. But on the long-term the EU won't work, it only works for the big multinationals. You are now maybe a bit blinded, because in Poland there is a lot of progress. In other countries there was a lot of regress. That doens't have too be bad, but just too show you the EU is not some kind of well doing economy. And just playing tricks too keeps the financial balance look ok. Anyway, the EU also became way to undemocratic. People don't know who is deciding for 70% of the laws they have to follow (name me 5 out of the 751 EU parliament members). And people start too loose interest in politics. That's bad in a DEMOCRACY. Further there are a lot more arguments why the EU isn't working. The only pro-argument I hear is safety and money. For money I am not convinced, and should also not be the main reason. And for safety I also seriously have doubts. Who wants to fight and risk his (kid's dad) life , for the future of Europe? Think the European "nationalism" didn't rise that far yet. Rather the opposite. Also we know what EU's partner, the USA is playing dirty tricks in the world. And that ball will return once. At least that's the only real danger I see in the near future, and EU is more (seen as) a partner from the USA, and as an attack vector, then the separate countries.

dcvbhtrdf But this doesn't mean everyone is like that. For example, I was studying English at school, but basically I've gained all the experience by myself. I'm not rude to anyone, I'm always trying to understand the person I'm talking to. And I love the UK more than my original country, as people are open minded, the culture is beautiful and views are just brilliant. But the case of earnings being converted into Polish currency, here we can argue. Basically it's hard to live in Poland, while the minimum wage is £340 per month. It's easier to come to the UK, work for a couple of months and come back with the money in Pounds. When you're poor, you don't have a choice. Some people are abusing the Pound, but sometimes people do it, because it's necessary for them to survive.

@sharky2414
@sharky2414 5 жыл бұрын
Nemon Bettshaft we live in a democracy so the people have a say in major issues. This is a major issue. The last time anyone had a say in the eu was over 40 years ago. Thousands of people were calling for the referendum. In 2012 it reached boiling point and Cameron said he would not call a referendum. Then years later it was still being demanded. Cameron promised the people that if he was to be re-elected he would have an EU referendum. They elected him knowing he was promising this. So how can it be his fault? Voters: give us a eu referendum! PM: No Voters: GIVE US A EU REFERENDUM! PM: Ok ok, If I get re-elected I *promise* I will hold a referendum. Voters: Alright we vote Cameron PM: here is the referendum I strongly suggest we stay. Please for the love of god stay. Voters: No! we want to leave. Get us out! Kick out the emigrants! Take back our jobs! PM: I don’t want to lead the country in a direction I don’t like, but I respect the will of the people and will hereby resign. Voters: Oh look at the mess we are in! Evil man! He should have never called that referendum the vile creature! It’s all his fault! Come on, the people did this to themselves. You honestly expect Cameron to have stayed for a total of 10 potentially 12 years? Spending 4 years negotiating a Brexit deal he doesn’t believe in. Resigning and making room for a fresh government designed specifically to tackle Brexit was the best thing he could have done. We don’t need him specifically to “help us through this” he doesn’t have any more knowledge on the matter then our current government.
@sharky2414
@sharky2414 5 жыл бұрын
Nemon Bettshaft the issue here is that we live in a democracy. Realistically your mean to have this sort of referendum every 15 or so years. It was 40 years. The people themselves are the ones who petitioned for it. As I said the conservatives said no. They said NO in 2012. The pressure mounted so they agreed. What your forgetting is it was a part of their mandate. Their manifesto said vote for us and we guarantee you this referendum. *Voting for conservative was agreeing to having the referendum.* The question was do you want to leave not how do oh want to leave that’s for the government to decide among themselves
@sharky2414
@sharky2414 5 жыл бұрын
Nemon Bettshaft if you think it should have been a brexiteer to lead the uk forward then you would agree that Cameron did the right thing in resigning. David Cameron did not have a say in who would follow in his footsteps he did say he was leaving because it’s not something he believes is right. Not having had triggered article 50 would have caused more delay. Because stubborn mps were spending most of the precious time arguing for Theresa to not go through with Brexit. (She is allowed to ignore the people) more waiting time means more uncertainty for the uk, affecting the economy and so on. It’s not like we’re going to run out of time we can always extend it as we have already done. We have until May. The PM has asked if they want her deal twice they say no. She has asked if they want a no deal they say no. They agree on a delay. To be honest the mps are more at fault here then anyone else. The MP has tried the EU are being just as stubborn in their demands. If you want to blame anyone, First to blame are the voters and those who didn’t bother voting. Second to blame are the leave politicians that mislead the public Third to blame are the mps who refuse to agree to anything whatsoever.
@sharky2414
@sharky2414 5 жыл бұрын
Nemon Bettshaft it doesn’t matter how much you hate them your personal hatred will not make them “never again govern”. You say you will never again vote for this party which insinuates you normally vote for the conservatives. In doing so you voted for a EU referendum. Ignorant people like you are to blame. When you voted for conservatives you were voting for a a EU referendum Because they *Promised* to hold the referendum if they got elected. They wouldn’t have promised this if it wasn’t what everyone wanted. I’m telling you in 2012 there were protests outside parliament to call for the EU referendum at the time they said no. Let me get this very clear *They promised to do it if they were elected* If the people didn’t want this they wouldn’t have voted conservative. They wouldn’t have protested. It’s been 40 bloody years without having a say. Normally they are asked every 20 years maximum. They wanted this. It was given to them. Then in the actual vote they said they wanted to leave. Most of the Conservative party were campaigning for them NOT to leave. The people are to blame. All the mps conservatives and labour can’t agree on what the best way to leave is. Not just the conservatives not just the PM everyone in the chamber.

+Drakotar Well that's if investors will continue to invest; that there are no negotiations required when we leave; that we'll get special preference; that the value of the pound won't continue to fall; that taxes don't get bumped up due to extreme debt and accumulative plutocratic taxes. Which, by the way, none of that will happen; as investors are pulling out, trade negotiations won't start for 2 years till after we leave and even then take anywhere between 4 and 17 years to agree, where the pound is continuing to fall, while the EU have specifically said there will be no special preference to trade with the U.K., whilst as a result of all this, as well as a corrupt torie party, expect taxes to go up for the working and middle class. So yes, right now and in the long run, Tesco shopping will be more expensive.

why is he resigning? bcoz he lost his case that he passed forward? the case he didn't even needed to do, yet he still did it on a whim. He says he will do everything he can, and yet he basically quits. A man, maybe good, intelligent and professional by nature, but such a coward to have lead this nation stronger.

"We don't like democracy so let's throw a tantrum and demand other votes till we get what we want" I'm 20 years old and the way my generation has behaved genuinely makes me think the voting age should be raised. Do you not understand how a democracy works ?
@simanagurung7321
@simanagurung7321 8 жыл бұрын
MrSamuel539 Congrats for being 20; I'm 15. Democracy is great, and we are fortunate to have it. However, don't you think its unfair that 95 year olds got to vote but not 16, 17 year olds whose lives are going to be affected the most. And it seems that many leave votes were misleaded in thinking the money we give to the eu was going to go to the NHS. Now that people are more educated with both campaigns and outcomes, I think the outcome would be different the next time around.

Glitterbug "democracy is great but don't you think we should pick and choose who can vote". I'd trust a pensioner who's lived with a vote, far more than a jumped up student who doesn't know life outside a class room. Respect the elderly, their generation fought for the NHS and made it possible for us to have a decent education. They survived before Eu they know we'll survive after it. Have faith in your country and stop being brainwashed by the bias news outlets

nah... as a remainer i don't think you can lay the blame at him, sure he called the referendum but he was under incredible pressure from his own party, opponents and the public to do so, and even if the referendum/leave campaign was misleading or straight up based on lies, him choosing not to respect the result would have been borderline authoritarian

HNIC Political correctness stifles progress because we're too afraid to call out problems and actually work together on fixing them, "bipartisan" as a concept is completely dead no matter how many politicians keep spouting it which has resulted in a shit-flinging contest between the parties, media is full of shit and just adds to the confusion and noise via fear-mongering, the general populace is incredibly ignorant and gullible and thinks the government gives a piss about them. I haven't even gotten to the constant scape-goating by politicians, the corruption in major cities, voting fraud and corruption, and the fact that even _if_ the voting was fair, our only 2 choices are a bleeding fool and a horrid, vapid woman. That's what's bleak, to put it lightly
