Sure many on TLDR wouldn't wish to listen to Gove on Wed 19th so here is some info taken from questions at the commons as he provided an update: So Brexit update chances of securing a deal at present = 'less than 2/3rds" There's a team directly in place to sort out the agri-food trade for the N.Ireland into Eu territory and working directly at making that up to seamless. IT not yet ready to roll out. EU goods in Ireland that move to NIreland are not to checked by EU officials but by UK and looking to give EU assurance where poss. No customs need declared from NI-UK (One of the things in UK's hands to make arrangements for) N.Ireland citizenship is solved. Rights as Eu/Family in mainland, 4,000,000 citizens in UK secure as well as the 1,000,000 UK in Eu. Michel Barnier has agreed to intensified talks (EU's UK Task Force Head) UK working with optimism ahead rather than look back at roadblocks. Positive movement by EU is taking place since their previous statements. UK says EU didn't wish to talk legal texts as it too heavy to arrange the docs, now willing. 27 inland UK border checkpoints are being setup. The amount of custom agents to work effectively is 'a matter for the market' EU block access to Europe criminal database, unless we accept Europe court of justice. Scottish costal fishing policy is in conflict so we would end up back in the EU common fisheries policy We've been pushing to talk Services deal, EU hard pushing Agri-goods. UK expecting to need to support lamb farmers in event of no deal. (Europe is 60% trade of Wales) Freight Size Ports receiving funding to sustain and grow. Canada deal, before dissing further requires agreeing to EU courts. Pharmaceuticals to restock after covid. UK dose not produce insulin, Radioactive isotopes can not be stockpiled. Rapid access required, pub health eng & dept of transport have contingency in event of any disruption. Freight arranged to flow freely with EU to avoid the possibility of disruption. 'Smart freight' (The IT system) in beta, being shared arm for system feedback. "Hoped" to next in place by Jan 1. If not, "other less efficient methods will have to be done." UK Agri-foods being heavily invested in to expand share in domestic market, to the expand as exporters as well. State market aid will be UK policy no longer the EU policy and must be in lines not unfairly disrupt the market. UK automotive industry worried about not being able to export cars and like 11% of all UK exports. (Due to tariffs mentioned in the TLDR Video) Navy, aircraft and drones ready to protect UK fishing boats. Satnav will not be affected (joint ownership programming of the satellite) UK open and will agree happily agree specific deals like that on haulage and security. (Aus style again) Data sharing 'should' not be a problem and we 'should' get the adequate stamp by the EU based on our application (finance, eu-pol, etc) most sec tools will he made avail but are one or two due to data laws that proving difficult. Trade minister work setting up free trade agreement with Aus at current. Previous report there are 36% of businesses left that have not taken preparations for Jan 1st

If there is no deal, it would be a burden on trade on both sides, but the EU has far less at stake than the UK. The UK is an important trading partner of the EU, no question. But trade with the UK represents only about one-eighth of the EU's total trade. In contrast, trade with the EU represents about half of the UK's total trade. So if anyone should have a strong interest in getting a good deal, it should be the UK, instead it looks like the EU is the only one that wants a deal.

A deal will be made eventually, it's beneficial for both parties. I however don't think they'll have a deal ready before the transition period ends, it would be nice if it did though. Excessively prolonged inconclusive negotiations are sometimes the only possible result when incompatible positions cannot be finessed. If the 2015-2016 UK-EU negotiations had been undertaken seriously, done with something like real intent, the Cameron Government's promised referendum might have been very different. Substantially pro-forma negotiation then seems to have led to the current far-more-serious negotiations in much less favorable conditions.

I am German, we sell our goods everywhere in the world, with or without tariffs, because they are known for the quality. If you want a Porsche, Mercedes or BMW, you're not gonna buy a Mini instead because you have to pay 10% tariffs on the German cars. In return I absolutely don't care for imports from Britain, there's nothing they do better than what is already available in the EU. I really pity the people of Scotland and northern Ireland and i hope they get the choice to reunite/rejoin the EU. The EU should not back down a single millimeter in those negotiations, since we already catered the UK to join and stay too much. The EU is a peace and friendship program, and apparently some members only use it for their advantages and when it gets hard, they try to leave. I see this as treason to all the principles the EU was founded on.

I think the UK will eventually leave without a deal, maybe with a deal in the works, but it wont be done in time. But soon after, maybe as soon as within a few months but probably within the first year, there will be some sort of deal in place. But I would guess it only covers a few of the most pressing issues and putting the rest on some sort of hold. And that deal is going to be more in favour to the EU. Because a UK post no-deal Brexit will be in a worse position to negotiate than now. Especially if Scotland and Northern Ireland really start to seriously go for independence. And then there will be endless negations upon negations of deals the coming decade if not decades of different trade deals.

My bet is that they'll run out of time and call for an extension, at which point the parliaments will say "bugger all that" and cancel everything (the UK parliament would probably OK an extension but the EU's would not). Qué panic & mayhem 💷 🇮🇪 🚗, 🎣

Let them just stick to their Brexit and please leave us without a deal. Some nations will suffer more but I don't think any EU nation will collapse because of a no deal brexit (neither will the UK). I'm so sick of the UK and their rhetorics ATM.

The addition of governance and energy as separate topics tells a lot. For example, level playing field might be agreed, and then the governance of the same is not blocking that stream. Another viewpoint is fishing might be tricky, but there could be a carrot/stick in the energy element. IMHO, a deal will be arrived at. Level playing field will be managed with some mixture of equivalence and common certification. Governance will be handled by a new common court. Fishing will be managed on a 5 year basis, and so will energy - so they will be effectively tied together. France will do well out of the energy (as will the UK), and fishing will be shared with more going to the UK. All side will claim victory, but the largest cost will be the UK's.

I think it's going to be no deal Brexit because neither side will backdown over their demands and, ultimately, both side want to be in a position to blame each other for the collapse in talks.

To be frank, I believe there will be a no deal, 2021 will be nastily ghastly for both parties because of it, and then a CETA+ will be agreed in 2022 due to it. They will give leeway on State Aid to Britain, but will hold a certain degree of control, and Britain will give some of its fisheries back.

That was to leave. Hence we left. Within days of the election result the law was passed. Did you think it meant the future trade deal? Which the EU wouldn't start negotiating until after we left? How would that have been already a month before they even started talking? Time machine? Did you vote conservative assuming the oven ready deal included the future? In which case your error. Or are you saying you of course knew when Boris said oven ready deal it only meant the leaving. But everyone else didn't.

@@danielwebb8402 I remember Boris Johnson assuring UK businesses they could anticipate on frictionless access to EU internal markets and investments in their businesses would be safe. The supply chain would still work flawless after Brexit. The EU needs the UK for their exports. Haha, they could count on him, he had an oven-ready deal. Now it is almost November and he has nothing, he could not even keep to his own withdrawal agreement. The only thing he did is humiliating the UK in front of the whole world press, crawling back to the negotiating table after his third ultimatum. But yes, he had no choice, he is with his back to the wall. Suddenly, it will go faster now, that is for sure...
@danielwebb84024 жыл бұрын
@@luxembourger He said in the election campaign all those things? Any links as keen to learn. I've just opened the manifesto. It says they will put the deal through parliament and leave in January. They did. It says "It is signed, sealed and ready. It puts ... on a path to a new free trade agreement" Both of those things were true. Both sides have always said no deal is better than a bad deal. Just May never acted that way.

We should compromise on fishing. It only represents 0.7% of GDP and is relatively unimportant compared to the prospect of a EU deal. Plus a significant portion of UK fish is sold to the EU which would be difficult in a no deal scenario. I'm hopeful for a deal though now. A lot of what we have seen is brinkmanship, the EU in particular want to make leaving the EU seem as difficult and damaging as possible to deter similar populist movements from happening again. They simultaneously want to reach a deal whilst making it look like they *nearly* didn't reach one
