If one big government is bad, imagine how much worse two big governments would be. But that’s what people living in Europe have had to deal with: their own nation’s bloated government and the super-national government of Europe, now known as the European Union. Bureaucracy times two! How’s that for a horror show?
Well, actually, you’ve no idea. It’s worse than you think. Believe me-I know, because for seventeen years, I’ve represented South East England as a member of the European Parliament, the EU’s legislative body. I was also leader of the UK Independence Party, or UKIP, where I lead Britain’s efforts to leave the European Union. To their everlasting credit, that’s just what happened on June the 23rd, 2016: The United Kingdom left the European Union. The world knows it as “Brexit.”
Brexit is a statement of national sovereignty. Don’t misunderstand me: I like nations. I like borders. I like the people that live within those borders making their own laws. But I don’t like it when faceless bureaucrats make laws for nations they don’t even live in.
But that’s what they do in the European Union.
Imagine a Belgian telling a Brit how much he can charge his customers-or the reverse. The EU bureaucrats do this in a myriad of different ways, all day, every day. It is a conspiracy of the elites.
Who are those elites? Well, they’re a bunch of self-important, overpaid, social engineers with useless college degrees who have never done a proper day’s work in their lives and have no connection with ordinary, decent people. I’ll take the good sense of an Italian farmer or a French baker over the arid intellectualism of an EU bureaucrat any day.
And I say these things not as an anti-European; I love Europe! It’s a fantastic, exciting, great continent: different peoples, languages, and cultures. But these peoples, with their languages and cultures, have effectively been hijacked by a giant, ever-expanding bureaucracy: the European Union.
People will say, “but isn’t there a parliament, a European parliament, that represents the people of Europe?” Well, yes, but this body has got no real power; it can’t make its own laws. Rather, the power resides with the European Commission. They’re unelected and they can’t be removed, and that’s how absurd the whole thing is.
The European Parliament meets in Brussels. At least, that’s what I thought when I was elected there. But once a month, do you know what happens? They load the contents of our offices and papers into big, plastic trunks, and they put those trunks on lorries, and they drive them nearly 400 miles down Europe’s motorways to a French city called Strasbourg where, for four days, the contents of our offices, and our papers, are put into a new office, and the parliament then sits there. Twelve times a year this back-and-forth happens, and this from an organization who say they want to reduce their level of carbon footprint! This, from an organization whose accounts have not been given a clean bill of health by the auditors for the last twenty years!
This…a parliament? It’s more like a traveling circus.

Remember fools: it is the EU that slow the process down...they do not want GB to "get away", so they tries to stop it, or postpone it - and when Brexit has happen they want to see that GB is doing badly....just to falsely prove that they are right and EU is great.... EU will fail and people will clearly see that GB will be both free and doing well in the future. EU is a prison for European states...and some people can not see it.

You should try See it from another insiders perspective as well tho. Mr. Farage is very good rethoricly, but that doesn‘t necessarily mean he is right. I live in the EU as well and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to leave it. There is much criticism that I have for the EU institutions, but I don’t think that we Europeans are off any better when we abandon the EU and everyone tries for himself, since then China and the US will dictate what happens in this world. Some tasks can’t even be performed by a state alone like defence or border security. So the only way for the Europeans to have a voice and to have a stable environment is the European Union.
@BeatYourHeadIn
@BeatYourHeadIn 6 жыл бұрын
The defence of Europe could be handled through other means such as a treaty system like NATO. All the nations of NATO cooperate militarily and they don't belong to a "North Atlantic Union". Combined the nations of Europe can field the third largest military force in the world, and they really wouldn't need anything beyond a NATO like system to accomplish it.

@@bruh949 the depreciated currency has a really positive effect on the dutch export. Because the prices of dutch goods and services are lower outside of the eurozone the demand is higher. I cant tell you what effect this has for Greece because i dont know how much they import and export. But i can imagine that it killed their export because the euro is valued higher than their national currency would have been. About the EU being undemocratic that is why there should be reforms which give more power to the parlement and less to the commision.

Wanna know something fun? I'm from Spain, a country where a lot of people live in rural areas in comparison with other european developed countries. The fun thing is that neither townhalls or local administration can legislate over stupidly specific issues like what to do with the carcass of a dead cow or how or how many of a product can a farmer produce because it's a parlament in belgium who decides it. It's simply senseless, we changed the soviet union for the european one. But to be fair, it has to be said that the EU has also done a lot of positive things, in my opinion more important that the bad ones, currently the problem is that the system needs a several update that no salaried bureaucrat is willing to do. The ratio between positive stuff/bureaucratic trash is decreasing worryingly quick.

There have been three treaties since we joined this club in 73, every one of those took us further into this shit without the people ever getting a say on the matter, Cameron was shitting himself over UKIP's rise in popularity so to remove that party from the equation he offered the referendum thinking the country was brainwashed enough, he made the wrong bet. However the real reason was that in our common law of this land the PEOPLE ARE SOVEREIGN, and not parliament nor the monarchy have the power to give this country to foreign rule/power outside time of war (defeat) and due to the wording of the Lisbon treaty with regard to any country wanting to leave the club would need the permission of every other member state which in effect would remove our sovereignty he had no other choice but to put the vote to the people. Both sides lied throughout the campaign but the people here decided they preferred being a sovereign nation rather than a tit for the EU to suckle at, hence BREXIT, glad you think having your own nation is hilarious so which tin pot are you from.

It really is upsetting when facts are being distorted and only one side of the argument is being shown. EU doesn't make laws out of thin air. The law regarding why UK should catch only a certain amount of fish per year is because if left unchecked, we'll run out of fish in no time. Fish are not infinite. Rate at which we catch fish needs to be only high enough to allow the fish to reproduce so that their populations can stay sustainable and so that we can feed ourselves for longer, and not run out within a few years. Also, it would be more accurate if someone less biased was to give a speech on EU. Having Nigel Farage (the face of Brexit) tell us about the EU is the same as having Kim Jung Un give a speech on democracy and the American values.

I am a Conservative and support Brexit and all but even I can see Britain is nothing more than a satellite state of the United States which is why they refused to join the European Union. Makes sense because the default British strategy in case of war consists of hiding in their island, keeping a large fleet of warships to prevent the enemy from landing in their lands so they won't have to fight (like men) and then the most important part, BEG the United States (Britain's historic boyfriend) to please come fight for them and save them; that's what they did in the two world wars. That's why they've made so much of the battle of Trafalgar when, in real-life, it had a little practical immediate effect and Napoleon barely sighed when receiving the news. But the British keep celebrating that victory because fighting on sea is all they can do, whenever they fight at land they get their sorry asses kicked even against "inferior" enemies such as Elphinstone's army in Afghanistan, Isandlwana, the American revolutionary war, Dunkirk, the Jews at Palestine, the Dutch at Medway (after which the British lost their fleet which meant their island was open to invasion after which they panicked and surrendered ending the war rather than fighting like men), Buenos Aires (twice), Majuba (against the Boers, where a bunch of Boer farmers and boys defeated professional British soldiers killing 285 British and capturing 59 while losing only 1 Boer and ending the Boer War in one stroke) and Singapore, among many many others; and the only victories they've had have been by surprise attacks (such as the battle of the River Plate), ambushes (just like they did at the battle of Jutland or Cape Matapan) or by using overwhelming numbers (like they did with the Bismark: in the first encounter two German ships, including the Bismarck, fought against three British ships which included the most powerful British ship, the HMS Prince of Wales, known as "the pride of the Royal Navy", the Bismarck alone defeated the three British ships and easily destroyed the HMS Prince of Wales, after which the British fled and only came back in overwhelming numbers, sending 12 ships against the Bismarck; this situation also happened in the naval battles of Narvik in World War II when the Royal Navy attacked the German warships off Narvik, when the Germans counterattacked the British quickly fled losing almost half of its ships, but the Royal Navy would only come back with overwhelming numbers: twice as many ships the Germans had, then and only then would they "avenge" their defeat at Narvik), that's why the British can could never fight on equal numbers, they're only brave at sea and only with overwhelming numbers on their side. That's why in Corunna they used their favorite tactic: be defeated and escape by sea (the same one used in Dunkirk). Also, they have no problem whatsoever betraying their allies if it furthers its interests such as when they bombarded Copenhagen even though Denmark was not at war with Britain (they did this to destroy the Danish fleet so Napoleon couldn't use it just in case Napoleon conquered Denmark, or when the French surrendered in World War II and the British demanded the French hand over all of their ships to them (they were terrified that that Hitler could use them to invade Britain) and when the French refused the British immediately forgot about their erstwhile "allies" and attacked the French fleet by surprise at Mers-el Kebir or when they betrayed the Portuguese (their oldest allies with whom they'd maintained an alliance treaty since 1386) by sending them an ultimatum in 1890 demanding them to evacuate some of their African colonies and once they did they quickly moved to occupy those areas just so the British could have a continuous land connection between South Africa and Egypt or during the Seven Years War: the British always seek a powerful ally with a powerful land army (as the British are too cowardly to fight like men) to protect them and fight for them and the United States didn't exist yet so they tricked Prussia into joining them and paid the Prussians to fight on the continent in their place but as soon as the British attained their goals in the other theaters of the war they immediately forgot about their Prussian "allies" and suddenly stopped the cash flow to Prussia and abandoned them just at the height of the war, leaving the Prussians to their own devices to fight alone against France, Austria and Russia, almost resulting in the destruction of Prussia, something every country in Europe took note of; or in Norway during World War II where the British arrived to assist the Norwegians against the Germans but fled after several humiliating defeats by numerically inferior German forces, in this case the British fled in secret leaving their Norwegian "allies" behind and without telling them they were going to flee. During the Napoleonic Wars, the British were at their worst, paying others to fight for them, causing the Emperor of Austria to say "The English are flesh traffickers, they fight others to fight in their place", while Napoleon said the British were "a people of cowardly marine merchants".

I picked up on something important that he said early on, when he stated, "I don't like it when faceless bureaucrats make laws for nations they don't even live in." It occurs to me that this actually applies to every nation in the world, and every citizen of every nation worldwide. Here's what I mean, every national leader, every Senator, every Congressman, every member of any lawmaking body in the world, makes decisions and laws that impacts every citizen except themselves because those lawmakers do not really live among the citizenry -- they live apart and above them. No public official ever really "lives in" the territory they rule.

I don’t think you really know what you’re talking about, the only reason Scotland is linked to England economically is because England has been using the Scottish economy to subsidise their own for centuries. Tucson Jim When is morality the same as honesty? As humans, we all lie. But morality is something you have or do not have as it comes from having a conscience. I would throw myself on the line if I could save someone else. I believe abortion is murder and there is always another option that will save both moms and babies I believe that bullying is wrong. I believe that no one should die or be ostricied because they were practicing free speech (looking at you, feminists).

Tucson Jim Not once did I say I was a princess not do I think I am, it is just a username that stuck with me since my first online account that my mom made in attempt of making a username that was easy to remember and not taken. I kept it out of sameness and routine and is irrelevant. I think of myself as a fugly, disabled piece of shit actually. I was called ugly and retarded my whole life. Now, if we lack morality, how many humans have you killed and did not feel anything afterwards? Do you find it easy to pull a gun on someone and shot them point blank? Are you apathetic towards those commercials that display abused animals? Don't lie now. I would feel intense remoarse, even if I was forced to kill. I would fall apart and cry if I even thought of shooting anything that walked and breathed. I always feel tears start when the abused animal commercials come on. I want to give all the abused animals love and comfort. I do this in the middle of PetsMart whenever I go there. I want to take them home so much. Now. Would I kill in a war? Not intentionally and if I did, I would loathe myself more than I do now if I don't commit suicide to punish myself for my own sins. I hate myself for all the mistakes I have made and I hate myself every time I hurt someone. If you knew me in real life, you would see the amount of times I say sorry and as for forgiveness from those I hurt. I cry when I just hear about others being hurt and I want to be there to help. I know I am not war material. I would crumbled apart under severe stress from my anxiety and be one of the first ones killed. I do not have the mental capacity to be a soldier. I am too emotional. Also, I know I have lied. Why? Because I know I am human. Humans lie. I know the original sin. I did not bring up religion, but I will say it, I am a practicing Christian. I have a Bible and I know what the conscience's biblical name is. The Holy Spirit. It is in the Bible. Just read the New Testament. And by your own logic you are a pathological liar. You resort to name calling. That is an ad hominem. You do not have a sound argument, so you are resorting to attacks directed towards me personally. I am sorry, but your argument just doesn't stand up well when you use ad hominems.

This whole video contained only two of the reasons why 51.89% voted leave. Only one of which being true. That being the bureaucrats in the EU. The other being saving money which is not going to happen at all as we have already seen.

There's more to this than meets the eye. This is not just about restoring our sovereignty and the right to decide our own destiny, but also our desire to preserve our own national identity. The purpose of the Treaty of Lisbon was to bring about a single European state with a single governing body. The aim was to dissolve all national governments and rid all 28 states of their individual identities in favor of a single EU government. The former states would then become 'provinces' of that state and subservient to the EU as the Federal body. This mirrors the United States in some ways - which was intentional. The individual states of the Union are all subservient to the Federal Government in Washington DC, but it is Federal State that makes laws which govern the entire country. The people of Europe are currently undergoing a degree of homogenisation. This is partially because the Freedom of Movement allows citizens of one member state to live and work in another member state. This is further complicated by the fact that there is a great deal of illegal migration from the Middle East and Africa. These migrants have brought their own customs and religion with them and expect (under EU law) to be able to retain these. The EU is attempting to force some of their member states to accept these illegal migrants to prevent any individual member from being swamped. Only many states within the EU have experience of invasions by other ethnic groups in the past and are reluctant to let their national identity be changed. This will eventually lead to more states desiring to leave the EU. The United Kingdom wanted to retain our own sovereignty, to set our own laws and have our own accountable Government. The EU would have forced Britain to dissolve our own Parliament, dismissed our Monarch and forced us to accept EU laws written by faceless bureaucrats with no accountability at the point of the guns of the EU Army. We have chosen to exert our right to be free to chose our own destiny and not to be forced to accept what others demand of us. We saved Europe from tyranny three times in two centuries and our example may allow others to free themselves from the cruelty of despotic masters.

To Wot above: As an American I agree with your assessment. Our republic ceased to be free when the US set up the Federal Reserve bank, which is not Federal, and not American. It buys and prints our money and sells it back to us at interest. And with creation of the FBI, CIA, NSA and other multi-agencies, our politicians have little say over our faceless bureaucrats and hence the Trump election: the one who is fighting it and showing also the link with the media. It is the first time that I have been hopeful in 4 decades. Up until than it was usually choosing the lesser of two evils, or: do I want Syphillus or Gonohrea? Actually I don't want either until our last Presidential election.

Many outside America did not comprehend that President Trump won the election, not just because he was not Hillary, but because he offered a way to fight back against the oppression of the Deep State. As you say, the Federal Bank is neither Federal or American, but owned by Globalists and that's not the only Institution that has been 'Infected' (for want of a better word) by the Deep State. The Russian Collusion scandal was the Deep State's attempt to rid themselves of a President that was a threat to them. The very fact that the Impeachment was by a whistleblower - also a Deep State operative - shows that they've not given up on their attempts to wrest back control. The parallel with the United Kingdom and Brexit is that the EU financed many political groups in the UK to attempt to stage a Coup and reverse the Brexit decision. They did this through Parliament and the Courts and nearly succeeded, but now they've been foiled and it will backfire on them. My only hope is that America re-elects the President to finish the job he started. America is booming. Americans are getting rich again. The list of Presidential candidates and their rhetoric is extremely disappointing. Let's hope that the Deep State are purged from the US by a President who recognises that America was being controlled by people who did not have America's interests at heart.

@@WOTArtyNoobs Yes, yes, yes. I had a list of the Globalists. Trump was the only one not on it. This next election will determine the fate of America and of the world. If Trump loses it is Game over. The people naively think that they can start a civil war and replay the American revolution. What they don't realize is that UN troops will be called in (Cubans, Turks, Chinese, Somalians, etc) to brutally put down any insurrection because US troops will not fire on their own people and that is the many reason why the US and British troops have been involved in endless wars abroad... to keep them out of the picture.

Your logic contradicts itself countless times. To that rose-coloured perception of Great-Britain as the liberator of Europe, you might want to add the fact that Great-Britain was one of the worst despots of all. Just ask India, South-Africa, the Caribbean, Pakistan, Kenya, etc. But the fact that you left out that massive part of history and only claimed the "good bit" says a lot about why you are so ignorant about the racist discrepancies in your "nationalist" discourse.

actually he lied, he said all 28 countries need to ratify all treaties in the eu to make any reform, the truth is that the European union treaty that created the organization in the first place is the only treaty they have to ratify, thats the whole point of the union, to create a more streamlined reform process
@gdreyer
@gdreyer 4 жыл бұрын
@@InitialPC Actually no he didn't, "ANY REFORM to the legal basis of the EU must be ratified according to the procedures in each member state. ALL STATES ARE REQUIRED TO RATIFY it and lodge the instruments of ratification with the Government of Italy before the treaty can come into force in any respect. In some states, such as Ireland, this is usually a referendum as any change to that state's constitution requires one. In others, such as Belgium, referendums are constitutionally banned and the ratification must take place in its national parliament." SOURCE: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaties_of_the_European_Union

@@campkira Just FYI, if your trying to tell people Prager is not reliable because they are right wing I have a few bits of advice for you. First of all, just because something might lean one way or another they will not always side with each other. I would agree most places that lean one way do tend to only think that way, but even then I have seen them talk back vs people of their own party on rare occasions. And second, you should not say "Just take the info and don't think too much of it." because that does the opposite of what you intend. If you think people are being brainwash into believing something you believe is dumb, that is exactly what someone doing the brainwashing would say. If you want people to open their eyes you would say look into it more.

Travro , imagine an AN. American Union, aggregating not only Mexico and Canada, but all the american countries. As if the US didn't have big enough political and economic influence on these countries, imagine them having to follow laws created by your country. That's a good way to turn on some good profit. The UK saw through that.

It's not another country making laws for another country. Its 28 representatives from each country who vote on new laws and other shit that have to be effected. For example electrical appliances which was to meet certain criteria, so you know, anything you buy that's in the eu/made for the eu market has been regulated and tested to be safe.

I voted to leave because the idea of be governed by appointed officials and not elected officials sends a chill down my spine. However, people try and say that the EU government is merely a guiding hand for your countries government, and while this was once true, the EU has become something far more sinister in recent times. I believe the goal of certain EU bureaucrats is to make Europe a unified country, one governed by the European parliament. And when I say the EU, I really mean Germany disguised as the EU. Germany has tried to conquer Europe twice and failed both times, but now Germany is conquering Europe through political means using the Union as a stepping stone. We all know Germany holds supreme power in the EU, unmatched by even Britain itself despite Britain having the strongest military in the EU and having the 2nd strongest economy, and the only reason for us being 2nd in economy is because Germany (disguised as the EU) keep demanding more money from us in the form of ridiculous taxes and the EU membership fee. The EU is trying to unite all European countries into one with the Eurozone, an EU army despite most EU countries besides, Spain, France, Britain, Germany, Italy and maybe Poland, are just holes in the ground that can barely function properly. An EU army looks good on paper but it would function horribly because different country's have different standards for their military. Countries such as... Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Albania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Croatia are countries that have nothing to give, but everything to take. All these EU countries have nothing in common either! We have different currencies, speak different languages, have different cultures and overall a different way of life. I'll be honest, the EU was a good thing back when it was about benefiting neighbouring countries with great and fair trade deals, but now... it's just a corrupt union full of appointed bureau-twats that wanna line their pockets with the money of hardworking people. The EU should disband because it won't be long until another Euro crisis happens or another country is in 350 billion dollars worth of debt that we have to help bail out at Germany's request. Brexit was very much necessary, I just wish our government was better prepared for this fight, as right now... things are not looking good for us.

Serbia and Albania aren't members yet. They're just official candidates like Turkey is. Their GDP-per-capitas are less than half of Turkey's and their standards of living are worse than Turkey's. I was gonna say "Serbia, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro aren't likely to become members before 2030" then I remembered that Bulgaria, despite still being poorer and less developed than Turkey is, has been a member since 2007 lol.

Tucson Jim: Considering the "strength" of the European national identities, religious beliefs, and cultural and historical backgrounds, the concept of "European Unity," carried to the extreme, where the European central government dominates all members, is NOT a practical idea! "United Europe" is NOT like "The United States," where people established a NEW home, far away from their original homelands, with NEW perspectives and NEW national identity. Europeans in their homelands will accept forgoing certain national sovereignty, but there is a LIMIT as to how far they will go. Expecting European nations to accept a large number of unvetted Islamic migrants who are hostile towards non-believers, for example, is beyond what many Europeans are willing to tolerate --- and rightfully so! Anyone who has a brain - except for those who live in the lalaland - can see that such practice will bound to fail! Brexit is just the beginning! If EU fails, it's not because "European Unity" is a bad idea, it is because those who apply the concept don't know WHEN to stop and don't get it, enough is enough!
