I am 46 this year and have grown up with radio legends who called our sports. Max McGee, Jim Irwin and Bob Scott are as great of broadcasters as have ever been and none of them held a candle to Bob Uecker. Bob Uecker being gone is a lifetime of calls and jokes that landed harder than Prince Fielder falling off the upper decks. Bob was not only a legend in media he was the greatest one across all sports and someone who belonged to our Brewers despite all the other fame that came with those jobs. Bob would have been able to work in Hollywood for his entire life had he chosen that path. HE was popular enough to be a fulltime movie star but Bob did not do that! Bob would never leave WI baseball while he was alive. He was where he was meant to be and lead us through some of the worst baseball seasons imaginable. No matter how bad our Crew was that season at least we had Bob making it entertaining to listen to. We lost something special this time around ! We all are lesser people after today.

I've never met the man, but I feel like I've known him my whole life. He was the soundtrack to my summers. I remember being a kid, riding my bike around with the other kids on the block, coming back to brats on the grill, grabbing an orange soda and hearing the Ueck on the radio announcing Brewers games. In the last couple years, whenever he would do playcalling for games and someone hit a home run, I would listen in closely and re-listen to them as if I just heard an official announcement to the end of a war. I knew there wasn't going to be that many games left in him. He was the best. The sport won't be the same without him.

BA did a great job keeping it together for this interview until the end. And hes absolutely right. Bob Uecker for brewers fans is different than what everyone else got to see. An absolutely special man behind the microphone. I grew up listening to Ueck during those awful early 2000s brewers but he was a must listen every night. He was almost like listening to a game with a friend with the stories and how genuine he was during the broadcasts. There will never be another one like him. Rest in Peace, Mr. Baseball

My wife and I live near Chicago and for over the last 20 years we have adopted the Brewers as one of our favorite teams to root for every summer. The city, the fans, the atmosphere are top notch - Bob Uecker announcing the games was the cherry on top of the sundae. His humor and kind demeanor was comforting to say the least. One memory I still laugh about was when I was listening to the Cubs play the Brew Crew up in Milwaukee. Ritchie Sexson was coming to bat against Kerry Wood. Bob said the following “Here comes Ritchie. Wood had Tommy John surgery that caused him to miss last season and there is concern it might have taken some velocity off his fastball. The pitch. Strike one on the inside corner. 98 miles per hour. Yeah, I can really tell it affected him.” 😂😂. Priceless - I’ll miss you Sir. Rest in Peace.

Wisconsin summers will never be the same. Uek captured the rhythm of the game so perfectly. Called the game straight, never more details than necessary, could mix in a story perfectly in a half inning without stepping on the play by play, called the game in the context of the entire season. And damn did he love baseball, and did Wisconsin love him.

Winter was leaving, well not always the case in Milwaukee, but it was time for Baseball and that was SPECIAL! INCREDIBLY SPECIAL! Hearing him call Robin Yount's, Gorman Thomas', or Ben Oglive's home runs gave me CHILLS! "Get up get up GET OUT OF HERE, GONE! A HOME RUN!" Ueck may have been a little slow to warm up professionally with BA, but I have a picture on my phone from a Fan Fest years ago of Bob and a young boy that reminds me how nice he was with kids. There are tables set up where players and staff sit and autograph for people. Most of the guys are quick, a smile and maybe a parent snaps a picture. Bob Uecker would have a real conversation where he was talking and listening with those kids. There is a line waiting, so it has to keep moving, but that boy left feeling like he and Bob had made a real connection. That’s the Bob Uecker I like to remember.

I am wildly happy Bob got to see Jackson Chourio come up. Bob at least got to see the Rookie season of the greatest Brewer. See you when it is my time to go Bob. We will all have to get into Heaven now just so we get to listen to Bob's call on the World Series that the Brewers finally win it all . That was a missed opportunity and no one deserved a Championship more than Uecker. WE all said it at least once. The Brewers will probably win the World Series the year Bob dies. That is a joke Bob Uecker would think was hilarious! WE will never listen to baseball the same way after this and the Brewers just lost the one thing that made them more special than the entire MLB so now they must win to cover for the lack of Bob in the booth making this team great.
