This became my favorite skating performance of all time way back when Brian first performed it. Now after seeing it again, I am reminded why! With all the great new skaters who have come and gone since Brian, he is still my favorite skater and this is my favorite performance!

My husband watched this and was every bit as awestruck as I....this is by far and away the most incredible interpretation of music ever...and it gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it...Brian Boitano is the best skater ever...male or female...this is a performance that will never be replicated...it can't.

When my sister and I saw him do this in Philly right after his amateur career, tears were streaming down both our faces afterward. It was just soooooo beautiful!!! (Nobody leans back on the spread eagle like Brian!)
@Samuelliu35154 жыл бұрын
freddisam you are right! I think because Brian has good balance, his coach said that he even can adjust the position in the air👍

I agree with you on the spread eagles. He is the only one I can remember who has the best posture doing the spread eagle, he doesn't stick his bum out like other skaters do, which makes his so impressive!

Beautiful, classic skating at its best. These days, it's rare to find an ice skater who takes my breath away. I can't get enough of watching Brian Boitano.

This program is also my favorite of all of Brian's programs. I've seen him skate three times on the Tour and he was fabulos.

I have yet to see any skater skate to “Music of the Night” better than Brian Boitano. I saw him skate this live in 1989 during the Tour of World Figure Skating Champions. Just like here, when the first notes of the song played, the audience applauded. We all knew we were about to see something special.

Just goes to show that doing 3 quads jammed in one performance is not necessary to win a perfect score of 10. This performance showed that once upon a time emotion and grace were enough and no one did it better than Brian Boitano. This is my favorite performance by Brian and it is timeless.

Linda Leaver said she wanted Brian to be a gold medal athlete and a gold medal person. He achieved both, thanks to his well known work ethic, the help of his coach, Linda, and his choreographer, Sandra Bezic. And just being the good person he is. He does not gloat in his perfectly skated program but accepts it with uncommon modesty and grace.

Pure Excellence on Ice!! No other skater has ever brought to the sport what he did IMO in both Amateur and Pro!

This is just brilliant. Brian was not the most naturally artistic skater. He didn't have Scott Hamilton's quick feet and personality or Robin Cousin's liquid finesse or Paul Wylie's intense musicality and lines. What Brian had was just unmatched high quality elements and confidence choreographed perfectly to hit the highs and lows of the music. This program showed that off better than ever. The speed and height into the death drop, the effortless fast smooth triples, the knee slide into combo spin, each perfect with the music. The final risky spreadeagle is simply regal skating perfection, so difficult yet seemless, the arms brilliantly placed and evoking the end of the Phantom musical when the girl finds the mask and raises it up. Phenomenal skate.

What is it about Michael Crawford's songs that seem to propel figure skaters to reach perfect scores?! LOL! I mean, first I saw Torvil and Dean's routine to a song from Michael Crawford's "Barnum" show {which earned Perfect Scores}. Now, there's also Brian Boitano and Michael Crawford's "Music Of The Night". What is it about Michael Crawford that seems to gain top scores whenever his music/performances are used???!!! Astonishing; that's pretty much all I can say {for now}. Take care.

To this day no other skater can do the Boitano spin jump (has on hand up in the air. It throws the center of balance way off and the skater has to instantly compensate for it. Nor can any of them do the shocking spread eagles that defy gravity and go on for s long duration. Too bad other men got the gold once the Soviets started their dirty trade for favors. They should have been suspended for life. God bless Brain he never took it out on the actual skaters...he'd be the first one out there to smile and hug the person who was the benefactor of the cheating...Like Orser and Petrinko.

all he needs is an average of 9,8?? :D isn't that an awful lot?

To bad his shirt wasn’t fitted better to his torso. This loose fit isn’t complimenting.
@valkyriesardo278 Жыл бұрын
Disagree. Though the shirt did not showcase Brian's body, it was the perfect choice for the theme of this performance. The costume was very romantic and manly with the classic simplicity of black and white, clean line on the legs, billowing and flowing white in the loose shirt. The fabric was so fluid that it enhanced rather than obscured his movements.
@AFSVS27 Жыл бұрын
I agree. Although it could had been tailored better.
