I use my professional sound equipment to record the tracks, and then mime along to the track in more interesting surroundings. It's pretty much standard practice nowadays. Otherwise - you'd see me with cans on, playing into a condenser mic and a sound shield. (like in my Lion King arrangement - not so interesting to look at)

@@garethmclearnonflute Why would a serious player be expected to mime to "look" good? I would expect that from half clad girls looking for attention or people who do not know how to play. When singers get caught lip syncing people don't like that either. Everybody knows the mimers are sub par. Why try to copy them when the beauty and artistry of the musicians individual interpretation and phrasing is what draws people to click on the auditory arts, not pretty visual backdrops or props? Just because bad players need to resort to antics to get clicks doesn't mean you have to unless you are a bad player and can't entice them on your own. The music should be it's own draw and is depreciated with miming. From what I heard you don't need to fall victim to fads of wanna be famous people you already have enough prestige that you should be making the social norm rules yourself, you have the musical talent- you should be the trend setter- not following those from the dull masses. Please do not feel the need to go along with the trends of social media. The Lion King video was authentic and fantastic. Mime if you want to, but it loses the purist viewers who would be the main fans to begin with.

Honestly? It was a nice day outside, and I'd just mowed my lawn. It was also mid-pandemic and I was bored and desperately lonely, and the challenge of making a video outside in the garden intrigued me, and took up a day mid-lockdown.

(Though in all honestly, an equally valid reason would be "because I felt like it".)
