At the beginning of the 80s Brian De Palma was preparing Prince of the City with writer David Rabe, to star John Travolta in the main role. At the same time Sidney Lumet & Oliver Stone were working on the script for Scarface, a new take on the old story. As fate would have it, these to filmakers swaped seats in directors chairs...Sidney Lumet directed Prince of the City with Treat Williams and De Palma made Scarface with Al Pacino...

You can hear the disdain for hip hop in de Palma’s voice which is a shame because it’s that audience that made the film into a classic. No one was looking for Scarface until young black kids and rappers popularized the film. Brain should be thanking them for the love.

@@jayrobinson4591 you’re right in some ways. During the 90’s the movie was only replayed on different channels. Nothing was connected to Scarface at the time like how it is now. Music videos, rap songs, society, social media etc. Remember Bryan is from a different era. That’s why he used ‘push it to the limit’ in the movie. I like Rick Ross version too.

@@jayrobinson4591No, they glamourized it. Rap sucks anyway.

@@gamleskalle1 how does someone glamorize a movie? you sound like an idiot. Again, the hip hop culture embraced it and made it into a cult classic . numbers don't lie. the film didnt do shit in theaters and was panned by critics. The urban market made it popular whether you like rap or not. nobody cares if you think it sucks or not. i'm sure plenty of people think YOU suck

How good was Pacino ? I think other than that scene with the chainsaw. Its the only instance visually where you see Michael Corleone ever again.
