Most likely his "really rich" friends were all mortgaged to the hilt. They weren't actually rich - they just owned a lot of rich-looking stuff. And they didn't even own it - the bank did.

I don't buy 80% of these types of stories - the old "I was parking cars one day for min wage at Warner Bros when I made a joke to a guy as I parked his car, and it turned out he was the CEO of Warner Bros, and he told me to come up to his office, and before I knew it was a Vice President." Basically they never disclose any connections they have and minimize their advantages....making out that it's pure luck." Not saying he was rich, but his dad was an attorney so its not like he wasn't middle class (back when being an attorney meant a comfortable middle class lifestyle, which is not the case now). School was also very very cheap back then and no student loans. CA public colleges were free until the mid 1970's. It's a different word now. I don't care how frugal you are now, you are not buying a luxury car with money you saved from parking cars or working as a barista at Starbucks.

@@Alexius1Komnenos It was more possible then, true, but he had help. No one starting out from poverty even then could have accomplished this. He had the right look, gender, etc. he learned enough from his upbringing enough how to act in these situations at the very least. (His father being an attorney.) He's another home run hitter starting from third base. He still had to score, but it's an awesome starting base.

Was he a law clerk before going to law school (if he ever went) or he worked a law clerk position while in law school? So many opportunities and loop holes for him that he saw and had. Still don’t know how he qualified for a Porsche as a student and not rich, down payment or no down payment. Or even afforded USC? College in 1980s was still expensive even if you went to a state school. And USC is elite and private. I just read he had a scholarship to college. And his father was a criminal lawyer so he wasn’t exactly raised poor. Usually kids of educated parents wind up going to college. Kids whose parents don’t have college degrees, it’s more of a struggle. People always want to act poor, rags to riches like Meghan Markle claims. He did work hard but sounds like he was lucky enough to have opportunities a lot of kids don’t have.

@@EBUNNY2012 he has a point, though. the guy is way too old to be wearing skate shoes and capris with a baggy pull over sweater.
