This song was actually released as recording the same month of freddies death in November. 18 days before his death I believe. I see comments criticising brians singing or shaky behaviour though a lot was going on and messing with his head. I can’t blame him.

Freddie was really "angry" on Brian that the song was not released in the summer 1991. He was told that Brian does not want to release the song because of Freddie's health, then as far I remember of what I read around 30 yrs ago, Freddie called him around October to ask him "what he is waiting for? Just release it ASAP!". I guess it's an unfortunate coincidence that the song came out 2 days after Freddie's death because obviously you can't get a single out in a day or two after a decision to do it. And Freddie was relatively well in September and October. But during his stay in Montreux at the beginning of November 1991, he decided to stop the medications himself, and his condition worsened literally within days. It must have been excruciating, too, the pain and the realization that he wasn't the Freddie people wanted to see, the hiding of AIDS, the yellow press chasing him, etc. But he was adamant about Brian releasing the song and he liked it a lot.

Brians head at this point was a mess. I believe during this period he was contemplating suicide as the demise of Freddie and Queen as a band really effected him badly. Look at Brian on the 86 magic tour and then compare his stage persona from 91 onwards.

I see nothing difficult here in terms of guitar playing. I've seen much harder folk or blues or jazz chords and played much harder and faster banjo rolls. Even May looks happy behind a guitar for once - maybe just thinking about the money? Steve Vai looking more interested in chewing his gum than thinking about playing a guitar says MORE about this song than anything written on MePipe.

Roger and Cozy have different strengths. At this point in Bri’s music career, Cozy fit Bri’s style better. If Rog was better at this style, I’m sure he would’ve been there, Bri just made a judgement call on this one. But it would’ve been amazing if Rog joined The Brian May Band on stage, as Bri did that with The Cross

Freddie was gravely ill at this point I believe or he Might’ve did it with the band. Too add onto that stuff complications with his marriage and his dad. A pot of shit was going on and it messed with his head. Brian is a great singer even in this performance. Check out his earlier wembly 86 performances and stuff and you’d truly see brian in one of his peaks maybe his highest peak. No matter what Brian is always a huge inspiration to me and many others for singing and guitar as well as his work in astrophysics and much more. We love brian.

The electrocuted poodle looks and sounds as good as ever - this MAY (pun) even be his best stint. My ears are glad since he is no longer making 'music'. Steve Vai, half asleep and gum-chewing at the back is one of the good parts of this so called songs ... Cozy and Rick are epic as always. Cash grabs have sounded better.
