Brian May, really exhausted, walks out during the interview, apparently something is gone wrong... I can't really say what (don't know dutch), just listen and make your own opinion (and maybe translate it!)

Brian lost it with a reporter in Australia last year when he asked the guy to stop filming him and he didn't. He apologized to his fans for getting angry. I don't think he likes being nasty because it's probably not in his nature to be like that and to come across as an asshole when he isn't. He's a really nice guy.
@SpaceCattttt

@@jaggass I'm the same way. Getting angry takes a lot of effort when it doesn't come naturally to you, and you also feel somewhat ashamed that you weren't "good enough" to avoid having to raise your voice. Even when you haven't done anything and you're being provoked! I can only imagine how much more stressful this must be when you're famous and everything you do is scrutinized by the public. Then you have your fans as well as yourself to consider, so it must be exhausting.

However the interviewer continued to do what Brian had already asked him not to try to disect Bohemian Rhapsody. That was not what he was there for. He just had had enough really. Considering Queen went out of their way, over and over again, year after year to point out the operatic section of Bohemian Rhapsody was entirely a studio creation which couldn't be performed live and just walked off stage while a tape played it was a stupid question. They never tried to fake it and always admitted it. Some songs like Somebody To Love they were able to create magnificent live versions which are legendary but with BH they could only do part 1 and part 3. They were always honest about it and the interviewer was a dick.
@eeza
@eeza 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! They'd rather stay true to what they have created and the operatic section was created ONLY by the four of them, multi-tracked, so yes for QUEEN, it was impossible to play live but Brian never said others, with more members or even computer help, couldn't recreate it live. However with simply just the 4 of them on stage, it is impossible to "multi-track live". Anyway, for someone pissed off and exhausted, Brian simply handled the situation professionally and very nicely. It isn't even much of a walk-out as just exhibiting tiredness! He even apologized and sat back down!

I will try to translate it for you guys. This show is from a newsprogram in holland, called Eenvandaag. 0:00 "Ten minutes, that should have been enough to show him this clip and to tell us what Bohemian Rhapsody is about. (like in a lyrical way, the meaning of the song). From him we wanted to know and also what he thinks about the quality of the students of the popacademy. This was his reaction. 0:18 Brian may walks in tired (of the show) and isn't really in the mood. (Brian talks) 0:28 We wanted to know why the full part of Bohemian Rhapsody is so hard to play live. 0:57 So with enough musicians the band should be able to play the full part live (pretty moronic conclusion if you ask me, but ok) We wanted to know what he thinks of the efforts of the students but the tape has a little technical difficulty. 1:38 Though eventually Brian May does sit down. But if we ask a question about Bohemian Rhapsody and not about the tour, he decides to leave. 1:57 Unfortunately, sometimes it goes uphill (no clue really what he means) What I can tell is the complete interview was 3 minutes and 10 seconds and if you want to see it longer you can get tickets for the Geldredome (dutch stadium) on the 10th of july, tickets are still availble.

The interviewer had probably put a lot of work into that videotape he wanted to play to Brian. It contained recordings of conservatory students who performed (arrangements of) Queen music, most likely of them doing live vocals to 'Bohemian Rhapsody' (hence the question). I can understand the interviewer's curiosity to Brian's comments on that, and he probably knew that these conservatory students were anxious to hear Brian's response too. (I suspect the next question would be: "You just said that it is impossible to perform BR live, but look here at our students doing that".) So here is where the interview went wrong: the interviewer forgot that what may have been totally interesting to *him*, may not be so interesting for *Brian*. The fact that *the interviewer* put a lot of effort in that tape, did not guarantee that *Brian* was prepared to make an unusual effort too. The interviewer 'forgot' to connect with his interviewee. That is the amateurish nature of this interview. It is like some schoolboy wanting to show off his guitar skills to Brian, hoping for a pat on the head. Even if that schoolboy has worked very hard on his 'Smoke on the water' performance, it is unlikely that the best guitarists on this planet will sit it out. Specially if they are bloody tired. I agree with the many who compliment Brian May for showing his irritation and walking out in the politest of ways.

+mickthenick1 I think that apart from that there's one thing more. When an artist is on tour and he goes to interviews he's supposed to be asked about the tour itself, not stupid questions. But some journalists take advantage of the situation and try to make their own show. I've seen a local band doing the Rhapsody's opera part on stage here in Spain and yes, it's possible, but I would never bother Brian about that. Brian made wonderful things in his career, if he doesn't want to play it live, it's his choice and no further questions.

Brian is an absolute gent, he even says hes feeling tired which he never does, and for the interviewer to bang on about somethng which has no relevance to the reason the interview is taking place is just pointless good on ya Brian

He was incredibly polite, he agreed to do it even though he was exhausted and then he even warned them about 3 times to ask about the show and not random old questions and they just kept doing it.. it's ENTIRELY the interviewer's fault and only the interviewer was being an arse here.

God, what a gentleman! I don't speak Dutch, don't know what was being asked, but I've never seen anyone say "No, I'm done with you" in such a polite way. I would not have been half so gentle if someone had pissed me off. My hat is off to his people skills and his class.

the interviewer kept going on about bohemian rhapsody and Brian May had already answered him politely but the interviewer wanted to keep going on about that brilliant song which is why Brian walked off as he was not there to talk about that one song Brian was there to promote their new album which the interviewer was asking Brian to compare it to Bohemian Rhapsody....dont mind him Brian we have your back my friend xxxx

I agree.Brian May is a gentleman,he was over tired and he could have declined the interview.When he did do it, he didn't want to talk about Bohemian Rhrapsody,and watch vidios of B.R.Brian wanted to talk about the WWRY show. Most people would have just got up and walked,and maybe called the guy an idiot,but Brian showed grace under pressure.Brian is a true talent.

@octomonkey1980 I have had the honor as well, when he was on his book tour for "A Village Lost and Found". I am a shy person, and he could have just signed my book and not even looked at me. But instead, he struck up conversation several times with me saying "it's a shame we don't have more time to talk at these things" and "How did you become interested in stereographics?". I was petrified, because he is a man a really look up to. And now, I always will. He is a great man.

Having just dealt with a troll on a previously viewed KZbin video I can understand frustration especially if you have tried to be polite and gotten nowhere. Doesn't help if the other person tries to turn it around and make it look like you were the one at fault. Thank goddess for blocking. Gracious as ever Brian.

Anyone who's ever met Brian May will tell you he is the most polite and humble rock star you will ever meet (don't mean to brag but I have had the honour!) he has alot of time for people/fans and takes alot to make him angry. This moron of a interviewer pissed him off TWICE in a matter of minutes!! Interviewer: FAIL BM: Legend, Genius....and a true Gent He even shook the guys hand before walking out!!

Man is one of the smartest guitar players out there! He is also an astrophysicist with a PhD so there you do DR. MAY!! :) Knew a person who got to meet him once and by my friends own admission he went on like an idiot fan and Brian just laughed at the right moments and treated him with the utmost respect like what my friend said made sense. Be so easy not to be nice after all the years in the industry he has put in but what a gentleman!

Are you nuts? Do you even know who Brian May is? Because if you did you would never say that. Brian May is a good person. He's VERY kind and look, he's still respectful even when he walks out. He was very tired, as he said in the beginning, and he wanted to talk about the upcoming WWRY show. He didn't want to watch video clips from previous concerts or music videos that he's seen a million times. Really though, you should see what he's really like when he's well rested, he's a great guy.

Oh Brian you were so dignified. The problem is, you've already given so much of yourself, and continue to do so, people forget you're still human and deserve kindness and respect. Because you're on a public platform, they think they own you. Bless you. X

I am Dutch myself, but I must agree with Brian, he was supposed to talk about the tour and that interviewer kept coming back to bohemian rhapsody... Great class the way he walked out, a proper english gentleman a handshake and an apology (not needed from my point of view). And yes, you could see he was very, very tired. Way to go Brian
