Brian O'Driscoll pays tribute to the departing Sean O'Brien

Former Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll described the departing Sean O'Brien as "someone to go to war with" as the flanker heads over to London Irish next season.

I’m an Englishman, but Sean is my favourite player without doubt. Such power and a kind of tamed ferocity that makes him so compelling to watch. Watching the Lions tour in 2017 I felt like those All Blacks really did have something to fear, and they knew it too.

I had a chat a while back with big Simon Shaw and asked him who was the toughest Irish player he played against. His answer was Victor Costello which backs up what Brian said. Seanie will be missed, after Warburton and now Pocock too it shows the what an attritional position 7 is....

Sean has just been ruled out of the World Cup now to cap the whole thing off. So that's Leavy and O'Brien out of the tournament with Van Der Flier expected to be our first choice 7. Only problem is he's also extremely injury prone. We're already looking at a disastrous campaign injury-wise and we haven't even entered the world cup warm-up campaign against the home nations, which will be attritional as hell...Dear Lord. My bet is Van Der flier will injure himself in the warm ups....which leaves who to fill the 7 position?
