I like seeing the drawings. It gives a good representation for those of us that aren't onsite and shows what it could look like when the foliage is fully grown in.

You’re absolutely right about the drawings not usually helping, but it depends on the customer. If they’re into plants like it sounds, a drawing might help. She should prune it back some, top dress some old manure on the top and water in the lilac. Keep the shoots and roots in balance.

Thanks for always sharing your knowledge! Maybe a goal for aquascape could be to use/ modify a CAD program that could be sold to CACs. I have seen programs where you can easily turn a plan into a 3D model ... if you had pre-programmed objects like you urns, trees of various sizes as well as rocks of various sizes... it might be easier for clients to visualize a 3D model than a plan. What you do in their yard with your hoses and cans of paint is to help them visualize in 3D so this might allow you to design faster and pinpoint what client wants and if you have to present to a board it is clearer. Just a thought! Merry 2022 to the whole gang... I cannot wait to see what you will come up with next .

The value of the drawing, to me, was that as you were narrating you revealed your thought process: Stay out of the easement; the lilac will drape over the pond; this curve will mirror the curve of the patio; this rectangle will determine how big the liner needs to be; these plantings will create a 'room' for the waterfalls, which will make them seem larger; we'll need to get access through the fence; we need three feet for the berm; we'll need to push the water out of this dead zone . . . very educational.

Hi Brian, I really enjoy the videos...Your drawings look great. I would recommend placing your drawings in a 3 ring binder along with some photos [of previous projects] depicting each of the building process steps [tailored to their specific project]... this will help your client to see and realize exactly what''s involved to complete their project along with some photos of finished projects similar in scope to theirs...[please forgive me if you already do this].

I prefer drawings as I think it lays the basis for the pond process but also allows the homeowner (me) to better see how the remaining yard space can be developed around the pond. If I wanted to add future plantings, pathways or structures, it gives me a helpful visual. I think drawings would be helpful to those of is who want to do the pond/pondless construction ourselves but would like the professional help with pond shape/placement. I would be willing to pay for a drawing like that. An Aquascape pond/ pondless kit may be the only option for some budgets so a consultative drawing could be very constructive. Thanks for all your helpful videos!

I really appreciate the design process and planning videos. I find drawings help everyone stay on the same page when multiple contractors are involved.

Keep doing the drawings. I like how you described the process as you are drawing, I learned a lot from hearing your thought process as the video progressed.

I'd like to see more videos with the drawings. It would also be awesome to see the drawings next to the finished product.

I think drawings and spray paint work hand in hand. Drawings for the look and spray paint for the scale of the project. Great job. Happy New Years.

Brian: I especially like the drawing of the walkway in front of our house...LOL Several weeks ago my wife and I painted that plan on the grass. May 2023 can't come soon enough. The backyard will definitely be rope/hose/paint and your creative talent. With almost 17 months to wait, the boulders and the pond keep getting bigger. Thanks so much for the videos. Happy New Year!!

Interesting how you layout the project on paper. Unfortunately it seems 99% of people can't imagine what there yard will look like even on paper. But in the end it always come out beautifully.

Personally, I find the drawings helpful depending on the customer. I enjoyed this video and I gave it the #115th big 👍 up. I think perhaps a few more videos like this would be good at least until you can resume work on the pond that you have currently put on hold due to the winter. Sorry Greg! Thankyou very much for sharing. 👍😊❤️

Come on Brian where is the virtual rendering? Jk but I do like the drawing showing how plantings frame the bio falls and berm. It may do more on the back side to help customers envision and complete the water feature with plantings and make your work 100%. What’s Greg call that the cherry on top or icing on the cake? Keep up the great work!

I am going to take a garden hose to my HOA ARC meeting and try to lay my pond out one the ground with a hose and see if it get approved lol. I have tried to draw up my plan so many times and it is so hard to do. I wish I knew how to draw up a cool plan.

Maybe more technical drawing would be much more helpful. Schematic renderings help sell the project but construction docs get it built. Elevations with section details, dimensions, legend with lighting specs, total gallons, liner dimensions

I agree...hose and paint is way better because you create forms and shapes in space for the eyes to see. You will never get the visual depth from paper. The paper is pretty to look at but it will never be exactly like what is drawn...ever. God bless

I'd prefer seeing the paint on the ground with a rough sketch. Nothing precise.
