I was blessed to be there in person. My wife and I (the annoying couple who periodically send each other super chat messages when Loz and Liz go live) went for our 5 year anniversary. Brian was exactly who we hoped he would be when we met him, even though he was exhausted. The crowd was incredibly hyped. I’ve never felt emotion from thousands of people like I did during his last leg press, chess press, and power stairs. We would have followed him into battle.

Novikov wanted to entertain, and coming out to pull that second attempt at 499kg definitely did that, especially knowing it wasn't going to affect the points. He's coming back from injury, training in a war-torn country and I feel like he clearly knew he wasn't at his best, so you've gotta' give the show in whatever way you can. I appreciate him digging deep and pulling again.

Wow. Just WOW! We shouldn't have counted Brian out. I thought he'd come top 4 or 5, but to come away with the win was nothing short of phenomenal. Absolutely amazing performance. The old lion roared once more and put the young pretenders in their place. One of the best strongman shows ever, and a fitting end for one of the very best to ever compete.

The standing bench was awesome. They couldn't use a normal bench, that isn't really strongman, they had to make it a spectacle and they certainly did they. It was an interesting piece of engineering as well. Will be interesting to see how the athletes adapt and improve. Also, Oleksii's extra hummer tire lift was just for pure entertainment. It was just something fun. I think Oleksii knew he wasn't going to win the comp so it was just for fun for the crowd and to perhaps test himself a little post surgery.

Kinda pisses me off that I’ve seen people saying the athletes gave this to Brian knowing full well that they’re all hyper competitive and Brian wouldn’t take a gimme off anyone, especially in his last showing. Man gave all he had in this showing and like Loz said, after the hummer tire deadlift you could tell he was locked in. Edit: seeing JF Caron running through all the barrels on the chest press during Brian’s video had me laughing. Man is still an absolute brute. Yes I saw the little push a dude gave at the end but I doubt it helped much if any 😂

After this show and Big B’s retirement, I will be pulling for everyone who competes. I love the underdogs like Maximme, Kevin F. Mark Evans proved he is a force to reckon with. But Mitch is a class act after seeing what he did on there last event by cheering Brian on to finish the last event while leaving his 600lb block on the third step. He gave Brian the stage and is a total sportsman at the highest level. All the guys gave Brian mad respect in the end and Luke kissing B’s forehead was very emotional.

What else can you say about Brian Shaw? He’s made a very gracious transition from competitor to host of the Shaw classic! Just look who shows up for it when invited, if they are not injured. The best of the best show up because they know that The Shaw Classic is quickly becoming a strong man favorite! And he treats the competitors better than any other competition out there, and you can hear that straight from the competitors mouths! Brian Shaw is a Class Act!

This contest had a bit of a nostalgic feel. Reminded me of some of the early competitions with the funky machines. Even the early Arnold’s had some weird (and terrible) ones, such as the hammer of strength. I enjoy seeing these brutally hard, heavy contests. Even the moving events were brutally heavy and didn’t favor fitness over brute strength.

What an amazing ending to an amazing strongman's career! To be performing at that level at the age of 41 and then win the whole thing is just a testament to the class of Brian. Nobody can dispute how heavy the Shaw Classic was this year. We had a killer lineup and Brian ended on top. I was glued to the screen and criee my eyes out at the end. I've been a massive supporter of Brian throughout his whole career and to have such a perfect ending is just what he deserves. For me he is the GOAT! Well done to Mitch Hooper. He's such a great athlete and will be around for years to come! Massive comeback from Tom! Great performances throughout! Maxime and Faires were pleasant surprises as well!

To the people saying that, I would ask, "what aspect of strength/being a strength athlete wasn't tested in this comp?" You can nitpick the exact events, but I'd say every major thing you'd want to test: max strength, rep endurance, moving with weight, explosive power, grip strength, pressing power, leg/hip power, etc. were all tested. That's why I'm a big fan of having 8 events: with 5 or 6 events, you can't really test all of the above; with 8 events there's nowhere to hide. Everyone did the same events with the same equipment under the same conditions and the best man won. That's all you can ask of any strongman show.

Huge displays of strength. The handing of the guard to mitch was so poignant. And Tom Stoltman setting a new personal beat for mentak fortitude. I think there may be a Shaw vs Zydrunas style rivalry between those two for the next few years. They are both still relatively young and healthy. When he pulled that 1050lb deadlift and he went back to the backstage yelling "I AM NOT F*CKING PLAYING", man I WAS FIRED UP. That was 2012 Brian Shaw right there.

Great video guys, I don't really follow strongest man, I've watched the odd competition or seen videos of some events though admittedly I didn't really know much about the way it was scored etc. but after seeing an amazing video of Brian Shaw I went searching , found you guys explaining the competition and I loved it. I felt like I learned all there was to really understand ! Fantastic. You've made me want to see all the events now!! 😂

I think one of the biggest take aways is Tom stoltman. If he learned to put bad events behind him and bounce back... Watch out. The entire event was awesome to watch. I'm glad Brian went out on top. He's put so much of himself into this sport. I'm excited to see how far he takes the Shaw classic. I think it's just going to keep getting bigger.

Had a lot of fun watching the live stream and sometimes muting it and listening to you guys speak. Seriously what a fairytale ending for Brian. I predicted he would come in fifth because he lost it the past two years in a row I did not expect him to do that well.

every part of the weekend was worth the drive out for, the expo was fantastic and i got to meet several of the athletes, the competition was awesome, and that last heat on the fingals finger/power stairs was absolutely electric, not to mention several other moments that whole competition. sometimes being an eternal Shaw fanboy pays off

❤❤❤this was such a great show, Brian’s win, Tom’s clawback and all the amazing people I met made this one of the best shows I have attended, even the talks and expo were great. I would definitely recommend attending this in person, if you get the chance ❤❤❤

Toms battle from the bottom was inspiring. I think that the log event might be better as a ladder with reps at the end. I hate to see 5 people getting zero points…
@Demane69
@Demane69 9 ай бұрын
They only needed to do the light log once to get points. Use it as a warm up for the heavy. It's strategic, and in the hands of the athletes. I find this far better than lighter weights where the majority of the athletes are within a rep or 2 of each other and points become too simular.

@@Demane69 Kevin seemed to be the only guy wise enough to immediately move lower after his first failed lift. Although in behind the scenes video, Mitch was talking to Brian, and commented that if he missed a lift he'll move down immediately.

Mitch said in his preview that the first to 90 points would win. Mitch ended up with 89 points and left some points on the table on the last event to give Brian his stage. I think Mitch did what he thought he needed to do and Brian was simply THAT good. His finishes in each event: 4th, 4th, 1st, 2nd, T2nd (11pts), 1st, 3rd, 5th. That's the consistency of a champion.

It sounds like this event showed the best of the personalities of our pro strongmen: Tom smashing events when the starts lined up, Mitch taking no prisoners, maxime winning the gritty event, Evan hyping everyone up, and gav giving nothing less than everything. I need to see a video of his last bag over bar.

The actual contest was probably the best I've ever seen - but for the 3rd year in a row, let down badly by the streaming system. And the commentator microphones were so bad! I really, really hope they put all focus into sorting the tech side of this contest, as it cost 19.99 - which is 19.99 more than the Arnold Classic and Rogue, which are both far better quality streams and presentations, using actual decent streaming platforms (there were too many issues with ADLlive to list and it made things very frustrating at times). BUT - my god what a way to go out. Huge respect to the man, beat the best in the world fair and square in the most complete test of strength I've ever seen.
