Brian Williams, one of Canada's most respected broadcasters, joins the podcast to look back at his career which spanned over 50 years covering 14 Olympic games and countless major events around the world for CTV, CBC and TSN.
Brian shows off his memory as we get into some of his most memorable moments as a broadcaster. We discuss the wide range of events he had the privilege of covering, why the Olympics were his favourite and if there was something he didn't get to do that he would have enjoyed.
We talk about his inspiration in the field growing up, why he never took an opportunity south of the boarder and much more on todays episode with the legend himself, Brian Williams.

I watched Brian Williams call several Olympics games from California. I am not Canadian, but him and the Canadian TV coverage of the games made a lasting impact on me. It honestly makes me about as emotional as when that flame goes out at the end of the Olympics, to think we will not see him on TV as much going forward. All class, no one does it like him!

I hope Brian is working on a book to capture all these stories, and more, from his amazing career.

A Real Legend. Growing up, he's become synonymous with The Olympic Games for me. Iconic voice. Terrific Broadcaster.

Trick shots are about as frustrating as driving slowly in the passing lane. And you wonder why one of the young Anaheim players got clobbered.

Yup, put da puck on the blade, shorten up on the stick and skate with the puck like a CFL running back. I've thought the same as Shannon! Smart man 🤣

I am surprised he did not look at his watch for the time he signed his last contract with different timezones.

5:17 "What's the difference between that and putting it in your hand? And the answer is: Nothing." I don't play hockey but that statement doesn't make sense to me. That's like saying what's the difference between passing with your stick and passing with your hand? What's the difference between using your hand to bat a puck out of the air (above your head) and versus using your stick. The answer to both is EVERYTHING! There's a reason why one is legal and one isn't. There's a difference. Plus, I think flipping it over the net is way harder than using your hand. So skill is also a difference.

Agreed. John Shannon didn't know what he was talking about. "Too many people are afraid to make it illegal??" That's because its NOT illegal.

@@jamesanthony5681 My argument to that quote is that it has nothing to do with fear. They legitimately like it as a rare showboat/highlight goal. The Michigan has been around for, I think, decades now, but you don't see it done every game or every shift (which would make it annoying) but it would never get to that.
