Hard to watch this without a tear in your eye. Even in his incredibly diminished state, this song - the finest he wrote, one of the finest EVER written - did not betray him. Brian, you've done enough for all of us. Time to rest.

Brian did pretty good on this old song. Kudos to Al Jardine for sticking with him and being a true friend all those decades. Al doesn't get the recognition he has deserved for so long. He's a good guy.

Brian Wilson is a national treasure. This is so sad to watch, and I feel terrible for the ones who truly care about him; especially Al Jardine, who has stood by his friend all these decades. I know it's hard for them to watch the candle slowly burn out. I've been there. It's one of the most heartbreaking feelings in the world. I don't know what Brian's state of mind is, but I know music is the best medicine and being surrounded by it is better than the loneliness and seclusion of sitting home. Thank you Brian and Al for sharing your talents. Your contributions are the reason for so many of our good times and memories.

Current statement from Brian ''I wanna thank everyone for watching our Beach Boys Grammy special. I hope you liked seeing these young performers as much as I did. It made me very proud of what the boys and I did, and it’s cool seeing a new generation of musicians and fans diggin’ our music. I’m doin’ good - actually kind of busy doin’ nothin’ these days, but it’s OK! Take care and stay safe!'' Taken frim his web page.

Thank you for posting. Now I see why tix were cancelled. But hey, he tried and The Band clearly looks concerned. I saw footage of him at his 80th birthday, them just a few short weeks something happened. I believe they all paired down the band to give fans that bought tickets a chance to see him, and he was all about his music and his “ soul” heart meter.. 💕💜 He found love and lost a lot of time, I believe he was excited to share with a hurting world with good intentions. I’ve been listening and watching the past few months and it’s been a beautiful inspiration. Thank you to all, this footage is a real blessing since we could not go. 🙏

He hated touring in the 60’s so why on Earth would he want to do this? It’s truly painful to watch. The band could go out as a Beach Boys tribute band and still earn a living without having to drag this poor guy onto a stage.

That's beyond sad. That young, smiling boy with the falsetto, playing bass and happy that everything is going his way is long gone, replaced by a frail, almost translucent ghost, fading in and out even as we watch. Here he is disappearing at what will certainly have been his last show, and it won't be long until he's gone forever.

shouldn’t have let someone in this condition on stage. he probably didn’t fully understand his surroundings anymore; there’s something off to me about having someone who doesn’t fully know what’s going on still perform… even if he hadn’t been diagnosed at this point, people around him could probably still tell something’s up… but take my opinion with a grain of salt bc i’m no expert on dementia. just some loser w a wifi connection

@runnersdialzero1244
@runnersdialzero1244 8 ай бұрын
They're just trying to keep the ball rolling and be supportive, not "have a ball." That's all they really could do aside from just stopping mid-song and shutting it all down immediately, which probably would've been worse. It's really unfortunate, I wish people hadn't kept Brian going on and on with touring when it's been obvious he's been over it for a decade or more and never liked it much to begin with. His wife just passed, I hope he's able to recover to one extent or another and live the rest of his life as peacefully as he can. The guy in blue is Matt Jardine, by the way. He's Al's son who's been performing with The Beach Boys and/or Brian for decades now.
@obsidianobserver
@obsidianobserver 7 ай бұрын
The drummers just looked bored and concerned and Al Jardine looked like he was trying to have a positive spin on the situation. An interview with one of the band members came out a while ago, in which he said during this tour the entire band was really concerned and felt bad for both Brian and the audiences, but all they could do is to keep the show rolling for the people that paid to watch them, so that's what they did.
