So well said, thank you. I'm an old singer & musician who grew up with the Beach Boys. Then when Brian was in reasonable enough shape to get on stage- late 80's, early 90's, it was such an honor to see & hear him. Some of his MOST AMAZING compositions were not radio pop, as you know. He's a modern day Mozart, I once heard someone say ❤

SURFS UP. When I purchased this Album some 52 years ago, I thought WTF. As a teenager and Beach Boys fan, it stood me on my heels with a sound that had me totally bewildered. This album takes me back to a time of my youth that I wish I could re-live. Today, I cannot listen to this Album without being moved spiritually. Ground breaking does not do it justice.

Not appreciating him when I was younger, as teens we dismissed the Beach Boys as fluffy surf music and nothing more, we had no clue just what a genius he was, is, and it took 30 years for me to see that but I am so grateful I did, this is beyond amazing, this is other worldly, I know the Beatles were great but they had George martin and others to help, Brian Wilson did all of that by himself and buzzkill Mike Love hated this song and all the other music on Pet Sounds, he thought it wasn't surfy enough I guess, he's a total tool, I digress, now wonder others like Paul McCartney and David Gilmour idolize him, he deserves every single award and accolade given.
@suziesmith2142Ай бұрын
" Buzzkill Mike" 😂 that's great! Yeah, he and his nose sang a lot of the fun pop songs but Brian & Carl sang the INCREDIBLE compositions like this. I remember Linda Ronstadt talking about working with Brian and he was trying to work out some complicated harmonies with lots of passing tones.. anyway, he had to walk away, go to the piano and play a few Hpnky Tonk tunes, clear his head and then he came back and wrote those harmonies 😊 Part of it was the GORGEOUS back up harmonies on Linda's recording of the song Adios.. soo lovely.
