Bought the pattern on Etsy and just finished my first. I used a box of clear ornaments I bought 10 years ago and never did anything with 🤪 Love how you explain how to adapt pattern to different sized ornaments, super helpful. And yes, these are addicting, you got that right. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!

Hello. I have a question in regarding your response. So, to increase/decrease the width of the ornament one would increase/decrease the number of beginning chains. Correct? If I wanted to add more rounds of the puff stitch, I would just alter the number of rows between each puff stitch rounds? Please advise and I enjoyed your comment. Lisa

I have just begun learning to crochet. The puff stitches aren't looking right but I think it is the yarn I have chosen. So I made these just with the whole thing half double crochet stitches. It looks so cute and I thank you for the awesome tutorial!

Love these! I’ve attempted a couple times and my length is always too short! I’m so discouraged! I’ve done the gauge swatch too. I actually end up too tall of stitch so I tightened up a bit, but HOW DO I GET THE LENGTH? Larger hook? Thicker yarn?
@Shelleyb4028Ай бұрын
@@leeann9775 I would say just buy some stuffy/amigirumi polyester filler and fill up with what size you have made, then you can make whatever size you like!! No need to be worried about the weight of yarn or the stitch count :)

After you finish the puff stitches and you do the hdc for next row are you working in back loops or full loops?

I am a novice at crochet... What is a third loop? I am having a hard time figuring out what this means.
@lorraineandrews7770 Жыл бұрын
Third loop is shown in this video with the red needle. It’s part of the stitch that forms a yarn strand under the top ‘v’ of the stitch facing you as you look at your work. If you search for ‘anatomy of a crochet stitch’ you can find line drawings that explain what each bit is called. As in top V, front loop, back loop, third loop etc. These diagrams helped me when I was learning.

What is the diameter of the plastic ornament you used for this tutorial?
@doloresarruda7751Ай бұрын
@@bethmarley2891 all you have to do is make your chain the length of whatever size ball you have from the very bottom to the top under the cap

You definitely need to use clear ornaments as the color of the ornament will show through. If your yarn matches the same color of the ornament that should work also. My ornaments look amaaaaaazing! Here is my knitting notes for anyone who would like to know: FYI- these notes are for my particular yarn weight, size, and brand that I used (light worsted) and I used the free instructions. I have made one ornament so far. I originally CO 19 stitches for a 2.64 diameter ornament but then thought that would be to long. So CO 21 instead but, now that I have finished the ornament, I realized I should have stuck with casting on 19 stitches like she instructed. It still looks pretty good and I will cast on 19 next time. The final dimensions of the rectangle was 4 in x 7.5 inches and I think 3.75 x 7.5 would have been a better size (i.e. I should have only cast on 19). I kept loosing stitches on either end of the row, the single crochets at each end were easy to miss. I fixed that by placing a marker in the first and last stitches in the row. I didn't make 12 rows on each side of the braid. It came out to be 12 on one side and 10 on the other, and even though they are not technically even you can't really tell when it is on the ornament. I tried crocheting a swatch according to the free pattern but, for some reason, the gauge didn't work out. If I had followed the gauge then I would have used a crochet hook that would have been way to large. Not sure what happened there but I just used the hook size recommended from my yarn label and it worked out just fine. Seems like you have a lot of wiggle room with this easy pattern and it is simple enough to make minor adjustments with each iteration!!!

Hard to see with that yarn

I’m confused. Looks like you’re crocheting in the front loop?? I’ve always known that loop as a front loop. Been crocheting for 40+ years. Maybe I’m not seeing it correctly
