Be the sensor itself not the actual fan

check the coolant temp sensor, it’s behind the engine block next to the firewall. It’s more on the driver side and requires a 19mm to get it changed

Same with 2014 f10 535i . It sounds like a jet engine then throttles down , then throttles up , and repeat

Hi Brian, on my cruze 2013 the fans starts after running the vehicle for 5minutes ish. Got the temp sensor replaced 2 months ago. There are no codes or any other issues. Should I replace the thermostat?

That is what I would try next… good luck, it’s frustrating when multiple parts have the same symptom.

What about for a ford focus 2012 SEL ? It only gets really loud after driving for a while and it’s killing the battery so we have to keep jump starting it.

Can you still drive it ? Until you get the problem fixed
@BrianEaly
@BrianEaly 2 жыл бұрын
You can still drive it, but long term driving will waste your fans out pretty quick. They were just constant off and on.

What happens if I only have this issue when I turn the ac on? Also if the coolant temp sensor is bad would the gauge inside the car be off?
@brian242101
@brian242101 2 жыл бұрын
yes if the sensor isn’t detecting heat it could be the temp sensor or the connection rotting

@@brian242101 if my gauge in the car still starts cold and rises to 90c does that mean my coolant temp sensor is still good?
@brian242101
@brian242101 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dnasty1 doesn’t always mean it’s good it’s just functioning sometimes your coolant sensor goes out and gives you problems through out your vehicle smaller symptoms , mines used to have a hard time starting after warmed up or doing daily errands , it’s best to replace it , it’s trick to get to them sometimes but deep sockets work perfectly 11 mm or 19 mm to remove the senor they vary in size so mines not fit the same as yours
@Dnasty1
@Dnasty1 2 жыл бұрын
@@brian242101 mine is a real pain to get to it is between the back of the engine and my heat shield. And you need a baby arm to get there. I wanted to confirm it was bad before replacing. But my temp gauge in the car seems to be working fine. Never goes above 90c and always starts cold and gradually goes up. Wouldn’t this not be the case if it was bad?
@brian242101
@brian242101 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dnasty1 i think most vehicles have 2 different temp sensors even 3 brotha if i’m not mistaking one controls the fan module to turn on when it gets hot and controls the fan in general and the other controls air and fuel intake ass the car heats up and stuff that’s the one i replaced the one you made need is the a/c temperature switch
