I went from being relaxed to natural bout 4 yrs ago. Being natural is a lot ore work that I wasn’t expecting, I’ve opted for texlax instead
@SheIsFearfullyWonderfullyMadeАй бұрын
Yes it’s a LOT of work and I have zero hair skills… don’t know how to braid, flat twist, single strand twist… can barely properly shampoo and condition my type 4 hair I recently went back to relaxers (about 2 years so far) after over 10 years natural and couldn’t be happier but I get it if she wants to stop relaxing. I probably would not use relaxers if I lived in a cooler climate (I live in south Florida near Miami) and knew how to do hair like this young lady.

I think this will work well for you, and you always kept a lot of texture anyway. I'm looking forward to seeing your journey. If I didn't live in FL, I would try it again, but when I was natural, flat ironing was a waste, lol. I try to do at least one 6 month stretch during the year to cut down on the number of relaxers I get, and I'm now 7 months in. I've realized that it's easier to manage as long as I keep it stretched, which is why I decided to wait until month 9 for my relaxer. Your hair has always been beautiful, and I'm sure this journey will show it even more. 💜

Same! I live in Fort Lauderdale and people are always like “just be a straight natural”…. I was natural for 10 years and hated every single minute of it South Florida is typically hot and humid so silk press even with the highest quality products end up back in an afro within a few days…. Especially the roots iykyk However I respect all hair decisions… it just seems as if the “natural” community doesn’t give us that same respect which is fine… at the end of the day, all of us have to do what’s best for ourselves regardless of others opinions
@niickiknows9131Ай бұрын
Your hair seems looser because of the weight of your relaxed ends.. it’s stretching your roots. When the relaxed ends are gone your hair will shrink back up
@cmalbro6515Ай бұрын
Yeah, she has beautiful hair, but seems a little obsessed with a “loose curl pattern.” She will be upset when the relaxed hair isn’t there to weigh the hair down anymore and that hair shrinks up.
@liyahsoreal911Ай бұрын
Has she been relaxed her entire life or something? I thought everyone knew relaxed or heat damaged ends weigh your natural hair down. Everyone’s natural hair looks looser when you’re transitioning and your ends are straight. You won’t see your actually curl pattern until you cut those ends off and your hair fully grows out. Not sure how she came to this conclusion.
@gmr217Ай бұрын
💯…She will truly see texture when she fully transitions and the relaxed ends are cut off. She seems delusional and fixated on a “looser texture” smh.
@hrhsophiathefirst4060Ай бұрын
Not necessarily. Hair texture changes as many as 3 to 5 times in your adult life based on your hormones according to my dermatologist. I relaxed my hair from 16 to present, in the last 10 years 4 times a year. I hit perimenopause 2 years ago and I have relaxed once since then. I do not blow dry or flat iron my hair and I do not need to. My hair texture has completely changed and with a roller set twice a month straightens it nicely. I have no intention of stopping relaxers, I will get back to once a year as my stylist wants to keep it consistent. I wish her good luck on this new phase.

She's back! I remember when I first watched your videos. I remember the very first one I watched. This was years ago. I was in Africa back then. Anyway, I'm natural, now. Transitioned for a bit, then did a big chop.

I got my last relaxer in October so it almost feels like we are tracking on similar journeys ! Excited for the continued inspiration (regardless of hairstyle) and looking forward to whatever direction your channel goes in! Cheers to the beautiful transitions and new seasons!!!!! Hey Luv! I am here for the new journey! I was transitioning for the past year and a half and then big chopped in October. The sole reason for my transition is because my hair is thinning. I have been suffering from alopecia for almost 3 years now. Going natural I feel will help combat the thinning and since my strands are weaker it will help overall. My hair texture has dramatically changed as well which made the transition and my decision to go natural a lot easier. So Happy you are still going to remain here on YT. Always enjoyed your content and beautiful hair! 💕💕😘😘

*Good choice. You can always silk press your hair and be a straight natural. It seems better than relaxing for many reasons.*

I developed dandruff when I wore a relaxer. It was a type of dermatitis. I did use a shampoo recommended by my doctor called Nizoral. Love that stuff. It definitely works and worth the price. I would then rinse my scalp with original sea breeze after washing. Once I went natural it went away but I used both of these for a short time until I realized there was no need anymore. I went natural similar to you. My stylist just stopped relaxing and I wore a silk press for a couple of years. She cut off the ends during that time but then she got married and moved away. At that point I stopped getting it flat ironed and just started wearing wigs and ponytails for a few years, slowly cutting my ends off over time. Been natural every since. It has been probably 20 years. I definitely like the versatility of natural hair, but allowing it to grow long can be tedious. As you get older and the hair longer, you just don’t want to take the time. I have medium density, fine strand, tightly coiled hair. It’s mid back length. I don’t let it get longer than that and get it cut/trimmed 4 times a year. I wear it in micro mini twists now and love it. Been considering getting it locked as I decided to take a break a month ago and doing my hair every two weeks was an absolute chore. Back to my micro min twists after about 6 weeks with a quickness. 😂

Are you able to regularly shampoo/condition your hair when it’s in mini twists or does it “loc” if shampooed?

Your calmness about this for some reason was necessary😂. Thank you for telling me not to freak out. This is my first time coming across you and I absolutely came to freak out. You not making a big deal and being so matter of fact about it is awesome. It’s just hair and we should play with it and use it as the gorgeous accessory it is. 😊 enjoy

I'm also on my 18 months post, but for me my plan isn't about transitioning, and I also enjoy it. I wear protective style bc I have 4b hair and it's super thick but now as you said I consider everything as a transition I also turned 30 on 8th december.

Now you’re gonna add more heat to your hair by blow drying more and by flat ironing it more and by using more of the curling iron. Even if you’re natural too much, heat is still not good. We are going to even use more edge control, and that is not really good for your edges.

Do you guys know if I can do a keratine treatment on my texlax hair ?
@SheIsFearfullyWonderfullyMadeАй бұрын
Consult a licensed professional for exact details BUT in general yes! They even tell you on most keratin treatments kits. The wait period is about 2 weeks If going from completely natural to relaxed then do a keratin first… next week do a bonding treatment and a bone straight slik press then the next week relax while you still have a bone straight silk press. The results will be top tier!
