Yes our hair does change over time as you keep doing healthy hair practices. I have been natural for 7 years and I am age 70. My hair has greyed and it is very moisturized and the curl pattern is looser. I have 4ab and c hair. I haven’t put heat on it for 2 years. My hair is about bs length.

@@bhayne100 As I’ve experienced with my clients, Grey hair performs much differently than the head of hair you have before hand! The no heat is always a plus!

Why is it that when people say their hair is “healthier” their indication of that is just looser curl pattern? That’s odd to me.
@mrod875 күн бұрын
@@Zucifer8well the woman commenting above mentioned her age and her hair color, and it’s well known that grey hair often becomes finer, and looser…I’ve seen that occur with all my elders in my network. Additionally….when you learn about hydrogen bonds, and about sealing ur cuticle (which happens when you do not leave your hair wet for long periods of time, open cuticles make the hair appear frizzer less frizz means likely the cuticle is laid down which means the strands appear “heavier”) you will notice the hair will hang heavier. So that may be what she means rather than associating hair health with looser hair. When i was wetting my hair daily my hair was my frizzy, i had more breakage and splits therefore my hair seemed like it was a tighter curl pattern. Now that use heat to dry (literally will sit my natural hair no stretching) rather than allowing to air dry, my hair has less frizz therefore appears more weighed down. Additionally person whose name rhymes with Lucifer (😑)…ur on a page with a women who has relaxed hair, she enjoys stretched hair so she is speaking to her hair process and those who are here for that type of learning. Find urself a KZbinr who styles there hair as you desire and learn there, rather insult a place you not even trying to be.

13:56 Until relatively recently, I had not heard that licensed professionals overprocess hair. One of my former stylists said that older clients had asked her to comb their relaxer through the ends. She refused. I'm so thankful that I have always had competent stylists who cared for the health of my hair. My relaxed hair was always beautiful and low-maintenance. The more I read and listen to stories, the more I understand why most people had the opposite experience with relaxed hair: Improper chemical application, using direct heat frequently outside of wash day, scratching the scalp before the service. And probably more reasons.

@@michelleej So true! This is why I’ve always applied my relaxers myself because leaving texture is so so important to me and my hair health! That’s unfortunately where the bad relaxer experiences have come from

I have 4c but ultra-fine and high porosity. I think stylists see the tightness of my coils and decide to go in strong and rough which actually is the worst thing for my hair. It was only when I stopped going to black stylists and started going to Aveda that I was told the truth about my hair by non-black stylists. It was only then that my hair stopped being over-processed and heat-damaged.

I have followed you since 2017 and followed your care since you revealed how to grow relaxed hair. You, Sapphire, and Koeshia were and are my go to relax hair care. I am stretching for six month and not obsessed with over care. I too have been relaxed since childhood, over 40 years with no loss of hair, or adverse complications, yet I have always had a professional to do my relaxers. I am not a do it yourself person. My hair texture has softened with age and relaxer time is minimal. Your hair has always been beautiful. Too bad some viewers feel a need to critique you without knowing your history.

My hair changed at 20,30 and 40. So I expect a change at 50, 60 and 70. I don't know if I will make it to 80 as I have long-term health conditions. I'm a thalassemia carrier, am perimenopausal and have neurodivergent stress. This all affects my hair with internal hair loss. I live in London England where hair loss is not taken seriously by universal free healthcare so you just have to put up with it unless you have a lot of money to be constantly paying for treatments...which most people do not.

I’m sure you’ve answered this before, but what was the reason that you preferred to keep relaxing your hair despite knowing how to take care of your natural hair before the texture change? Was it that the previous texture was too kinky to get as straight as you wanted?
@BriannaRashay7 күн бұрын
@@Lola-v7k4b I’ve never taken care of my natural hair. My mom relaxed my hair as a child. Through my hair journey I’ve always left texture in my hair to keep some elasticity and make sure my relaxed hair kept some integrity. I continued to relax because I found a great regimen and I like wearing my hair straight without reverting.

All the best on your journey, but I'm unsubscribing. I gave grace on the first video because eh... but, I don't agree with the promotion of relaxing hair until hair texture is "looser." It is just the nastiest reason to go back natural, imo. It just isn't a vibe for me, and I've been transitioning for two years now. I would have loved to support, but it's just an ugly promotion of hair (relaxed or natural).

@BriannaRashay you are an influencer, so you are promoting. And frankly, women like me who relax just to try a different style or for fun have to deal with the constant comments of people accusing them of relaxing their hair because they dislike their hair texture. Then, here you come with your big platform, stating that now that you consider your hair texture "looser" and more pleasing to you, now you won't relax. Frankly, it's ugly. It's actually an ugly opinion to have towards hair. I hope to God nobody with a platform similar to yours discover these videos, dissect them, and apply it to all black women. I really hope you just take these tone-deaf videos down. Write it in your journal.

Some people relax their hair for fun or a different style. Some people do it for manageability and the ease of styling and that doesn't necessarily equate to not liking your hair texture. Persons do what they feel is right for their current lifestyle and that's ok. Her hair being looser translates to it being more manageable, as her hair appears to be thick and dense hence can be more difficult or time consuming to style with a tighter curl pattern.
@dollyrevenge984 күн бұрын
Whether you like it or not "looser" natural hair is more manageable and some people do relax their hair to make it easier to manage and style and that has nothing to do with not liking the way the hair looks.
