I know you didn’t enjoy this video for very long. But, it’s really informative and relatable for those of us that have only been flying RC for a few months. I’ve had to repair both of my planes after making similar “spatial awareness misjudgments”. And it’s super helpful to have videos like these to use as a reference for the “post mortem”. Seeing what’s repairable and what’s legit toast. So, as painful as it was for you, just know I’ll be watching this several times as a second opinion for my own less than perfect landings. Thanks 👍🏼

That tree seems to like any plane named after an animal. Eagle, fox... I crashed the FMS 1400 mm P-40. Very sad. Took off and turned to cross wind when one of the three prop blades broke off. Plane shook like crazy, ejecting the canopy and chewing up the cowling. I had very little altitude in order to turn back to the runway, landed hard and split the fuselage into two pieces. That was last summer. I made repairs over the winter, reshaped the damaged cowl with lightweight spackle, matched the color (as much a a colorblind guy can), and have already flown it again this season. I love this hobby because flying is super fun (and really the only way for colorblind folks) and most times repairs can get you back into the air again. Also, I purchased that plane after seeing your video of it!

I was flying my Eratix the other day near sunset. I lost orientation for a little while I couldn't tell whether I was going away from me or towards me. It kept getting further away from me all I could see was the outline of it. Luckily it's a slow flyer with a lot of rudder authority. I kept turning with the rudder until I could tell which direction it was pointing and worked it back towards me.

I had my Night Radian out yesterday in front of an approaching T-Storm. Kinda got into trouble low, hit the throttle and goosed it way up high. Next thing I knew my plane was pointed at me but rocketing further away and going up as if under power. It was getting sucked up. Full throttle aimed straight down got it out of the giant sucking cloud just it time. I almost lost sight of the thing reminding of my youth in the 60's losing free flight models.

A nice dose of realism :) I thought it held up really well for a 40 foot drill bitting. I know you must have all the parts in the basement, unless you gave your old Foxes away. A little China glue and that wing will be stronger than it was before. I'd remove the prop and make sure the motor and mount are good. I'm just shocked the fuse in the canopy area didnt break. I had a Banana Hobby Super Sky Surfer lose the elevator servo at 399 feet, and it went straight down and literally exploded into 10 million foam bits. Thats my favorite crash.

My worst crash ( ive had many, but) was my Pauly plaine. All i know about the plane is its a 2m powered glider witch was made in poland. Got it second hand. Well probably on its 50th fligt in my care had her out over 100 yards, and up ( maybe the same) up high ill say. I think i stalled her as i was just gliding around. She want stright down. I tried pulling her out, but needles to say he found the ground. Threw the trees i sware i saw leaves blow upwards. Well made the walk of shame. Couldnt find it. Looked threw the fences. Still nothing. Gave up. Came back the next day. Saw a kid and asked him if he saw it. Suprisingly he said yes. He pointed out the house. Went back to my car drove around to the house. Herd people in the backyard. Came around the house and asked about if my plain came down in there yard yesterday? Yup they said. I asked if i could have it back? They daid it got picked up this morning as they put it in the trash yesterday. I sais ok, and asked where it hit the ground. They pointed to the side door of there garage. It missed there garage by inches. The battery torched as there were scorch marks on the concreat in front of the door. Only good thing about it is it didnt hit/kill someone, or hit the house, or garage and start a fire. They were cool about the whole thing. Thats how Pauly died. How i miss that plane. My first quality plaine. RIP Pauly😪🤧😭😭😭😭😭

What a story. I hate when crashes get close to causing real property damage or injuries, but fortunately for me, we've never had an injury beyond a bruise or minor scrap/cut on a prop. Glad to hear yours was a "happy" ending, beyond losing the plane, which is a huge bummer!

If a manufacturer supplies a plane (or any kit) to a KZbinr, and you completely trash it, is there any sort of come back or "conversations" that take place? And if you persistently trash kit time & time again, do they just not send you stuff?

The companies we work with hope that we'll share positive reviews, but we've specifically told them we will and have to be truthful. When we see bad product, it pisses us off! It wastes our time and YOURS too. Also, nothing to sell too boot, plus not growing the hobby - it's really a bummer when this happens. Sometimes we'll share why a particular person, in a hyper-specific situation might want a product, knowing that MOST won't want it. That being said, crashes are part of the experience, and we've never gotten trouble for this from any of the affiliates we work with. I can tell you, it's a very sad day to have to call and say, "Oh yeah, speaking of the plane you sent....I crashed and totaled it before we got a decent flight" - I've done it a couple times. Not DOA or anything like that, just pilot error. One of the times I flew STRAIGHT into a phone pole - it was hilarious...but not what we wanted to share at the time, so we did a take two. Anymore, we just publish all the crashes. We don't have time for that crap.

I don't think either of us realized how close I was. It's strange how a larger plane will trick us into thinking we're closer or farther from objects we fly around all the time.

I've looked all over KZbin and the web for somebody with a Fox 3000 doing some actual slope soaring..."Woah! Fudge Packer!" I've seen nada. Saw some guys doing FPV with a Fox 3000, which seems cooler than cool. They were only doing cross country. You happy with the 6S 5000 battery, Brian? What other battery choices for just a wee lighter plane?? Love your humor and Family Guy worthy innuendo. Pulling the plug for one of these soon.

I want sooooo badly to slope this plane!!!!! It would be orgasmicly good, but since the Army Corp of Engineers basically own the Dams around here, we don't have a lot of great choices ;( BUTTTTT we do have one about 3.5 hours away. We might need to get out there and fly it again!

@@BrianPhillipsRC I live in the Okanogan Valley in Washington State. Every direction I look there are hills perfect for slope soaring. I can slope soar my driveway, our shop and the rows of hay in farmer's fields. I agree with you, videoing a glider soaring in blue sky lacks a little curb appeal. But I couldn't find anybody on KZbin with a Fox 3000 actually exploiting the glider's features on the slopes. I'm not a Utuber but perhaps I will find a Camera Crew of my own? Speaking of exploitation, are you in need of an official original custom designed BrianPhillipsRC Fudge Packer™ sticker? (I'm a happy sign guy with a penchant for mirth.)

Hi Brian I have a question. Can I use my old gen 1 dx8 with new planes and EDF Jets/ smart technology and batteries. Or am I out of luck.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
I don't know if you can update firmware to get into Forward Programming, but I'd suggest updating your firmware, and seeing if the menu appears in your Function List. I did it with my Gen 1 DX18, but that was the top of their line card for some time...so I believe it may have been an exception to their rule. If you don't want to upgrade, you can still control the plane, but maybe get a buddy to help you setup Forward Programming on their NX or newer (and updated) DX, then you can bind, and I BELIEVE you can just fly as usual.

I sold the crashed one. I would have had to replace the wing joiner, or make a massive repair to the wing joiner, but beyond that, it was actually amazingly not super bad.

Well atleast you caused the crash. 2 days ago I had my habus flight controller just shut down mid flight causing my poor habu to plummet to the ground resulting in a total loss of the plane.. . Anyone else ever had that happen? TX had new batteries and the 3s 4000 was 1min 20secs in use.. so I kno for sure it wasn't because of a low lipo or transmitter.. when I walked up to the jet.. the light on the flight controller was off. But the esc was still on "blue light". What really sucks is , that I got a brand new twin timber sitting waiting for my ds10 to get here BUT now that I'm having a hard time trusting spektrum flight controllers I'm paranoid as all heck to fly it. In case that flight controller causes another plane to crash.

It’s all good. That plane is a beast. Think about removing the prop and motor to check the engine mount . Its almost certainly bent, 35:52 broken, or has been moved from this lawn dart crash. Ask me how i know! Newbie flying a conscendo evolution. Enjoyed the video, thanks.

There is only one type of RC pilot, those that have had a crash and those that are going to have a crash. This is a real testament to the build quality of FMS aircraft, when you hit that hard they usually become an organ donor’. Personally I would like to see a video of you repairing and re flying the Fox because I always learn something to try when attempting to resuscitate my next brain fade.

Great point. Dad was a bomber pilot. Naturally I was into planes. As I got older, he always asked what kind of flying interested me. He expected me to join the Air Force or get a commercial license. My answer was always Crop Dusting. I like low and slow. His wrinkled face every time I uttered those two words convincing me to seek another career. Tugboats! Far more lucrative. "There is only one type of tug skipper, those that have had a crash and those that are going to have a crash." We were like Saltwater Cowboys in the business of getting beat up. Everything about this plane is exciting. Can't wait until I have a parts plane! ;-)
