So did yall find the fuel cap or just keep going with it open? How you going to leave us hanging like that
@ClayinSWVA21 сағат бұрын
That is what shop rags are for in redneck engineering 101. There should have been a dirty red rag in the shop truck for this purpose. It can also be used for stopping bleeding in an emergency but you will need a tetanus shot afterwards.

@@matthewtaliaferro I am well aware of that. I may not have been sarcastic enough. I make a habit of putting fuel caps on steps, or wherever they will be obvious enough to not forget to replace after fueling. Go Hokies, my friend!

Thanks for another great video Brian and Dad and BJ. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch. Stop stop. 🛑. I personally would not run that motor on the combine without a gas cap. You are sucking all kinds of chaff into that gas tank and eventually into the motor thru the gas. Just trying to HELP is all. Took a bunch of motors apart that did not have a gas cap and the motor had all kinds of crap in it. Please get a cap on it or seal it up until you can get a cap. Just trying to help is all. By no means am I bossing you around. Nice new machine, just don’t want it damaged. You are flying thru the beans , that is for sure. You bean header is doing great. Sorry your bean yields are not better. Some moisture sure would have helped you all. Sorry. Hang in there Browns. About it I guess. Love seeing that Fendt combine work in the field. Thanks for everything. You all take care. AND AND please get a gas cap on that machine. The Iowa farm boy. Steve. 😊😊👍🙏✅🇺🇸🇺🇸

I have to ask if your beans were80- 90 bu beans do you think that hp and 50' head will work as good and get through all these acres. Just asking because back in the.70' s I used to cut 35 bu beans and 150 bu corn. With a MF550 combine not as many acres but I am saying this isn't really testing that combine. That is all I am saying, you can't help a drought I realize that but just saying that combine should be doing this good
@joescheller668020 сағат бұрын
We had a combine that had been run with fuel cap off. That haunted us for. Couple of years with fuel issues. We finally had to remove the tank and thouroughly flush it out. Newer machines have better screening in fill tube. Often thought should be a kill switch hooked to the filler tube that would only allow starting with cap on.

I bet that soybean dust was great on that new combine, shame on BJ!
@MorganOtt-ne1qj21 сағат бұрын
Pulling the head behind the combine would mean getting way into the field before you can unhook and mount the head. Going ahead of the combine, in some places, you can swing enough to not even be in the crop, mount the head, pull the cart out, and get to it.

Bob seems to really enjoy running the Fendt. Wouldn't want to get into some small odd-shaped fields with the 50 foot head. Sure gnaws quite a path with every pass across the field. Hard to believe that 10-15 foot heads were the norm 50 years ago.

All that dust that got in the fuel tank YUCK . Back when i was still jockeying equipment i bought a super sharp 750 Massey silver cab with 1846 org hours out at Winamac in. at Gary Olsons consignment sale for Chump change , got the combine a 1163 corn head and a silver bat 20 foot head for 2450 bucks because it would not start at the sale . Dead battery and bad alt . Bought it at the spring sale and got it back here to N/E Ohio . First run was in wheat . two hours into the first field she up and dies , No fuel to the pump , electric lift pump is pumping for all it is worth and not getting fuel out of the tank . I pulled the bottom fitting out of the tank and they have a long screen on that fitting and it was plugged the full length and as i pulled it on almost a full tank i had fuel run for about 2 seconds and it stopped the hole was PLUGGED with BEAN DUST there was about 8 inches of bean dust in the bottom of that tank . Man what a job getting that stuff out of the tank . it was caked in almost as hard as a rock .

I remember the day I met 6 Deere S780s in a row, each pulling a 16 row head and then 3 grain carts and assorted service trucks. And the day I saw a lady driving a Suburban pulling two headers behind it. Or the day my neighbor went down the road in his pickup pulling 2 more hitched behind it. Or the Amish buggy pulling like a child's little red wagon behind. I like your ways best though.

You’re lucky that machine kept running with no fuel cap. My dad also filled up our combine a couple years ago and didn’t put the cap on and we had to drain the tank and make a spray contraption to rinse the tank out with fuel because there was so much chaff in our fuel tank. Had to filter out about 200 gallons of fuel a few times and change fuel filter 5 times before we got it to run again. It was a supreme pain in the a$$

One reason for not pulling the head with the combine is shown here. Where do you park the head where you can get to it. If you have wide open approaches it might work better but if hooking up along the roadway not so much.
