I use a magnetizer like that on occasion. I own a set of magnetized screwdrivers, too. Very helpful. Good video, man.

Not sure if they still have a starter relay way up under the dash or not, but I had an 87 Accord with intermittent starting issues, fixed by replacing the relay under the dash!

I'm guessing you know about the trick of putting a little grease on the end of ur screwdriver? Sometimes the screws aren't magnetic. Of course this works best with phillips screws. Great vid as usual...you're easy to understand and the camera work is always excellent. Do you have an Indiana license plate?

Is it it possible to fix the burned contacts in the ignition switch? I opened up my old one and its looks like yours. I was gonna try scraping off the burned tar.

Well this video is an example of why you start diagnosis at the battery. I get it though, sometimes you can know too much for your own good and you skip the basics like diagnosing electrical at the power source.

Video is a little confusing, but I got what you where saying. Seems like you skipped a battery check and visual inspection, just went for the ignition switch. Should always check the battery and connections first, especially if there are aftermarket parts present in the problem area. (K.I.S.S.)

Can you tell me why my accord isn’t starting ,replace fuel pump ,temperature gauge ,the main relay wasn’t working so we hooked a flip switch to it and fuel pump turns on, but the car won’t turn on now , crank no start please someone help me is it the starter module?

my 2000 accord 3.0l will shut off while driving, it may take 30min- 3 hours to start up again, my ignition is kind of hard 2 turn all of a sudden...will a bad ignition shut down the car like that..or will that starter do it

Ignition. The starter is only engaged while starting the car and is irrelevant after that

Question brother I really need some info on this accord I have.. I tried to replace the switch.. and the key will not turn in the ignition hub… so the only way to start the car is to put the key in ignition hub & to use another key to turn the key slot in the ignition switch to turn it on… I’m trying to find the problematic part that’s not allowing the key to not turn the ignition hub… I’ve tried to trace and I’ve also seen just how hard it would be to take the whole ignition hub off. It’s almost designed so u can’t take it off bc of the clamp & bolt that holds it on around the steering column. It looks like I wouldn’t even know where to start to take it off completely!! Not even being lazy or anything else.. it genuinely looks as so.. I really need help knowing where to start with diagnosis for the root issue here.. thx very much my good sir @brianmobile1 I would really appreciate this very much

I have the same problem. I replaced the ignition module because I thought it was bad. Turns out the starter was the problem. Now the key will not turn in the ignition. I can turn it on the same way you do but the steering wheel stays locked. I don’t want to take it to the dealer because it will have to be towed there plus the dealership cost to fix it.

13-15 honda accords starters die anywhere from 20k to 60k, my car has 40k on it and it wont start every morning, I have to turn the key 5 to 10 times to get it to start up. It started happening a couple weeks ago. It would randomly not start, no it fails everytime. Class action lawsuit against honda for not recalling these starters....

Hi Brian. Good job visually inspecting the components. Did you replace the relay as well? I would have after seeing charred contacts in the switch. I would think the contacts in the relay are probably getting burned too.

My 02 Accord 3.0 is doing the intermittent start.....battery is good...starter is good......alternator is good....fuel pump is pumping. .I've tried the ground cable replacement....no help. Im at wits end and cant afford a mechanics diagnosis. Can anyone help?

If you just drag the screwdriver over an old speaker magnet you get better results.

I have two magnetizer/demagnetizers. One of which is like the one in the video. I've been able to magnetize easily, but never demagnetize. Perhaps there's a technique I'm not following correctly?

Geo Logic Never used the tool but if you wack whatever you're trying to demagnetize it generally works

"Whacking" is actually an amazing phenomenon when it comes to magnets. Take a steel fence post and put one end into the ground in a north direction, 30 degrees from horizontal and then hit the other end with a hammer. The steel rod or post has just become magnetized very weakly, reverse ends and do it again and it now has changed it's magnetization in the reverse polarity. Geo Logic - amazon link to reviews of the tool have an email from the company instructing to use the steps on that side of the tool and walk the shank of the screwdriver down those steps. This would be a minor whacking. Shock waves work both ways - it's a fact.

In a freaking CRV you can't even see the starter, have to disassemble half of the engine bay to get to it. Lucky Accord owners

Not really. Accord 2.4L you have to take apart the intake manifold to even see it.

Fox It has a chip in the key that the computer needs to see before it will allow the vehicle to start. Even if you twist the ignition cylinder, it's not going to start without the key.
