Hi Brian. Went I uses to rebuild pumps , the pump plunger was check by reversing pressure on number 1 injector pipe union and apply 20 bars and measure the roller with a micrometer. PLEASE NOTE IF MORE THAN 20 BARS PRESSURE APPLIED YOU WILL BEND ROLLER CAMS ADJUSTERS. Spill timing is also done the same way by setting the letter to the circlip grove in the window. Your video is good and minor adjustment can be done on the vehicle on the throttle arm.

My tractor has sat all winter, I think either the priming mode spring has indeed gone out or the metering valve is stuck like Chuck! Holy smokes, you may have saved my summer with this one... Week stream on the injectors and it's not pumping high pressure fuel as it should. Gaskets and seals, I'm going in!

OMG! You sent me into a bit of a panic! After doing battle with my CAV pump for nine days straight, I finally got it working. Then I see you putting a ball in the head locating bolt at the advance. First thing I thought was, "Oh crap! I don't remember seeing any ball!" I ran out in the dark with a flashlight and a magnet, and poked around. Finding nothing, I removed the locating bolt to check on it. Fortunately, mine doesn't have that ball arrangement! 😂😅

For years case tractor used the same perkins engine.. same bore and stroke same cam, for the four cylinder. The went all the way up to 95 horse power. All the did was change that setting. Smaller 45 horse tractors had the ability to produce 95 horse power. This was when they were David browns and switched over to case.

Very informative, thanks for the explanation of the amount of fuel, rollers & pistons, but a little to fast , especially at the 4.40 time . You did not show any alignment views through the window .

With all do respect heres some feedback from a long time subscriber.........I miss the car and truck repair videos. I've noticed that you don't make too many of those videos lately. I still love the channel content though but would love to see more of the old school briansmobile1.

Thank you so much for that feedback. I need that. There are so many reasons why I'm doing what I'm doing, but half of it is carrying too much stress, not getting enough sleep, and escaping to things the push and interest me rather than doing what works. You've been there for me, I need to be there for you.

Hey, I believe my boost compensator is failing on one of these pumps, as I don't think the pump is upkeping with the demand when on higher revs (when the rubo kicks in, technically). Is membrane replacement possible without any additional adjusting? Or does the pump have to be adjusted after the boost compensator was messed with?

Hello! Very good video! I opened my regulator valve for cleaning (5:10) and noticed that both springs (2 and 5) were missing. Any idea how strong those are? And where to "lend" them? Usual pen-spring-lending not gonna work? 😂 Cheers from Finland!

I have stripped this pump and the pump rotor the pump then came apart and the rotor adjusting cage came apart from the shaft is their a proper way for this cage to align up

hey there, nice vid. thanks for sharing your knowledge. one question regarding engine rpm: if id like to raise egine rpm, how do i align the governor springs in the linkage? for example, 2200rpm eqals hole 2 in control arm and hole 2 in linkage - how to set it for say 3000rpm?

In your assembly at time 1:47- 1:57 what is that part you are saying must hang over just a touch, ? l have not taken my pump apart , l have only turned the fuel plate, with the pump still on the tractor ! Since I don’t know exactly how it is supposed to be , l would not know if what l saw was correct or wrong !!

If that ball inside that bolt falls out what will it do to the engine if it’s ran? Mine has currently been lost, now I’m worried about running my machine.

Hi, Is this mostly to seal leaks . My pump needs some internal parts such as cam. Tractor stalls easily and no start when hot. or does it need a bench test after installing new cam etc. to calibrate it. I may be on the wrong video . Correct me on this, Seems like replacing seals is more of diy project vs replacing major internal parts. Thanks.

Great explanation video Thanks for it It is great help im a mechanic but dont have much access to do pumps or so but im interested in what way the pumps are build and how they work Thumbs up 👍👍👍

Do you think if the return side of the injection pump was clogged with debris it would cause the engine to shutoff? I have an issue where the engine starts and dies. Found debris in the return pipe when i removed it. Injection p ump was just rebuilt. Low pressure pump is good. Shutdown solenoid is good and circuit was load tested.

Hi! That small spring at the bottom that you talked about at the intake of fuel. You said it will be stuck in priming mode and it wont run. But isnt priming mode making it run as h*ll? Yester day i pushed down my primimg button on my DPA and the engine went crazy and ran away. I cant get it to stop normally anymore? Its like the pump is stuck in max fuel setting??
@briansmobile1 Жыл бұрын
What time stamp in the video? Priming mode is to purge air and flood the rotor with fuel.

I watched this vid about 10 times before l got the fact that you were stating the min/max fuel setting correctly at the 30 sec point & the 45 sec point & l have used it to try and get some more power out of my 4BT Cummins 390 1990 . Some time ago l was having trouble ,& a tractor mech said it was my inj pump , he had a shop rebuild it , & when l got it back it was real short on power ! They jacked around fir 3 days and finally gave the pump full advance, but the power level still low !!, IT was a dirty in line fuel filter one of those little ones , 3/8 fuel line . YOUR vid has shown me how to add more fuel , but things still are not right , hardly no smoke , even at max fuel . How could they have messed up my pump???? I wish l knew how to get hold of you , l don’t want to give my e-mail address to the world. The part that you put on at 1:40 with the 2 -12point bolts , ? Is it possible to install it incorrectly??

Diesel does not over heat in a lean condition. You can either have too little fuel to make power, enough fuel to make power, or too much fuel which will cause heating issues and start cracking things like your pistions or heads. To little fuel is safe just doesn't make any power.

I have this injector pump on my Perkins Diesel in my boat and am dumbfounded how to adjust the governor max speed setting. Mine has a hydraulic governor and I can't find anything. The mechanical one is well documented but I've reached a dead end.

There's useuely a pressure sensitive valve that dumps fuel pump body fuel pressure which in turn alters the fuel pumping element /s load setting

Hi I'm rebuilding an old Universal/UTB 550 tractor at the moment. Done a complete engine overhaul. The only thing I haven't touched is the pump but I feel its a good time to service it. I've always been scared off rebuilding the pump. Do you think this is something a moderately skilled DIYer can do?
