Math subject GRE 3768 problem 45

Is there any "trick" to solve this problem faster? Sadly last time that this question appeared, I wasn't able to asnwer it properly because of the lack of time to solve it..

nothing great that I'm aware of, but maybe someone else will see this and have some good advice for you. The only (minor) thing that comes to mind is to write the derivatives using a shorthand. For example, differentiating x=f(u,v) could be written as 1 = f'(u)*u'(x) which would likely be a little faster than 1 = df/du*du/dx, especially as you write that expression repeatedly when doing the algebra.
