That halftime show didn’t do him any favor. Once that ankle rolled over and got injured. Need to keep the mobility going for the fluids. Once you cool off then it becomes big and huge. Halftime show was like 20 minute delay.

His ankle looked pretty swollen already when he got injured in the 1st half.
@harv83
@harv83 Ай бұрын
@@javierlandaverde4108not exactly... That swelling is a massive talocrural joint effusion, probably from a torn deltoid ligament, possibly from some of the other structures mentioned. You're going to get that massive swelling no matter what you do - mobility *might* help to control it a bit, but unlikely it would do anything of significance. You can always try to maintain compression to manage the swelling itself, but then it's going to cause a lot of pain from the increasing intracapsular pressure

In the first half he put all his weight on his right ankle, in order to kick with his left foot (where the tackle occurs) but his right ankle gives in.... that's why he immediately grabs his right foot instead of the left, where he's kicked.... Messi's ankle was hurt before the 40 min? mark not after HT. You can see when he cut with his right foot and the foot Eversioned right before the opposing player tackled him with the ball out of bounds. Commentators called it left ankle injury on the spot but was wrong. I don't have access to replay. He was down for a few mins and tried to walk it off and play but seems like he couldn't cut nor run hard. But def it was his right ankle that was injured. Even the ESPN commentators never showed his pre-HT injury; only the one after HT.

Hello Dr. Sutterer, I’m a huge fan of your channel. I just noticed that you analyzed the play in which he is subbed off but the main injury occurs in the first half of the game as he runs for a ball off the pitch. Similar to the video that you analyze he puts a significant amount of stress on the medial part of his ankle. It would be awesome if you could find that clip, it is around the 34 minute of the game where he initially gets injured. He is then taken out of the pitch and returns to the game for the remainder of the half but he limps the rest of the game. I think when he was subbed out he reaggravated the injury.

Had the same posterior tibial ligament rupture, never the same. Needed all-American surgery and had major atrophy. Neuromas, plantar fascia pretty much useless, favored knee is now worse off than bad leg from picking up the slack. After 15 years of competitive sports I’ve learned outer rolls are rudimentary compared to inner. Lateral ligament reconstruction is a walk in the park compared to posterior tibial reconstruction.

During the first half of the game he seemed to have rolled his right ankle pretty badly when he went to try and center the ball and then went down after. At the time everyone was only looking at his left foot because everyone thought he went down to try and win a foul when the Columbian player hit his left foot as he crossed it but even the commentators were confused because when he went down he instead grabbed his right leg.

mind you, this non-contact injury, like you said, is somewhat serious. However, this injury was provoked in a contact injury in the first half. During half-time, they already considered subbing Messi but he wanted to play "until he dropped". Therefore, this non-contact injury is a moot point as something happened prior to this non-contact injury.

I made a joke about an Instagram reel of someone kicking a rat into a kids face that I saw. So, I said "Damn that's a Messi kick." I had alerts on, and "Brian Sutterer" came on already with the Messi foot injury breakdown. Man, He's like a ninja I swear. ESPN also popped up the injury but as detailed as Brian's video is. Everything comes in 3s I guess. 😂
