Yes, the judge clearly has no power over him. Her only threat was to conduct the trial on a normal timeline, in effect telling him she won't approve his delays that he wasn't entitled to in the first place. That's not a sanction, it's a threat ti apply the law to Donald's case. Clearly she plans to approve delays that she doesn't have to. And she plans to do nothing to him unless he agrees to it. The problem is that people who specifically desire positions of power in order to lead (control) others generally have flawed personality issues. People who desire a political office because they want to do the work of that office and make a difference in society are generally the good ones. Such people are often ‘reluctant’ leaders who are urged forward by others who feel they’d be good at it. Those who actively seek power positions because they want the power to control and lead people (police positions also draw in such people) are the bad ones. Generally narcissistic and it’s hard to get them to follow higher standards because they want to tell others not be told themselves what to do or how to act. It should be easy enough to identify such people by how zealously they pursue the power position but unfortunately most voters/people are followers looking for a leader and are thus easily manipulated and fooled
