It's enjoyable to see all the things you use to run your "camping toys". I am so challenged when it comes to solar power stations and their related panels. It's the one item(s) that keeps me from camping year round throughout the south in my Van. I do "camp" all summer but in the MOTORCOACH and many places it just doesn't fit size wise. I absolutely 💯 ♥ van camping but at 70 plus years of age I find AC is a must.

My RV is wired the same, you keep the converter on to run your DC stuff(lights, fridge and such) turning the battery switch off is all you need to do. Good test of that power station for boondocking with the fridge on as well.

I enjoyed the video and seeing all the little upgrades you did gives me a few ideas. I do have one suggestion about the fire ants though. When we go camping or even just spend the day at a picnic sight at the lake, I always mix up some Medina Orange Oil cleaner/degreaser concentrate. I use 2 tablespoons of the orange oil with a half gallon of water, put it in a spray bottle, and spray it around our tent, picnic table, truck tires, etc. It keeps the ants away plus it smells nice.

You should easily be able to run one AC off of a standard 110 extension cord. You just need the adapter to get it down from 50 to 110. And don’t use the microwave at the same time. It will pop the breaker

Hey Brian, I believe with the battery switch set to off your converter was directly powering the 12v loads bypassing the battery. I believe turning the battery switch to on and shutting off the converter you would no longer be charging the battery and should still have 12v power.(at least that is how my camper was wired). I imagine it works well just inefficient. Love the video though!

Brian, follow your battery cables from the battery and you should find the charger. Mine plugs into an ac outlet under the sink, if you flip the breaker it cuts off a ton of stuff, but if you just unplug it then it just kills the charger. However, your kill switch on the battery should do the same thing. Also the rv 12v will run without a battery when plugged in to shore power on most rvs- yep weird. Try those camping towels, they are very lite and dry fast. Coach?! That there is an RV Brian.

If your battery switch is off, and then you turn off the converter, then no power is getting to your 12v appliances. You need to turn the battery on and then flip the converter breaker off. Then the battery will power your 12v appliances and since the converter is off it will not charge the battery.

I understand you were doing an experiment with the portable battery power, but FYI, I can run my 13.5K btu air conditioner off of a 20A house circuit ( travel trailer is in the driveway ). I use a 10ga extension cord. Edit: I guess I should have said that was an expirement ! ( haha, just kidding buddy !! )

How are you liking your new truck? It's crazy that f150s and super dutys are essentially around the same price when you option them out the same. Unless you add the diesel I guess. But I'm in the same mindset as you about the diesels. They have their place, but I don't quite need one.
