In those times, women that were practicing a man's job was unheard of. Most of the times women were either housewives or just practicing simple jobs. This will not be the first time they'll say that Sagiri's gender isn't suited to be an executioner

Well, yeah. One of the great things about this anime is it's historically accurate feel. People say she's not supposed to be that, but it's not exactly malicious coming from them, but just them being people of their time lacking understanding of such concept. They're still great people despite it and I like it

And remember... woman and men aren't the same, cutting a head looks easy BUT in the first chapter they explain WHY ISN'T EASY TO CUT A HEAD even for men, isn't only about skill even if you hit the right place (between vertebrae) you need a lot of strength to cut the head with a Katana, so yes thats why Sagiri is outstanding AS A WOMAN, we aren't talking about a simple modern job like CEO or others, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT CUTTING A HEAD OFF and as a JOB.

I have beheaded an animal before and its not fucking easy lol, I am a guy and I was young and small at that age compared to now and my superior/senior was questioning my ability and claryfing my weak points,and I dont see anything wrong for questioning someone's ability from a logical perspective. Like if I see a skinny dude being an executioner in an anime I would also question it. It would be malicious if they are coming from a superiority complex,but not if its something logical If you are a woman but you're suited and you want to execute people then no one should question you,but the idea that there are men jobs and women jobs its pretty much true on the extreme side of society. Like if we look at miners or construction builders risking their life so we can use a smartphone in a comfortable building compared to a nurse or primary school teacher,the skills you need to perform those jobs are SOOOO different from each other and the guys and girls that do them are so different aswell,nothing wrong with that its just we work better as a collective group with different strengths and weaknesses
