Hey y’all. There are some minor spoilers, but I tried hard not to give away who-dun-it in my review. If you’re in the mood for a moody (haha) neo noir, investigative crime drama, Brick (2005) is it. Not too violent, little bit of action, full of DRAMA, twists and turns.
It starts with a frantic call from Branden’s (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) ex-girlfriend Emily (Emilie de Ravin) the love of his life. Concerned for her, he goes digging into her personal life, uncovering a disturbing connection to a drug dealer known only as, The Pin. As his investigation brings him closer to the rich and popular, he makes a startling discovery…
Emily is dead. Murdered. Hell-bent on finding her killer, he infiltrates The Pin’s organization to get close to those who knew her and discover the truth.
Bum. Buum. BUUUUM!

You are the only other person I've ever known to watch this movie. The music was on point with the cinematography.

Yes! An angle or music/sound choice will take a scene to the next level. Like when Brendan is being chased down the hall at the high school.

The scene that really slaps, is towards the end, when hes in bed and you see past traumas or couldve beens. It makes me think to say dream in german is traum. I wonder if its related to trauma, yet the trauma wont let him sleep when he wants to.

I agree, he’s always on the move, even when he’s supposed to be sleeping or resting. An idea or realization will pull him out of sleep and into action.
