Reading the book now, found @ a sidewalk sale, so far it is simply stunning, MA knows her community/culture very well, I see so many Asian women suffering & saying it's " their fate", women aren't destined to suffer, we are plessed & favoured by GOD to be the bringer of life/light, some are born into cultures who uses our good looks as weapons to belittle & oppress, the men, have inflated egos, illiterate themselves, yet are the "voices" of their homes, communities just because they are " men", sadly, not much has changed, u can't live in 2 🌍! 😔☮❣

I am very sorry to read that it was a wrong portrayal. I thought the film was very good and the acting is brilliant. I watched it last night on channel 4 catchup. The point that life has to be endured comes so true to me and many others. The ending his great. Regarding films with an asian theme, I thought the films 'Blinded by the light', 'eaten by lions' and 'yesterday' are just wonderful. God bless you my friends.

Didn’t the Bangladeshi community go nuts over this movie . Mainly the men wanted to prove to everyone that the ladies did have a voice but only when the men are asleep and the ten pots simmering away are drowning them out.

Well, in fact it is. But there’s a big debate. This movie is from the post colonial book Brick lane written by Monica Ali. She’s a Bangladeshi woman who lived as a middle class person in London. So, this is where the debate cames in. Nevertheless, the book is pretty accurate on many parts and very well written. Still, it is a work of fiction and not the entire reality.

I love very mutch this mouvie is nor very famous in Europe also in Italy but is very specially mouvie an history of a woman of Bangladesh who go in London and change completely her life . Very Beautiful and tenderly .the soundtrack is Wonderful .you can try soundtrack in KZbin Adam s lullaby
