I watched a lot of these videos to learn how to do this. Yours with your father is by far the best of them all, the most comprehensive and easiest to understand. I feel like I can do it, you’ve given me the confidence. Thank you so much, and God bless.

I watched all 6 parts of your video. Videos like this are worth their weight in gold to a diy'er like myself. I will be working with Adobe (popular material in the desert southwest) but I learned so much from your video and I am extremely grateful that you and your dad shared your many years of experience. Thanks so much.

This is a very great instructional Video ! I am a Mason with over 30 years in the trade and i watch some of these video's these guys make and it really upsets me to see how the people who are making the video don't know what they are doing. They don't show proper use of the trowel and i believe if you are going to teach something at least know what you are doing . I really enjoyed watching the older gentlemen using his trowel he makes it look like a extension of his arm. Great Job fellows.

Not sure if you still monitor the page but great instructional video. Can definitely see the expert mason doing his thing, love when you ask him to slow down and he does a little but it's so natural for him he just keeps on moving. Must be awesome to work with your father too, great work.

I am just finishing up one using bricks left over from a house addition and it took about 130 bricks. One thing I did was started the mailbox down in the ground a little bit to practice on the first couple of courses before i got to where people could see it. Please take the time to clean mortar off the bricks as you go (I used a toothbrush) as it makes it easy to do the acid wash later. Also, watch the corners when brushing as the mortar jumps out of the corners easily. Good luck!

David, Your dad did a great job and you pulled it together, I learned a lot. I do have a couple of questions before I dive in on my project. I have the same mailbox. Other videos I have seen put a drain in for any moisture that might get into the box. Did you put something in? Second, the rows of brick going up the the side of the mailbox are not even. It looks like you had to notch and create some skinny or short bricks on the top of the mailbox. How did you do that? Last, where is the flag for outgoing mail? Just left it off?
@flagstoneexperts9 жыл бұрын
dmg4usc We put in a few holes on the joints on the bottom course. That way any moisture will drain out. I'm not sure about the second question. Sometimes we had to make cuts for the mailbox and we did leave the red flag off. I hope that helps you a bit. Great luck with your project! David

how can you replace the mail box when it wears ?
@flagstoneexperts10 жыл бұрын
If you buy a quality mailbox, it should last longer than you do. If it doesn't, you'll have to cut it out with a saw and chisel. I've seen one my dad put up decades ago and it's as strong as when he installed it. That's the benefit of brick and stone. Great luck with your project! David
