Now that I think about it, you could combine the ADU and Galaxy Squad human forces into one army. The ADU was formed to fight aliens that attack earth, but they seem to only operate on the planet's surface and within Earth's atmosphere. While the Galaxy Squad could have been created later as an elite force that took the fight to space. With heavier armor and vehicles designed for space travel and combat. There are also many CMF Robots, Sci-Fi troopers and Aliens that you can add. The CMF series 1 Robot could be a prototype for the GS robots. The seres 7 Galaxy Patrol, series 13 Galaxy Trooper, and series 16 Cyborg could easily be added to the GS. What if a Galaxy Squad member went Rogue and became the Space Villain!? He then stole a series 1 robot and upgraded and reprogramed it into his sidekick, the series 8 Evil Robot. They then went on to gather other human criminals from Earth's fledgling spacefaring colonies. Forming a criminal group that would come to be known...as Blacktron. The response to this new threat would be a new group of spacefaring law enforcement, the Space Police. I may have gotten WAY too into this! 😅

Great video! I just LOOVED this theme as a kid and was so invested in those animation shorts online and the crossover it really is to bad this theme didn’t continue. I wonder if part of its cancellation had to do with just the huge amount of themes lego was trying to throw out at the time to see what stick and I guess that theme was Ninjago as anyone who grew up with lego 2011 knows ninjago was huuuge. Use to collect the spinners golden weapons all that stuff.

this era of space themes always felt to me like they were paying homage to specific sci-fi movies. something about the design choices for the Alien Conquest aliens always felt very Mars Attacks to me, and you cannot convince me that Galaxy Squad isn't just lego Starship Troopers

Would you ever consider doing a timeline video of all the connected LEGO themes? I imagine in my head there is themes going on at the same time, such as Power Miners, Alien Conquest, and maybe even Ultra Agents. I know that themes lead into each other, and have reoccurring characters. What would the evolution be from Adventurers to Alien Conquest to classic space? How did LEGO people go from getting attacked on Earth by aliens to colonizing other planets and developing the Space Police? What is the link between the modular buildings (time period), and the characters in these themes? I know that a couple of characters from the adventurers theme have popped up in recent sets (I.E. the orient express and the natural history museum)

this was at the hight of my lego interest and i loved the molds and designs, the blue of those great space helmets from the mystery bags looks fantastic. and the aliens are properly unique while only making up a few molds. baby blue vs green and purple just feels great. really wish it had a second run.

I love that the biggest underrated Lego space themes imo (Galaxy Squad and Alien Conquest) took the classic alien invasion theme into two unique forms. Alien Conquest is full-on embracing the classic sci-fi tropes, UFO abduction, box art with crop circles, and UFOs, the alien's designs are refreshing takes on little green men. The builds fit both sides, with nice little references to movies like War of the Worlds, and Independence Day. Even the ADU design is nostalgic with that uniform blue, blasters, and facial expressions. Then there’s Galaxy Squad, which nowadays is LEGO’s attempt at Starship Troopers and Helldivers in the best way possible. Teams that are color-coded with their robot sidekicks, builds that show off the uniqueness of the teaching team, and then there are the aliens- which imo is a nice upgrade from Alien Conquest with their unique take- the more insect elements such as cocoons, little bugs, and the designs such as the mantis, red bug, mosquitos, and the basic footsoldiers. There’s also the fact that Galaxy Squad is a prequel to Ultra Agents with the shared character of Solomon Blaze and is said to be a sequel to Monster Fighter!

I remember WAYYY back when I was just a young lad in 2011. My parents had taken me to the Lego store and I wanted some of these sets. My choices were between the saucer set or the tripod with a smaller set. I chose the tripod and I actually still have some of the pieces left over today!

I love the idea of Alien Conquest! It takes the idea of vintage science fiction Hollywood movies (War of the Worlds, generic UFO movies) and combines it with something very in line with Starship Troopers, but it’s all kept at a level that’s acceptable for kids! (one could even say that this theme leads into other Space themes; specifically Galaxy Squad, but others could be bent to make a timeline)

I only got the alien walker but I do love the look of it and think I should rebuild it, think my fav thing about alien conquest, is it introduced the human plasma pistol (shotgun I always saw it with the binoculars and especially now seeing the animation) that every theme now and again uses like in HF invasion from below and galaxy squad. Speaking of I always liked the headcanon of the ADU being the processor too the blue team form Galaxy squad (and after bug war becoming the ultra agents) to a point I been thinking of modding them to be part of that theme and perhaps vice versa. Anyhow great vid like always!

This was such a fun theme! I remember at the time thinking the Clingers' gimmick was REALLY cool and wanting to get a few just to stick them on minifigs. I didn't want to get into ANOTHER theme though and didn't pick up any of the sets. I didn't even know about some of the features you showed. I really missed out! I had the Alien defender and the Mothership. They were probably some of my most played with sets as a kid, especially the Mothership. I did extend the claw arm though because by default it didn’t have much reach but with just a little bit more length it was so much more fun to play with. I would always have characters run around on the outer ring shooting at the center while the claw tries to reach up and stop them.

I am originally into Lego castle, (and sure alien universes like Star Trek / Halo / Star Wars... and so on). Lego could use futuristic modular builds... 🤔 But, I digress! I loved this theme as a kid, had all of them except for the jet set (still remember getting the HQ set on Christmas day.) It's one of the few lego themes that I loved the builds themselves and actually played with them instead of just mainly playing with the minifigs. It was such a great theme play wise and the designs are still really cool to this day. Really nostalgic! Between this, Ninjago, LSW, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, lego was killing it with great sets and themes.

Honestly, compared to Dreamzzz and modern Ninjago, I really miss how focused these original Lego IPs used to be. Nowadays everything feels like such a hodgepodge of wacky sci-fantasy. Ninjago (and now dreamz) have become sort of a dumping ground for all of Lego’s ideas, when back then we would get four or five separate themes with clear concepts and ideas. I am excited for the rumored Johnny Thunder “reboot” this summer, and the space city sets are admittedly pretty cool. I just wish they would give us a proper fantasy line for people who can’t keep justifying massive 300+ sets

In the case of the jet copter, I would agree with you that if it has jets, it doesn’t need the helicopter blades but when you think on another note, if the Jets were to go out or stop working, the helicopter blade would help them land safely. it’s stupid, but it makes sense if you think about it that way.

The jet copper is based on a real vehicle. They were trying to find a way to make helicopters faster. The jet engines were too much so the next design used a backwards facing perpeller to increase its speed in a more manageable way. it recently competed and lost as a replacement for the Black hawk helicopter. It's now competing for a new attack helicopter role.

think the General or Cyborg are actually intellegence they look a bit like royals or the elite of the race, the intellegence, the strong, the one with fast reflexes hope they bring this theme back: first a huge mothership next wave alien prisonors have escaped from the mothership, you have to catch them, build the ... and save the city (new or reused alien molds) next wave combines it to Galaxy Squad and Aliens and Humans work together (alien prisoners were good + Cyborg now too ?) to stop the iscectoid aliens (a huge Ship for all the ships of the Squad to possibly fit in) (would let the Queen and her empire unused for possible future waves/enemies) the 2 big sets could be for adults like the castle sets, so you actually get huge cool buildings + minifigures

This theme AND Galaxy Quest I always thought were connected, as if the ADU eventually fought back the invading army and then wanted to stop the aliens once and for all, only to find out that the aliens were wiped out by the bug aliens or whatever the hell they were called. So they started the Galaxy Squad in order to fight the new threat

One of the coolest crossovers I thought growing up was that how in Monster Fighters, they failed and Lord Vampire shot off the moonstone beam into space, thenbwas taken down and retreated to his haunted house... but the beam shot through space and brought the Alien Bugs to Earth by beacon. Then it was said Solomon Blaze, leader of the Ultra Agents was a veteran from the war against the space bugs... and not just one but 2 of his villains now are elemental masters from Ninjago. While using the Relm crystal, the Ninja of Ninjago travel to Chima a couple times, briefly, and fight the Nightmare King along with Dreamzzz in their sleep. It's all connected!

ADU definitely should have got some sort of power armoured minifigures or big mech build and i agree that they should have made an APC. Perhaps have the HQ be a unique one and then have an APC kit that didn't have any duplicate commander or inspector mini figures and had ADU and alien attackers

The part that was so dark of the lego mini figures having they're brains sucked out was awesome I love dark crap like that yeah I'm a bit weird heck I like monsters from dark cartoons heck I use to love invader zim and I love 3 particular episodes bestest friends and dark harvest and a Halloween episode but now I'm into a different cartoon called villainous and the character called black hat is a eldritch horror and he's pretty evil and I like it he'll scare the crap out of the characters that works for him or if the characters work for him mess up he would do something dastardly to them anyways but I also like other shows like hazbin hotel and helluva boss both shows got angels and demons yeah I'm just monster fanatic basically I love monsters and one more thing I also like the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy that show has monsters and its dark for a kids show but I loved it when I was a kid I was never scared of it. It's like the love of monsters came natural to me not too mention courage the cowardly dog I was never scared of it either now as a grown adult now I love monsters I even created my own villainous OC/black hat oc her name is Mrs Nayarl Hats and she is half eldritch horror/cosmic horror/HP Lovecraftian horror and half Jorogumo yokai/Asian mythological creature and I drew her one day she is the most beautiful monster I ever made and I like her

Honestly I would see it has just like one giant military base. Like I’m trying to thing of some planet from Star Wars or other sci fi to compare it to but I can’t. Like I just see it as this planet covered with barracks, airfields, weapons rooms. And then a giant citadel in the middle were the alien villainess rules.

I felt really disappointed by what came next, as if the theme was slowly dying (tasteless Explorians, missdesigned UFO...) Until Alien Conquest, with its magnificent truck and chopper. I must say Space also suffered from the Starwars competition, but starting Starwars is like getting too close to à Sarlack’s pit.

One of the things I’ve noticed is how many guns and weapons are in a lot of these older and really good sets, something Lego has been trying to distance themselves from, I find it upsetting that they’re limiting their creativity by removing this stuff and making cookie cutter themes because they think it’s violent, Lego Star Wars still sells, hell it literally has WAR in the title, I don’t like the fact they’re toning back on themes like this all so they can make five different lines of city sets that all look exactly the same
