As a non bricklayer I much prefer the brickwork to finish central of the pier , never looks right to me to be flush with the wall

all pier caps and wall capping bricks should be Class B semi Eng Bricks Faced Flettons are not robust enough and never weather well and only 41/2" wide a bricklayer and I mean a true Bricklayer worth his salt would never build a garden wall of any size regardless of height less than 9" wide, come on guys less get the standards raised. its all about the specification which seems to be lacking from some tradesmen.

@@AdamHatch I get that but your the bricklayer, not the client, as a bricklayer you should determine the spec not the client, I've walked away from so many contracts where a client tries to tell me my profession, I can be bothered with non-trained people, when they try that I always ask to see there qualifications which they obviously haven't got, but I have to say the majority of client I work for trust my judgement and experience. besides there more than 1 type of semi Eng brick or even capping stones slabs etc etc. Most people (clients) don't state the spec for a car or any house hold appliance so why should they be able to spec building works.

Adam Hatch unfortunately old lbc were baked hard. The baking time now is so much shorter so they are soft. I've had some sitting around for 2 years that have frost damage. I don't build garden walls in lbc brick since a stock brick is cheaper and lasts so much longer

@@markmorgan6231we’ve left a 100mm gap along the side of the house who’s driveway it is, there’s a minimal slope running that way. Would have been better if there was a manhole or some drainage to run it too
