If you're the one who's reaching out to them, they'll buy from you later on if they're "buyers" If not they will not buy either way and a lot of artists will not fuk wit you if you just tryna sell your beats. There's just too many producers right now hitting up rappers tryna sell. You gotta give something of value to start a good business relationship. If they come to you, that's a different story though

Good point man. And now that I think about it more, maybe picking 5, AND ONLY 5, beats that you’re willing to give for free in exchange for an email. And you can market them on KZbin and BeatStars as free too. Might be a solid idea, but I’m not willing to sell 50 beats for $100 or anything like that.

I sell my beats exclusive for $1000. Some industry producers say it’s okay to send free beats. Some say that you shouldn’t. This a touchy subject. I use my discretion when deciding to do so our not. I sense that there’s a disconnect between internet producers and industry producers too.

Sound like you could start off on the internet to get known and promo. Then, when the music you produce start doing numbers and hits, start selling more exclusively, and into a industry producer. At that point you have a name behind yourself and evidence of your work.

@saintthrillah3 жыл бұрын
@Music Biz Moriarty independent rappers who buy beats. As a producer growing up and learning, especially in a place with an almost non existent rap and hip hop scene, there were never rappers to sell beats to. No rappers who had their stuff together to the point they would actually invest in themselves. So after a decade of trying to produce in that kind climate so to speak, you get it in your head that there arent enough rappers who buy beats to make a living on the independent tip and everyone who is successful via soundlick, youtube, beatstars, etc; are anomolous. It takes a lot of education to unlearn that

I've moved to London 5 years ago from the Cayman Islands to chase my dream, didn't know anyone or have a place to stay, absolute faith in God and hard work got me where I'm at today so I'm grateful , I'm still trying to get my beats out there to artists as it's a "who you know, not what what know" situation so networking is major over here and coming from a small island where everyone knows you to being a nobody here is tough, but if you want it bad enough...where there's a will there's a way!

There’s no correct way, everybody has their own journey, you want to soak up game from everybody (even if you wouldn’t swap positions with them) find local music artist that you find talented and build with them for free (if y’all both broke tryna make it don’t charge em), start a sound, start a wave. Then you’ll build your brand, catalogue and networking at the same time and the clients will come, that’s when you charge folks.

I've never been one to just give away my creations for free, even when my beats weren't up to par, because Ninjas always looking for something free. And I tell 'em like this, you're an investment, so invest in yourself. Like when a ho tells my big ass to pay like I weigh I tell these rappers hey if you pay nothing then obviously you are nothing so I'm not trying to waste my time with you!
