Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 usually medieval castles wouldn't need an extra wall around them but some castles have a wall that expends out from the castle that would surround the local town or village! We still have places like that here in the UK that has a wall that surrounds the local town so perhaps that's what you should do create a small village that is surrounded by a wall that starts from the castle 😃

Awesome idea!!!! Definitely build the exterior wall and the moat at the edges of the table!!!!

I like the idea of having the wall around the castle with grounds. You could have lots of vendors. Also you should have some farming fields maybe windmill grinding grain too.
@Gau199510 ай бұрын
Adding the castle grounds is an awesome idea. Maybe not in this layout as there are space constraints, but maybe you can do it in the new space. You could also elevate the castle inside the grounds... Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see you doing the switch to the new space

I think I agree with you that the castle would be so cool with a fortress wall around it. It doesn’t have to be super tall or anything because it would block the view of the castle, but then you could add some stories of minifigs trying to scale the walls to sneak in 👍🏼

Love to see a big green field with a river! I need access to a PAB wall for green plate! I've been growing my Castle setup, building a 2x size Majisto Workshop, and after seeing you take apart your Black Falcon Knights' Castle, I doubled-down, building a whole basement level in MILS, while continuing to MOC the main castle and make it stronger. I built 2 MILS plate, so the castle can still split apart. I brought it to convention last year, with credit to Made With Brix, and folks still loved it, was glad I brought it even though it wasn't "my" design. But this base level is, and it still needs some reworking.

I highly recommend putting the MOC castle at an angle to make it look more interesting and the layout less grid-like. Otherwise, all of your ideas sound great. 👍

Awesome video as always! Keep up the great work! Just a quick thought (maybe someone already mentioned it before): it would be cool to combine your custom castle with the Lion knights' castle. You can extend the wall on the far side of the Black falcon one to reach to the Lion knights' castle forming a single long fortification. And then branch out the exterior wall and build the village like you thought. So basically it will create a giant medieval fortification combining a few things. Also kinda make sense that the jousting and blacksmith will be outside of that. Architecturally it will be a bit mixed, but real life castles sometimes took ages to build and may got a few different styles incorporated in them.

That bridge is really cool and it looks great but it does not work on that river The bridge is sitting in the middle of the river those two arches were the water supposed to flow under those are sitting above the shores and there's no room for the water to go through they only needs to be one arch over the whole thing but again that bridge is beautiful it just doesn't quite work on that river either widen the river or have the bridge with one arch

Hey bricksie - i always dig your videos -- we have lots of castles here in the UK! maybe check out Bodiam Castle in Kent for some insprarion for your medieval build - it has a cool moat and bridge ! thanks for all the great videos
@Size15s10 ай бұрын
One option is to blend all the castles into one single castle complex - one becomes the Palace, another becomes the military garrison, and another the market and services (blacksmith, bakery, etc). Ideally, have a corner hill to cascade the castle onto, into and under! You could make a section of outer wall that encompasses the jousting and have crops and small wood - this would allow you to expand the outer wall in your new space and have an invading army attack it.
@brickbro199310 ай бұрын
I love how the new medieval scene is coming along! The river provides a nice breakup of green and just adds a nice feature to the build. I also like the battle idea of yours and if you want some lore behind it, well it could be the dominance of territory for either faction. I definitely think the build needs some trees as well as some more little details around the river. Such as, rocks, pebbles, slopes of various shades of greys and browns and some animal life (something simple like frogs).

If you could get another white low shelving unit to add onto the edge of your set up, going into the cove area. You can then move the Falcon Knight castle to the left and set up a 3 points type of theme where each castle is at the end of an area. I would also suggest elevating the Falcon Knight castle if possible onto a hill or mountain-scape.

Personally, I'd like to see one big realistic castle built to the actual scale of a real castle. I'd turn all the castles into one. Living in North Wales I'd recommend looking at Caernarfon castle for inspiration and a sense of scale. This way the medival village could be within the walls of the castle, and could easily be integrated with the new city layout.

I got an idea: you could build only a part of the grounds wall, along the river, and another part just before the lion knights castle. So it would imply that the castle grounds are bigger and encapsulate the blacksmith and the jousting scene. That would make for a larger grounds, and would also leave more room around the castle for details
@KyesonHaines10 ай бұрын

I'm watching this for the first time *after* seeing Part 2 (or is it Part 3)... and I love that bridge. I'll definitely be doing something similar with my castle diorama build. I also like the relocation of the Lion Knights' Castle... and I like the idea of making the Black Falcon Castle bigger for more internal detail. I'll be building an absolutely massive castle, partly because I picked up about a hundred Black Falcon knights while they were available on the LEGO online store; I don't live in a city big enough to have a LEGO store nearby, sadly.
@jacksonstarky828810 ай бұрын
Returning to this video after watching the actual Part 1... and I love the idea of enlarging the moat perimeter and putting in an outer wall. I'll be doing something similar with my project; I have eight 3 in 1 castle sets, which provide a perfect parts assortment for building outer walls, and a couple of Lion Knights castles, which are perfect central keep designs that lack outer wall structures. I'd like to get a few more 3 in 1 castles before they get retired... but getting to my nearest LEGO store is tricky for reasons mentioned above.

What if the moat flows from the river, with the river forming the front of the moat? That would allow more room in front of the castle and maybe the drawbridge could be crossing it. I'm not sure if your castles will each have a storied history, meaning one castle has a repaired wall, from a previous breach. I went to my first LUG meeting (FortLUG) and I had a lot of questions. Overall, I'm pleased with the LUG activities; one of the reasons for me seeking membership, and I would be interested in a series of videos, (as best as possible,) if you ever decide to go to your local LUG meetings, because I also had to leave my comfort zone.😂
