Oh.... I had a set similar to this, not sure if the loco is was the same, but it ended up being "recycled" by my parents (eventually eaten by my younger brothers).

That's the very Märklin set I had as a kid. On a big plywood piece with green felt as grass. Had a tunnel, and used Lego to build around it.

My grandmother's friend owned a doll shop (my mom drove home the fact that the lady was Jewish and had ties to Germany, my family likes to drive points home with me for some reasons) and it had a small model train shop connected to it, she was a certified Marklen dealer and she gave me two unsold train magazines when I was twelve and that was influencing for me in the hobby because I didn't know much about model trains and the big hobby shops were overwhelming back then.😂 My grandmother collected Shirley Temple dolls. Lol
