The problem with BRICS is, and has always been, the fact that the nations involved do NOT share a well-defined common goal. "Replacing the dollar as the world's reserve currency." does not count as strong enough motivation for this kind of alliance.

They are also all fascists, which means that merit does not exist, only loyalty to the supreme leader. The US will soon join them as Trump takes us fascist. When the intelligent are the enemy of the state like they are in fascist nations, things tend to go south economically. Especially for the serfs. The leaders, like Putler may cling to power for a long time but the country always fails economically.

Just google it. majority of the country was left with out power as people looted the powerplants for copper precious metals and parts, leaving the powerplants, factories, and hospitals inoperable. Hospitals are on backup power, limited to hours a day. All made possible by staggering amounts of coruption within the government. Governments employees offer over budgeted contracts to unreliable maitinance companies literally started the day before by a relative to launder money out of the country. Then said the company goes to perform "maintenance" which is really them getting the motors generators and wiring to sell for profit and leaving the building in complete disrepair. This started years ago and is still on going last I'd seen.

When those same currencies are compared to the US dollar over extended periods of 10 years, 5 years and 2 years, what we notice is the shrinking margin of the USD as it continues to weaken against those currencies is in the long run. This trend is consistently evident comparing currencies of the G7 countries as well.

There's too much potential for discord amongs the BRICS partners.Geo-political tension with India and China actively engaged in a border dispute, China issuing veiled threats about recovering Russia's Far Eastern Territories and Brazil and South Africa being largely irrelevant. The biggest members of the group simply don't trust each other and that makes it almost impossible to create a strong and unified organization.

The exchange rates of Russia's and China's currencies has been highly manipulated by their governments. Their economies are generally doing meh in the case of India to horrible and likely to collapse in the case of Russia and China. The notion of replacing the US dollar as the world's reserve currency is absurd for many reasons. The US economy may suffer a recession but in the long run it will power ahead far beyond its already great lead. Based on the latest data I've got from the World Bank's web site for GNI/GDP ratios, and PPP, China's GNI not adjusted for PPP is 2.3 trillion dollars while the US is 23.5 trillion dollars. The US income is ten times China's. This is using China's GDP numbers which might be dodgy. The US dollar based on US GNI is greater than all of the broke BRICS combined.

@markfischer3626
@markfischer3626 8 күн бұрын
@bamahama707 According to the official account the US Department of the Treasury owns the most with 8,100 tons. It once had 27,000 tons. Gold is a terrible substitute for money. That's because there is a finite amount of gold in the world but there is no limit to the amount of wealth that can be created by people. Therefore as the growth of wealth outstrips the mining of more gold the value of gold will go so high that most people won't have any and the entire system will break down. So what backs fiat money? The wealth of goods and services people will accept it in payment for. Despite the fascination people have had for the soft yellow shiny metal that doesn't tarnish it's practically useless. You can make ornamental objects out of it and electroplate low voltage electrical connectors with it but that's about all. I don't know if it's used in dentistry anymore.

Your analysis evaluates the values of BRICS currencies with respect USD at present when all trades are conducted in USD based exchange rates and the value of USD is determined by the supply/demand of the US currency. The demand of USD will drastically reduce and thereby its value when BRICS and their new members starts their trades in their own currencies. These countries do not need to earn USD by selling their products to USA. The BRICS will earn the USD when USA will buy products from these countries. USA has managed to export their manufacturing and jobs to China and other countries for last few decades for cheap labor and profit. It will be time consuming and expensive to bring them back at higher US labor rates. It will be interesting to see which way the wind blows.

@stephenoneill245 Ай бұрын
Without a common fiscal policy, you cannot align all these various currencies into one. The last time this was tried was with the € and it worked, but stringent control is necessary because of the varying GDPs of the member states. Luckily they are all relatively stable in global comparison. Without failsafes, as soon as one economy does a nosedive, it pulls the others down with it. In the case of pricks, it looks hopeless for the time being. China and India should think themselves lucky they are not financially tied to Russia at the moment, who may not last until next summer. Additionally, the Indians and Chinese are at loggerheads over a lot of things relating to China's expansionism, even fighting at their borders. I believe India's rationale for supporting a multipolar world has more to do with that than challenging the dollar. One of the biggest hindrances to pricks will be, however, Putin's wish to be the boss, despite having such a puny economy.

Germany is paying most for it but soon it going crash out which means it falls to France to pick up the economic burden and they simply can't do it. Once that happens France will leave the European Union and so will Germany. So you need to brace yourself for what is to come many things will start collapsing.

Brazil = small developing economy with some potential, should abandon BRICS and focus on attracting Western tourism Russia = collapsing economy, fully isolated after it decided to try to enforce its delusions of Imperialism, will soon be fully destroyed Iran = weak economy, greatly diminished to the point it can't even project power in its own backyard, political instability will lead to a second Iranian revolution soon India = strong economic position, one of the lone bright spots in the group, needs to focus more on infrastructure and raising the standard of living of its citizens, is the member of the group best served by leaving the group immediately. China = strong position as the world's exporter but decades of falsifying economic data and chasing impossible sustained economic growth have set it up for a massive financial reset, really bad at choosing its friends, not as deluded as Russia in terms of Imperialism but it might get there in time South Africa = the bright spot in Africa, aligned with BRICS due to colonial history, more in line with the West than it thinks it is It's not looking good for BRICS. Russia and Iran are teetering on collapse. If China tries to be more like Russia it too will collapse in a war of choice. Brazil, India and South Africa would do well to abandon BRICS in favor of the West. There's much more economic opportunity in doing so than sticking the losers of the East.

The main issue with the BRICS currency is that the only nation capable of backing it up technologically and economically is China and the biggest issue here is the second biggest economy in this block is India which doesn't trust anything China coughs up much less a currency that a communist country controls where India a capitalist cannot trust. Russia might be okay with it but not India for this to work either India makes it and China backs it or China makes it and India backs it. The more ideal fix for this dilemma is to just trade their own currency with each other but we all know the dollar is more established and is connected with all systems which still uses the dollar when it converts.

I see two problems with BRICS ever becoming a major player. 1: India, China, and Russia really don't trust each other. My opinion is they would have no problem stabbing each other in the back to get an advantage. 2: Each of the BRICS seems to be saying the following: we must be united against the US Dollar. Give up your currency and embrace mine as that new united currency. Not giong to happen. What could be a major force is if all of the countries agreed to give up their currencies and go to a single new one (like the Euro).

India is adding $1 Trillion every two years to its GDP. It will beat both Japan and Germany by 2026/ 27. Per Capita income is relevant for some things and Total GDP is relevant for many things. Total GDP enables the country to create many industries through nationwide investment, which India is doing in terms of highways, refineries, airports, railways, metros, bridges, defense, etc etc Lots of technology development. That's where $1 Trillion growth every 2 years comes from. That's not a garbage economy.

India is feeling a LOT Of pain from the currency devaluation, as they import a lot of their oil, and the rupee's crash caused an inflation spike in India because petroleum product imports like diesel suddenly became a lot more expensive. The fatal flaw to the BRIC's idea? Not ONE of them has a fully convertible currency. China could, but won't, as it would cause GDP growth to crash as it appreciated to its actual level. Robert Mundell called it the Impossible Trinity of Monetary policy, and every BRIC suffers from it.

It depends how integrated they want to be. The EU has a very high level of integration, which causes friction politically but is very effective economically - as the UK is now realising. The Euro imposes a higher level of integration, which is why a fifth of the EU hasn't joined it. A common currency for BRICS would only work with similar economic attitudes amongst the members. That seems unlikely.
