Great session as always however, I would respectfully disagree with both the esteemed guests. if some outline of an accord has been reached- then it must solely be an agreement to discuss how actual disengagement will take place. In real terms, this means nothing because unless the modalities of the ‘chynese units’ withdrawing their stranglehold on ‘the charding-ninglung Nala junction’ and of Indian troops reestablishing their right by actually renewing patrolling are worked out, there’s no accord. This is why ‘the army chief’ was careful with his words when he spoke at an event right after these reports. The ‘pusillanimity’ of the political class is mirrored by the military leadership (unfortunately) with the chief of staff regularly and routinely calling for resort to diplomacy as priority which, in turn, fuels the dispensation’s desire to obtain a border agreement.
